Just wondering, are the AP themed dice sets a thing of the past?

Nope! Our partners at Q-Workshop are still producing AP dice: Link here.

Dawn of Flame is the latest set to come out.

i have the sets for the 2 APs I've played - the Against the Aeon Throne dice are very handsome.

I have to admit, I read this thread/product title as "Armor Piercing Dice Sets", and immediately think of those heavy metal dice with the really sharp points. . .

I have Dead Suns and Against the Aeon Throne. The Dead Suns set is a little garrish with clashing blue and orange, but the Against the Aeon Throne set looks really sharp.

Why no D3? I have read a lot of stuff that uses them?

The same reason it's not in any generic D&D dice set.

D6, 1,2=1, 3,4=2, 5,6=3

Also, how would you even make a d3? There is no three sided geometric solid, not one where the sides are flat.

Effectively, with plastic.

Edit

Offhand I looked up a few examples that would work.

Only one I've seen in person was just a triangular prism shape.

A triangular prism has four sides, and four points, is the thing. That's what a d4 is made from, already.

Here's an example, doesn't seem that hard to make.

probably used the wrong words then, a five sided shape. Two sides triangles parallel to each other, then extended out so the die won't land on those two sides.

Like a... jolly rancher, but three long sides instead of four?

Yeah I've seen those too.

I houseruled all d3 instead be d4 on my first game beacuse it made no sense, I thought it was a typo until I saw it repeated in other entries.

The Exchange

I have a six sided die with roman numerals I,II,III repeated once each. It works for me. I found it at GENCON a couple of years ago.

Oh, yeah, making a functional d3 is easy enough. Its just, that's not an actual three side die.

( Its also a little silly given how rarely D3s are used for anything, but its not like silly dice aren't a huge market segment. . . *cough* )

Are the AP dice sets a thing of the past now?

They haven't come out for FLY FREE or HORIZONS, and not for ABOMINATION, FISTS, or STRENGTH...

I, too, would like to know this. I splurged on sets for all my players to use in the final session of Dead Suns and would like to do so again for Fly Free.

Pretty sure it's a dead line... for both Starfinder and Pathfinder, just like the pawns.

Alas.
