The pitch for this scenario sounds wrong. The point of 1-08 was to get the materials needed to fix the drift engine on Master of Stars. Now where going somewhere to get an entirely new one? Shouldn't there at least be some dialog about it?

This problem seems to come out of nowhere. In scenario 1-28, it seems that the Master of Stars is just about ready for service.

The repairs to the Master of Stars are almost complete, and although a few rings of scaffolding remain visible around sections of the ship, its armor-plated hull, powerful engines, and sleek lines are almost complete.

One possibility, I suppose, is that they took the Master of Stars out of dock (after 1-28) and then discovered that the old drift engine doesn't work.

Even so, I don't understand why a specialized Gideron Authority drift engine is required (other than to get the plot moving for 1-37) when Pact Worlds engines should suffice. Perhaps we'll get an explanation in a future scenario.

I assume the thought behind it is that the Master of Stars is such a technological patchwork that it's filled with incompatible systems (even to a degree after the refit). Power up a Pact Worlds standard Drift engine in that ship, and three other systems that came from the Vast go down. Replace them, and now no one on Deck E is getting hot water. Etc.

I imagine chasing down these cascade failures is what Fitch and her team has been up to for most of the last 2+ years, and now it's down to "We have a war coming, we've found a Drift engine that can finally get everything online, or we can go back into drydock for another three months to replace this, that, and the other. Hell with it, get me that Drift engine."

I assumed the special drift engine has to do with the fact that the Master of Stars is an Ultranaught classed starship, which exceed 6 miles in length. The only world in the pact worlds that is known for dealing with ship of that scale is Eox. For comparison, Absalom Station is only 5 miles in diameter.

Truth be told, when I saw that little fact in the scenario I started wondering "Where the heck did the society get a Super Star Destoryer?"

I would love to see a scenario that was focused on the Master of Stars and learning more of its history and how the society acquired it as this was unlikely something they constructed. I imagine they found it abandoned floating in space, it might not even have had a drift engine yet. Perhaps it was originally something akin to the Idari, an gap-age sleeper ship.

Edit: This all assumes that the classification of the Master of Stars is not a typo or artistic licensing
