Setting off the trap and getting the guards called at the same time can be quite difficult for low tier players; dealing with tanglefoot bags and strong tactics with enlarged enemies can be challenging; if players don't set a guard at night they will have a hard time; on high tier the ranger with the dogs can dish out some decent damage against PCs after alerting the whole compound to trouble.
All that said, this is certainly not the most taxing scenario — however, the real fun for players (and GMs), should be the goblins themselves. They are the centerpiece of this story, and combat is more of a background issue. That's how I ran it, at least.
