The Iron Gods adventure path has a lot of dungeons. But, I have a player who wants to be a member of the Black Horse tribe. Such a character should own a horse, but I have some questions.
- How useful is warhorse ownership in this adventure path?
- Will the heroes be able to safely store their horses while they are exploring? (for example, when they have secured Aldronard’s Grave in Lords of Rust).
If the horse is not very useful, would it be a hindrance? Also, if it is not very useful, would it be okay to give the player the animal without making him pay for it.
On a related topic, what kind of horse do the Black Horse tribe raise?

Book 1, horse is not very useful.
Book 2, horse is useful on the way to Scrapwall and in most areas inside. Possible to have safe stabling if you are friendly with some NPCs.
Book 3, horse might be useful in transit to Iadenveigh and sidequests in the town, difficult to bring to the dungeons even if there is space for it inside. Easy to stable safely in Iadenveigh,
Book 4. Useful while exploring the canyon. Possible to bring horse to a lot of the dungeons. Only place safe I can think of, is with the mad druid and possibly Isumas cave.
Book 5. It's the city. Maybe you could ride the horse to the palace, maybe not.
Book 6, no idea, I have not played that far.
If the player does not have a class feature that makes the horse stronger, it is going to be useless after book 2 and possibly before.

Update on Book 6 since we have started it. My huge sized behemoth hippopotamus has been able to move all over with no trouble so far, so I expect that a horse has no problems either.
Isn't the floor inside the mega-dungeon tilted? And, there are a few areas that are Dalek proof (i.e., stairs).

Spoilered just in case.
There might be some stairs, I don't remember, but horses and hippopotamuses can climb them.
I have to admit that we have explored only three areas so far so there might be places that prove difficult to navigate with a horse. Or a hippo.
