Why is she important?
What's her connection with the Ambassador and her involvement later on? Is she an actual member of the corpse fleet, or a renegade? Is the ambassador a traitor to the pact worlds, or is he fighting the corpse fleet?

Short answer: I don't think we know yet.
If I had to guess, I would say that Eskovar's exact role (outside of the fact she's attached in some way to the Corpse Fleet) is unimportant. The important bit is whether or not the PCs build a good or bad relationship with the Eoxian ambassador before they head to Eox in book 3.
My players are arguing about just that. Two of them want to trust the ambassador. The other two want to shunt the box out an airlock.

Moral ambiguity is part of the fun! Also, chucking Eskovar out the airlock isn't much of a consequence - Nor will just find another way to pick her up.
