Half proficiencies?

Have any of you ever experimented with half proficiencies, allowing a character to take two proficiencies at half bonus in place of a full bonus?

No, but it sounds neat! I would allow it as a DM.

Do you round odds up or down?

I would probably make it two 2/3 proficiencies, rounded down. Otherwise id feel the numbers end up too low to be worth it.

Or alternatively we convert skill proficiencies into skill points out right. You get two points per skill proficiency you gain +1 per proficiency for 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th level respectively and you can spend them on any skills up to your proficiency bonus.

That's what I tried to say in another thread, but without your concise clarity.
