Malaria in Segang Expedition

I am running the Segang Expedition, and have a question about the mosquitoes in the jungle.
The canned text states:
"The swamp is infested with nocturnal mosquitoes. Unless the
PCs take precautions (such as applying vermin repellent before
they sleep), they must attempt saves to resist contracting
malaria each night that they rest in the swamp."

One of my players came up with the idea that since they are in the swamp, she could cover herself in the mud to prevent the mosquitoes from biting her. I don't want to penalize out of the box thinking, and I know that this works to a point in real life, but can find no rules outside of vermin repellent. Any suggestions? Legality?

That sounds like obvious circumstance bonus terroritory! Something like +2 for the mud cover. You can't cover your orifices afterall.

LMAO Muser.. speaking as someone that has been through several iterations of wildland survival, both military and civilian, I will attest that your comment is truth!
