Good but underplayed 3-7 scenarios.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ***** Venture-Agent, Minnesota

I'm looking for some ideas for my venue, and I'm running a blank. Anyone have some suggestions of scenarios that may be underappreciated?

Hmm

Grand Lodge 4/5

3-02 Sewer Dragons of Absolom gets a lot of raves.
3-25 Storming the Diamond Gate can be fun, but the final encounter can be ... dangerous.
4-Sp Ruins of Bonekeep - Level One - The Silent Grave is interesting, but many people shy away from it due to reputation. It also requires a 4 Star or higher GM to run...
5-02 The Wardstone Patrol can be fun, if you get a group who pay attention.

Not sure about newer stuff, haven't played as much, and at least one of them was "easier" than it should have been, as the GM missed a note in the scenario, and therefore didn't include an encounter he should have.

Dark Archive 5/5 *

season 4 In Wraths Shadow
season 3 Song of the Sea Witch

Dark Archive 4/5 5/5 ****

Hmm also look to the 1-7s from seasons 0-2, they are what became 3-7s. I will agree with 3-02, it is a lot of fun. 4-05 The Sanos Abduction can be fun, and 4-09 The Blakros Matrimony is amazing!

4-14 My Enemy's Enemy is also interesting, with several RP dilemnas.

In season 3 The midnight Mauler is fun, and don't forget Voice in the Void or The Beggars Pearl (from season 1)

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/5 **** Venture-Lieutenant, Nebraska—Omaha

Second Wardstone Patrol. It can be tough to role play the NPC, but if your group is one that engages with role play, it can be quite memorable. Be sure to snag the season five faction letters for any Dark Archive players.

I also liked 06-?? Slave Masters Mirror, but that is best run after Slave Ships of Absalom.

Silver Crusade 4/5 5/55/55/5

Pathfinder Adventure, Adventure Path, Maps, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Maps Subscriber

I agree with everyone so far--Blakros Matrimony, Sanos Abduction, and Sewer Dragons of Absalom are three of my favorite scenarios. Some of our PFS group still talks about our most recent run-through of Sewer Dragons over a year after the fact.

2-01 and 2-02, the Before the Dawn miniseries, was pretty good if I remember correctly.

Traitor's Lodge, 5-09, is excellent but since it's the precursor to Thralls of the Shattered God it might not count as "underplayed" right about now.

Six Seconds to Midnight is beautifully weird if you have a group that doesn't mind

Spoiler:
irritating, should-have-been-a-math-puzzle puzzles.

Dataphiles 3/5

I really enjoyed City Of Strangers 1&2. They fall into that 1-7 range from season 1.

Scarab Sages 5/5 5/5 *** Venture-Captain, Netherlands

Sewer Dragons is awesome!
Voice in the void can be super creepy.
I personally really liked Way of the Kirin.

4/5 5/5

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Way of the Kirin is excellent, but a bear to prep. Same goes for The Blakros Matrimony, but that one's also a bear to run and RP.

Song of the Sea Witch is pointless on the lower subtier, due to how the BBEG was changed in development. On the upper tier, it's not bad.

Sewer Dragons of Absalom is fun. Can be a bit distracting for players who like a certain non-playable race, though.

The Wardstone Patrol is divisive. If you have a party that gets into it, it can be a lot of fun. If you have a party that is uninterested in doing a certain thing, they're going to have a bad time. Also, it's very short - I've run it twice and both times it ended in under three hours.

The Midnight Mauler's fun. It spawned a few memes in our area. Same goes for Day of the Demon.

You Have What You Hold is great fun if the GM chews the scenery to the max.

By Way of Bloodcove is super awesome if you have a party of actually competent PCs. When I played this, the party had... two competent PCs, one of which was my own. She pretty much carried the entire rest of the party through the scenario with some help from two of the other PCs - the rest were basically dead weight. It wasn't fun.

The Slave Master's Mirror, as mentioned above, is best run after Slave Ships of Absalom (which is best run after, uh, most of Seasons 0-2 with members of a specific faction attending). It's pretty great, but its open-ended nature leaves it ripe for the possibility of TPK.

Test of Tar Kuata is so fun.

Six Seconds to Midnight is TPK bait on the low tier.

Also, if you're willing to run the higher tiers of 1-7, Decline of Glory is thematically fun if unchallenging at times, Voice in the Void is thematically fun if way too challenging at times, and The Pallid Plague is tremendous. The first half of Before the Dawn is good. The second part... has its moments but isn't as strong. The Dalsine Affair is best if played with an understanding of what little metaplot there was in Seasons 0-2 and can be deadly. Shadow's Last Stand is... well, the first part has a hilarious map, and the second part has a neat scene, but other than that I can't recall what happens in them much.
