As I said in my goblin-aliased review, I despair of this film's box office future, precisely because of points of view like the one immediately above this.
In my experience, the film rewarded paying attention to it- something is happening in literally every frame, but I'm not going to pretend it's an action-packed thrill ride. Nor does it try to be.

I didn't go in expecting an action packed thrill ride either. I went in expecting atmosphere and tension and dread.
And I think the film had potential. I could see what hey were trying to do--the fraught relationships between the family members, the isolation of the wilderness, etc--but it just didn't deliver for me.
It was certainly beautifully shot, though. And like I said, it had some eerie moments.

Fair enough, that's how I felt about The Revenant.
