For those whom are unaware, I've subtly been slipping my proverbial hat under the table 'round here (does 2 threads count as that?) in an attempt to raise some cash for some training. Specifically, the only training I qualify for that can give me a chance to get my feet under me and have an actual semblance of a future that doesn't involve being a hobo. Security guard! Though knowing my luck I'm likely to get shot in the ass, I'd take a bullet in my rectum if it means bringing home enough bacon for my fiance an I (soon as I can afford a home).
So, if anyone has some pocket change they can spare, are feeling generous/charitable, and want to go on my "Awesome List", please drop some nickles and pennies in the hat.
If you've already spent that pocket change throwing it at Paizo or picking up some dollar menu double cheeseburgers, please hand out these flyers by sharing across social media sites, blogs, and so on.
And if you've already donated, please pass the word around anyways. Having no real facebook of my own, and very few followers/friends elsewhere, I'm relying on nice strangers at this point... For donations AND sharing.... That's what I get for being a social wallflower. I might be mostly antisocial, but considering couch-hopping and going through 3 phones I lost contact with pretty much everybody. Add in the fact I've a hard time befriending new people.
Thank you for listening, and hopefully looking and donating and/or sharing. May whatever entity you believe in watch over you and help you out... Or do whatever it is they do.

Well, have you considered your local/state unemployment agencies? I know from recent experience that my state agency has a number of them offering *free* training as security guards.
If they had any, I'd be working by now. Every one I've called up or walked in, sometimes both, none of the training was free.
Gotta love it when they've got something on a calendar for a few months, go in to try and take a class, only to find out it's been cancelled and that entire program shut down... Either I'm looking in the wrong places (it's possible, my googlefu could use work), or most likely the city's totally cheap (they've been cutting down on the assistance budgets).
Before anyone mentions it, I simply cannot Job Core. They literally want you living on their campus and I've got a fiance to take care of, literally. I'd love to, but I've got no one to drop her off with for the amount of time it'd take.

A friend of mine is a security guard. He likes it and says it's a good job.

It might sound really odd but one of my best bits of advice is smile a lot and try to be active with people such as greeting them. "Good morning/afternoon/evening!", "Have a great day/fun". Politeness helps too: "Yes sir/ma'am", "Thank you", "No sir/ma'am", etc.
Even if it takes practice, try to exude good vibes. People pick up on it and if you act happy (which can be difficult when you've little reason to be) it's contagious and makes other people feel happy, which in turn will make them appreciate your presence. A person who acts happy, is polite, and smiles a lot stands out from the legions of other employable-sorts.
Plus, smiling actually causes your body to produce more feel-good chemicals for your body chemistry which can build up a wonderful feedback loop where you start feeling better because you're smiling which makes you smile more easily and more often which makes you feel even better, etc.
I used to be a wallflower too but it took conscious effort to break out of my shell. That conscious effort has done more for me in terms of job opportunities than anything I've done academically.

Removed some posts and the replies to them. Paizo.com is not a platform for making judgements about the life choices and personal details of any single member of our community. Whatever axe you have to grind about employment and it's relationship to crowdfunding/donations, it's not appropriate in this context and can be taken elsewhere.

Und bump..... What, you want an update too? Oh alright. :p
Up to $100! And most likely only from people on these boards, near as I can figure out. Thank you all who donated, proves how awesome this community is. And if anyone's shared (can't really tell all that well from GoFundMe's dashboard), thank you as well.
Unfrotunately... Still a ways to go to get ALL the training... At the very least, $300 to go for the basic goal of levels 1-3 and license registration fees.
If anyone's got a blog, or a tumblr, or twitter, or even a facebook... Mind sharing this around again please?
Thanks for the support and encouragement in any case ^_^.
@Ashiel: I'll have to keep that in mind. Unfortunately, I've got very bad teeth (chronic dry mouth + grinder = lots of broken teeth, only have six on the right side to chew with, and two on the left, plus the bottom front row T-T), and my close-mouthed smile looks creepier than a certain famous fictional physicist's ... But I'll just have to work on it.
@Damon: Aye... Unfortunately said plan requires financial investment, of which I'm incapable of raising myself. Well, I could... If I could get some under-the-table odd jobs here and there, but whatever money I do manage to scrape together winds up being survival money. Lord knows my "family" doesn't give two copper one way or another.... But, hey, it's the best plan I could come up with...
Though, I suppose I could have asked for 3 grand for a computer programming/etc course... But I felt 900 was more manageable, lol.

My google-fu is pretty good, and I was able to find a couple of jobs that don't appear to require a GED:
Such as this one and this one and this one or this one.
I won't pretend any of them are great jobs, but I suspect they pay better than NOT having any of them. They might, at least, be able to help put food on the table while you save up for the security training.
