Hey guys, I have been obsessed with the Mongol Empire and the age of Marco Polo for a while now, and I'd like to tap my knowledge of such to make a sweet Pathfinder character.
I'm not around my books right now, so does anyone know of the Tien subculture that is similar to the Mongols in Golarion?
Also, I would probably make a combo Cavalier and Ranger, but I'm going more for flavor now. Maybe even a Battle Shaman...

Consider the Mongol's love of their mounted archery; roughly 60% of their entire force were light cavalry horse-archers. The majority of the rest were more heavily armored lancers.
If you're looking for a character type that would most closely resemble the average Mongolian horse-archer, look at the Luring Cavalier archetype. He specializes in using ranged combat coupled with the mobility of a mount to engage his foes in a manner favorable to himself. Additionally, the Cavalier gains a mount at equal to character level, as opposed to level-4 for the Horse Lord Ranger.
The Luring Cavalier archetype can also be coupled with the Strategist archetype since the two archetypes do not remove or modify the same base class feature. This could simulate the kind of superior tactical acumen that the Mongolian army demonstrated when attacking their more "civilized" opponents. (Strategist isn't great, but it's fluffy. Take both archetypes and call yourself Subatai.)
I'd envision this sort of character to be using his mobility to avoid melee engagement as much as possible while selecting the optimum targets for his bow attacks and challenges. He'd work to separate the enemies forces from one another, making the more isolated elements more easy to overcome. Additionally, he'd use his superior tactical acumen to make sure that combats were dictated by the party, not the enemy.

The Tien-La and the kingdom of Hongal are the Golarion analogue for Mongols.
Mechanically, a Sohei monk with animal ally for a mount is the closest thing I can think of to a Mongol Horse-archer. You can flurry with your bow, gain bonus mount feats, can flurry in armor, and can enhance your mount.

That works very well; covers the tough-and-willful high saves aspect and the martial skills. Thematically you also have the capability of flurrying with a 9-ring broadsword if things get scrappy, which is a good match for a generic 'Mongol sword'. A Dual Talent human with high strength and dexterity is a pretty good foundation.

Awesome! I was also considering the Unbreakable fighter type for those bonuses...

Thank you! That's what I was looking for!

Now I'm thinking of a Mongol warrior with sword, bow and mount...
Mongke, Tiger of the North
Fighter 1/ Sohei X
16/18+, 15/17+, 14, 8, 12, 8
1Fi. Point-Blank Shot / +Quick Draw
2So. $Mounted Skirmisher
3So. Nature Soul / $Mounted Archery
4So
5So. *Monastic Mount* / Animal Ally
6So. *Qinggong Power: Barkskin*
7So. *Weapon Training: Bows* / Precise Shot / $Trick Riding
8So. *Qinggong Power: Feather Step*
9So. Power Attack
Primary Equipment: 9-ring broadsword, shortbow, mithral mountain-pattern armor.
Strength-leaning switch-hitter. Because a Sohei can't use Point Blank Master, and because an elite Mongol warrior should be deadly with a sword either using mounted skirmisher or on foot.
Fun with Monastic Mount: as well as gaining Wisdom AC and Ki Strike, a Sohei's mount automatically benefits as well when they use Qinggong to cast Barskin and Feather Step...

Culturally, the centaurs of Iobaria can serve much the same role -- nomadic archers who rule the plains and threaten their neighbors with an Out of Context problem.
Note that it's difficult for people who aren't ready for them to handle mounted archers on the plains (you can't get near them unless you can figure out how to surprise them, and they can hurt you at range before you get near.). If you're planning to have part of the campaign take place in the nomads' native lands, consider how you'll deal with that problem.

I like all these ideas! For the character I was thinking going Fighter:Unbreakable 2/ Sohei X with pretty much the same build you did!
Just be sure delaying everything Sohei does by 2 levels is worth it to you. I only delayed it by one to eventually use mithral medium armor and to get feats rolling along.
