Ooo, saw my item and I haven't even hit Star yet. And it's up against a genuinely uninspired/bland item! Except... I keep seeing that stupid error jump out like a neon bullseye. >:/

Still early yet, but this year's batch seems a definitely better than last year's. Bunch of gruesome & necro-y items... I guess murderhobos get pretty emotionally-calloused/jaded by the time they start crafting gear.

Crafted ages ago in the nameless mountains by a magical murderhobo, this rod functions as a +1 light mace, but in the hands of [insert class], this glowing filigree, upon closer inspection, appears to be covered in runes that activate upon the death of the wielders spouse.

Oh my, this thread has really been active over night (at least in my time zone)
Before falling asleep I realized I did upvote one wonderous item (blame it on the pregnancy brain), probably got carried away by how cool it was.
There was one weapon I think was more of a wonderous item... that's where I stopped. Any quick tips on how to discern those?

Unfortunately not. There is a lot of crossover with rods, rings, and gauntlets (which are weapons) with wondrous items. So brace yourself for much reading and thinking. :)
Hidari: there will be an awful lot of choices where both sides don't really "meet" qualifications. One side will have no formatting, another will have, say, the price drastically wrong, etc...
When both things fail on some aspect of meeting qualification, just go with which one captures your imagination best conceptually (at least, that's what I'm doing. But I'm also a first-timer).
You also have the option to just vote them both failing, of course, but I'm trying to avoid that.

Gauntlets are very dangerous for crossing into Wondrous Item territory...

Checking the named items list of weapons in the magic weapons section - no gauntlets listed on a quick scan through.
I can see the argument for gauntlets as a weapon - I wouldn't want one in the face! :)

OK, that item is gruesome, but hella cool.
I'm fairly certain this spell does not exist. I searched every book I own, the PRD, the d20PFSRD, and the Archives of Nethys just to make sure. It does not exist in any incarnation that I can find. Now if it's a creative misspelling, I suppose it could be this... but it would have to be very creative.

What is with all the items that are empowered by the user cutting or piercing themselves to produce blood?
EDT: Note that some of these items aren't bad, but it does seem to be a running theme this year.

After going through the compulsory 2 wondrous items, I had an interesting object paired against a wall of text. After that, the next two pairings were average to bad against the same. And I just could not keep on voting. After only 3 votes.
That was 4 hours ago and I feel like trying again but I fear the same will happen quickly :-(
