Yay- I couldn't come up with a quick character concept I liked better than Willard, but I am still thinking about something a little more beefy if we're overstocked on squishy arcane types.

![]() |

Soleil's new character. Halfling hunter with an animal companion who will serve as a mount and be kind of tanky. I'm still debating what type of animal companion, though.
EDIT: Grizzly bear. Maybe a bit more smashy than tanky, but will do the job well :=)

Here's the stand-in for Grax. As a whip fighter, he won't dish out much damage, but I'm hoping he can hand out some conditions from his whip's range.
I actually have a Half-Orc whip magus (scorpion whip, technically). He's fantastic!

Ok, I have a couple ideas. I'm leaning most towards:
- Oread - Student of Stone Monk / Monk of the Four Winds (-> starts with elemental fist)
I'm not sure why I'm drawn to this one, I do have a tiny bit of experience playing a monk. In my head I want to fluff her as being of dwarven ancestry instead of human (wouldn't change anything mechanically) but I don't know if that's allowed. Do you all think that character would suit this party and series of adventures?
Other ideas being entertained:
- Ifrit - Bloodrager (Elemental Bloodline) (-> no spells til level 4 so basically a barbarian but with bloodline powers)
- Aasimar Angel-blooded Paladin (-> also no spells til level 4; maybe Iomedae, Sarenrae or Milani?)
- Oread/Dwarven Cleric/Warpriest/Paladin/Fighter (obviously the least formed idea. I like the idea of going divine but haven't found any archetypes that speak to me yet. Paladin is the only class I have played before of this list.)
Pre-built ready to go characters if y'all are impatient to start:
- Level 1 Human Varisian Pilgrim Cleric (-> not a front-liner, gives everyone rerolls)
- Level 2 Human Bladed Kapenia Dancer Magus (-> melee, AC17)
Thoughts/Opinions/Suggestions? What would the party most like to see in the last slot?

Amusingly, I also toyed with the idea of a monk for this group.
I think the elemental fist monk fits thematically and it sounds like you're excited and intrigued by playing them, and the character you're most interested in playing is always better than the most fitting and/or OP choice :=)
And yes, I think the Dwarven fluff is just fine. It's flavor text.

Still varying on making her an Elemental Unchained Monk instead, probably mechanically stronger. But I'd have to buy another book for that one.
"Earth Affinity" racial trait doesn't appear to do anything for me since I'm not a spellcaster, any (non-super-spoilery) reason to keep it for Tyranny of Winds?
Also, her name and personality are based on Pinkie Pie's sister from My Little Pony. :D

Pinkie Pie is my favorite!!!!
If there's an alternate racial trait you like better, I think you should take it. I can't see earth affinity doing anything for you unless you multiclass. Just my two

Any equipment suggests for a monk (for under 100g - I'm definitely buying healing)? My last monk was a Zen Archer, so that one was pretty obvious. I'm buying some basic monk weapons just for versatile weapon damage. Save up for bracers of armor?
Also, I am pretty sure Elemental Fist works with any attack, but that is up to GM interpretation I suppose. The feat doesn't say anything about being limited to unarmed strikes (like Stunning Fist does).

![]() |

As written, elemental fist is simply "the attack" and refers to itself in its description as elemental strike. I think it's an example of a typo that was never errata'd.
Gear-wise, saving for armor-boosting stuff or an amulet of mighty fists would be my suggestion.

![]() |

Yeah Amulet of Mighty Fists is definitely on the long term list! Alchemical items is a good suggestion too. I spent the majority of my money on scrolls (2 CLW & 2 Mage Armor) as we have people in the party that can cast them for me, and they're cheaper than potions. *thumbs up sign*
Because of that 20g for alchemist's fire is rough though, I don't want to trade out anything else, so instead I will buy lamp oil (1sp, 50% chance to ignite as alchemist's fire, takes a full round to prepare) instead. S&&%tier version, but MUCH cheaper, and still gives options if needed.
That was the last thing I needed, so she is *officially done*.

Creatures encountering an illusion usually do not receive saving throws to recognize it as illusory until they study it carefully or interact with it in some fashion.
A successful saving throw against an illusion reveals it to be false, but a figment or phantasm remains as a translucent outline.
A failed saving throw indicates that a character fails to notice something is amiss. A character faced with proof that an illusion isn't real needs no saving throw. If any viewer successfully disbelieves an illusion and communicates this fact to others, each such viewer gains a saving throw with a +4 bonus.
This page is also helpful, writes out the more detailed rules for illusions from Ultimate Intrigue: https://rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/102601/at-what-point-do-you-count-a s-interacting-with-an-illusion

So this is still a work in process, but one of my best friend's kids drew an updated character portrait for Maud, and I think it's just adorable (and way better than I was expecting from a kid!) So I wanted to share:
click me (very small image though - from facebook)

Sorry for all the confusion. Been a long past few days. Here's the breakdown. Incorporeal creatures only take half damage from corporeal sources.
-Carlin/Disrupt undead: 5 damage -> 2 damage
-Dominic/magic whip: 3 -> 1
-Maud/electricity: 6 -> 3
-Cevrik/magic dagger: 8 -> 4
Total damage: 10
You're almost there!

I don't expect us to stop exploring for 4 days just to rest to get my strength all the way back up - frankly I don't think we have enough rations either. However, resting for 1 night would get rid of 1 point of str damage, leaving me with 3 which is only a -1 to everything instead of -2 if I understand it right. Also get rid of my nonlethal damage. So that's good enough for me, for now.

![]() |

Willard considers for a moment, I do not know that the other spells I can cast would be any more or less effective than what I've prepared already, but should we rest I can re-examine my options...
My offensive spells are pretty limited to working on not undead opponents- sleep, color spray, ray of enfeeblement. I've got Adhesive Spittle prepared, but didn't think it would work on the shadow

![]() |

We can just plan here in Discussion.
Here are Dominic's 1st level spells: Chill Touch, Color Spray, Frostbite, Long Arm, Magic Missile, Monkey Fish, Shield, Shocking Grasp
Feel free to copy what you can/want. Maybe magic missile vs the undead?
Dominic would like to get Ray of Enfeeblement from you.

![]() |

If we do decide to camp that'd be swell by me! Magic Missile would probably be very useful in these encounters: I have adhesive spittle, color spray, sleep, ray of enfeeblement, mage armor, obscuring mist, comprehend languages, heightened awareness, and endure elements...

![]() |

I'm swapping out frostbite for chill touch. It won't hurt undead, but it can make them flee. Then I'm taking Disrupt Undead. I figure you other magical types can take care of detecting magic.

![]() |

Cevrik is switching out produce flame with magic fang. That would have been super helpful against that shadow since Dumpling is the one who's actually built to hit things :=/

FYI, I am probably not going to be posting at all on Christmas Day. You have permission to bot me if necessary. (Setting up bot section today)

sorry my computer hasn't been letting me log in for the last week I will try to get caught up. I'm actually really frustrated because I talked to paizo customer service a week ago and they said "they were aware of the problem and trying to fix it" nothing about "everyone else can still use it - try resetting your cookies"

Can everyone double check the Player Statuses? From now on, will post an update after each combat/encounter.

Thanks! Mine looks correct, I've got Mage armor up and running (noted in the profile)
also I used the wand of infernal healing on Dominic after he was hit by the arrows, so I think he should be in better health?
