Speaking as one of the designer/authors of the Southlands, I have to tell you I haven't been this psyched for a desert-themed rpg since the 1st edition Deserts of Desolation or Al-Qadim.
I just wrote a sneak peek for the Kobold Press blog on the Imajaghan, the blue-turbaned paladins of the tamasheq nomads.
Two words for you: Elemental Companion.
Forget that summoned horse or sword! Who wouldn't want a stone elemental backing you up?
Give the Southlands a look. You won't be disappointed.

Jim Groves is working on one of the adventures for 8 Arabian Nights, and he's coming fresh off his work on The Half Dead City. We've got a line getting the designers from Hamunaptra on this project, too, so it's looking better and better!
I'm back to mining for fossil water...err, finishing the last sections! :)

I am considering asking Richard Pett to join the design crew for Southlands. It seems like he would add a lot to the project, but then I remember that his contribution to Deep Magic involved Rakshasas and monkey poo and impudent homunculi. Hmmmmmm...
Should Richard Pett be a stretch goal for Southlands? I humbly consult the Paizo hivemind!

Uh?....YES! Even if all he is doing is figuring out a few crazy tables to add to the project...YES!
Perhaps he could take on the challenge of the awakened lemurs and their treebound (or should I say impaled) god?

Agreed! Richard Pett and Southlands ... Priceless :)
Only about $200 or so until we hit $48,000 which unlocks The Servants of the White Ape. After that, there are two rapid-fire stretch goals to knock down (one at $49,000 and one at $50,000)
AND ... only 50 or so backers to go and then the Southlands Bestiary becomes a STAND ALONE, SECOND book!

I loved the first ed. Deserts of Desolation series,-one of my all time favorites. I don's supose those authors are avaliable? Probably not, I assume Tracy and Laura Hickman are either super busy or retired from adventure writing. Now that I would buy no matter what.

Hey there roysier!
Seven of the eight adventures in Eight Arabian Nights are Arabian. Currently the Tomb of the Elephant god is the only one that could be considered Egyptian (insofar as tombs are considered more Egyptian).
I also LOVED the Deserts of Desolation series- it's probably my favorite after the Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh
Not sure what Tracy and Laura Hickman are doing now ...

Be sure to pop over and check out some of Amber Scott's thoughts on her upcoming adventure The Tomb-Palace of Nakresh, part of the Nine Arabian Nights adventure collection.

We've knocked down a HUGE number of stretch goals so far - the Southlands Bestiary is now a big, awesome book unto itself; the Arabian Nights collection of adventures is up to NINE adventures now (with the chance to go to TEN soon) ... and there are still plenty of awesome goals to be revealed ... including some *really* amazing ones! )
We are also only 14 backers away from hitting 700 Backers, which of course unlocks its own cool reward
With only 7 days left, things are going to be going into over drive soon, so be sure to spread the word and, if you haven't gotten involved yet ... what are you waiting for!?!?!?!? :)

Thanks to our more than 700 backers, the Southlands project has unlocked more than 30 stretch goals.
Added to the Core Book
So far, we've added 15 items to the core Southlands hardcover. They include:
- A big city guide section on Per-Bastet, the City of Cats, which is a crossroads city of the region, plus a map of the area.
- The City of Gnoll Raiders, a hidden stronghold full of scoundrels and slavers.
- A big expansion for the Southlands pantheon, with details on more than 15 gods.
- Additional maps and art for the book.
- The Bastet priesthood, with new domains, NPCs, and spells, by Amanda Hamon Kunz.
- The Lost City of the Serpent Crown.
- Lotus Magic and details about the Well of Urd.
- New player societies by Steve Kenson, Ari Marmell, and C.A. Suleiman.
- Ramag, the Monolith Kingdom, by Brian Suskind.
- The Floating Village, by Paizo developer Adam Daigle.
- The Great Hive of Arbeyach,a city of the tosculi insectfolk, by Wolfgang Baur.
- A second round of additional art and maps for the core book, including regional maps.
- New art commissioned from Fred Fields.
- Ishadia, the celestial kingdom of the aasimar.
- The City of Crimson Pillars, a place of ancient horrors, by Wolfgang Baur.
- 8 Bonus PDFs
That's an AWESOME list, and there's even more to come (including a TENTH adventure added to the Arabian Nights Adventure collection and an AWESOME set of custom Southlands dice!) ... but there's only five days left! This week is the FINAL week!

Less than $800 to go to add Necrology of the Mummy by Mr. Richard Pett to the Southlands Core book (I've lost count how many pages the Core book is up to at this point! :) AND add Advanced Races: Werelion to the growing pile of bonus PDFs!
Oh, and less than 40 more backers needed to unlock the custom Southlands set of dice.
And speaking of dice:
Confessions of a Dice Geek :)

This is it! Speak now or forever hold your peace. You don't have to go home but you can't stay here! :) Bottom of the ninth, two outs and bases loaded! Tie score, 30 seconds left and Landon's about to take the penalty kick!
Today - Friday - is the FINAL DAY for the Southlands Kickstarter!!!!
More than 920 backers have signed up for their ticket to the Southlands, and have unlocked a metric ton of cool stretch goals — more than 40, at last count!
The core Southlands hard cover book has become a weighty tome because it now has more than 20 additions to the text and graphics!
And that's not even mentioning the second book, the Southlands Bestiary ... or the Ten Arabian Nights collection of adventures, or the 11 PDF extras, or the set of limited edition custom dice ... you get the idea :)
Now we’re down to the final day and our very last stretch goals. About five crazy things happen if we can reach 1,001 backers, including a really big one which I don't think has been revealed yet. We can get there, but only with your help. Every new backer, even one who just pledges $1 gets up closer to that magical 1,001 number!
Tell your players, your GM, or your friends online about this project today, because it's all over tonight!
