Is Goblinworks going to stay with Twitch TV ?

Twitch just implemented the engine that Youtube uses for copy written music.
http://blog.twitch.tv/2014/08/3136/
Basically, they're muting VODs and streams that play music*, and removing all videos (with and without music) three weeks or older.
Some streamers are moving over to other smaller streaming services... I'm curious where PFO streamers will be on sept 15th.

*in game music is being muted too !

Boony posted that message from Twitch.tv in the Alpha Forums and didn't say anything about switching, so I expect Goblinworks will continue using it. I have no plans to switch.

They aren't muting streams, just VOD's. So you have to turn off your music/game music if you want to create a video.

I'm pretty sure for streaming you just need to display the song details somewhere.

Hopefully, Goblinworks hasn't registered their game music to cause our streams to be muted.

Again, it is just recorded video, streams are not being muted.

What they do is scan videos in 30min chunks, if there is copyrighted material in that chunk it gets muted.

If you plan on having videos turn off game music, and don't broadcast copyrighted music. There are a few solutions out there for music chatrooms if you want music for your channel. I can't recall their names.

For the record, Bonny just warned us in the Alpha Forums not to start our streams until after the game music stopped if we didn't want to have our videos muted.

yeah, sorry, I just caught Emmett Shear's AMA and came here to clear up my post.
Yes, streaming is safe. For now : )

The Twitch VoD system sucks anyway. I would strongly encourage people to export all of their not-live stuff to YouTube either way.

Hi guys!

Just wanted to touch base here.

1. This will not be implemented on live streaming. Only for VODS.

2. We are working on giving Twitch approval to not mute our music. In the mean time just make sure that you start the stream after the intro music to be on the safe side. Once we give Twitch approval and they get it in the system, I will let you all know.

3. Goblinworks is not going to another stream. We will stay with Twitch.tv and on the same channel.

Thanks guys!

So can I assume that the PFO soundtrack is finished and was submitted to Audible Magic?

Otherwise it shouldn't get flagged.

Assumptions are never a good thing :) We are currently going through the process of having the current music submitted. Once there is more to submit, we will send that in as well.

:D

Will all current and future videos have an active lifespan of only three weeks, or is that just a one-time event as part of this change?

Grand Lodge PFO Community Manager

The announcement for VOD lifetime will remain in effect. If you wish to have it stay indefinitely you need to highlight it. Highlights now have a max of two hours, but they will not remove OLD highlights that are longer than two hours.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad they won't automatically delete all videos after three weeks.
