And now I have to wonder....

Was there ever a Monday that didn't suck balls in some way? I mean, the odds are there must have been. Especially across more than 5 decades. They can't all have been irredeemably horrid. Right?

Scarab Sages

Ah, f$#k it. Ain't much that can be done about it anyway. Might as well except the inevitable sucktasticness of Monday and move on.

Scarab Sages

I had a pretty decent drive to the office today. There is this one wretched person with a glittery license plate who drives like a maniac (and coming from me, that's saying something), but I've gotten much better at ignoring people like that.

To be honest, as long as someone doesn't slow me down, I don't care if they get ahead of me or not. And as long as they don't make me catch a light.

Scarab Sages

Watched Dredd last night. I have it on physical media, but decided to take advantage of it being on HBO Max. This way, the sound was better.

Scarab Sages

I keep telling myself to get speaker set for the TV. And I keep putting it off. Along with so many other things.

Scarab Sages

My arm was really sore most of yesterday and into the night, thanks to that damnable tetanus shot. It's feeling a bit better now, though. Maybe a good night's sleep did the trick. At least somewhat.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, time to go start another wasteful week (and get paid for it).

Scarab Sages

Interesting. I was just reading where that K-Pop Demon Hunters movie, which has been streaming on Netflix since June, just made $18 Million at the domestic box office this weekend. This was the limited engagement sing-a-long event. I kept teasing my wife about putting the idea in my daughter's head that she wanted mom to take her.

Scarab Sages

Hmmmm....

After months of ignoring the "check-in" meetings he set up, my supervisor suddenly set up a new meeting for this Wednesday. Just one meeting. Not sure how I should take this, but it does leave me slightly uncomfortable.

Scarab Sages

Ah well. Not much I can do to make him happy anyway. There's too much other stuff stressing him out.

Scarab Sages

Happy Tuesday?!?

Scarab Sages

Doubtful, since I'm in the office.

Scarab Sages

At least I had a semi-decent drive to the office. Despite a few big rigs picking the most inopportune time to get in everyone's way.

Scarab Sages

Although I do at least have a nice training session to put on my timesheet for today. It's technically a lunch and learn, but it goes on for an hour and a half, which is more than we get for lunch.

I don't actually care about what the session is covering. It's electrical stuff. Still, it could be useful to learn.

Scarab Sages

Otherwise, I'll be doing what I've been doing for most of the past few months - assigning myself various specs and standards to review.

Scarab Sages

My wife had the dog out in the backyard yesterday, and a squirrel ran along the side fence, towards the back fence. So, of course, the dog chased it. As the squirrel got to the back fence, the dog did not quite slow down enough and....well...the fence had a hole I needed to patch.

Scarab Sages

At least I got a humorous Book of the Face post out of it.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, time to finish up things here, then move on to another glorious and exciting day in the office.

Woohoo

Scarab Sages

Well, the training lunch and learn we had today was more interesting than I thought it would be. Certainly, somewhat lively, as we had plenty of people asking questions and engaging.

Plus, there was pizza. And even though it was Dominos, free pizza is always welcome. In moderation.

Scarab Sages

And I had a sit down with my supervisor. Nothing much on its face, but I'm fairly certain there was more to it than he was willing to admit. He claims there's more work coming down the line. I shall, as the young kids say, "press X to doubt".

Scarab Sages

I've been going out of my way to be quieter and more restrained here at work. According to my supervisor, some people have noticed. A few of them apparently even thought there was something wrong with me.

I mean...yeah there's something wrong with me. Lots of somethings, if I'm honest. Probably has been for years. That's something else altogether though.

Scarab Sages

Happy Wednesday?!?

Scarab Sages

It's Day Three of the Hostage Situation, with only one more day to go before a four-day weekend. So, yeah. Maybe it is a little "happy".

Scarab Sages

Although, I did have a really crappy start to my drive this morning. Came upon some utter jackass who should not have a driver's license. He was going at or just under the speed limit, in the passing lane of a two-lane road, keeping pace with a school bus in the next lane and building up traffic behind him.

Thankfully, I did finally get around him, but still. That kind of idiot is just as bad as the people who go too fast. Most of the people around here are pretty good about going between 5-9 mph over the speed limit. That's typically a pretty solid pace. Couple that with a bit of good timing, and you can miss catching a lot of lights.

Scarab Sages

Anyway...

I took off on Friday for a follow-up dentist appointment. And Monday is Labor Day. So...four day weekend for me. Huzzah!

Scarab Sages

Going back to my meeting with my supervisor yesterday. He reiterated a previous point with me about a problem project that is finishing up. He wants to pull me in on the as-built documents.

I have very little prior work on this project. I created a PDF of an existing Stress report. I chimed in on one RFI. That's it. The as-builts, however, supposedly will incorporate a lot of redlines. I have a feeling they want me pulled in so they can get my name on the documents and have me as a fall guy (or one of them) to blame many of the project's woes on.

At least, it wouldn't surprise me if that was their plan.

Scarab Sages

So, enough about crap at this s#@thole.

Scarab Sages

We had a nice scout meeting last night. The scouts had fun. I got to do at least one Board of Review.

The only downside was I had to deal with the new version of Scoutbook. That's the online system where we keep track of the rosters and all the advancements and rewards the scouts earn. And the new version has....bugs. Lots of bugs. It's...frustrating. Especially considering they've spent a seeming very long time (months) slowly transitioning and rolling this change out.

Scarab Sages

Hey, though! I did get to take two hostages myself! One scout left his merit badge paperwork behind (thankfully, it's already finished and entered into Scoutbook). The other left his handbook behind.

So now I have to either find some newspaper or see if Word actually does have a "ransom note" font.

Scarab Sages

It's been a good while since I had to create a ransom note.

Scarab Sages

I still got to watch a few episodes of Twilight Zone before I went to bed. Good stuff.

Scarab Sages

YEEEEAAAAARRRGGGHHH!!!

That is all.

Scarab Sages

Happy Thursday!

Scarab Sages

Even though I've got another boring day to look forward to, I had a pretty decent drive to the office. And I took PTO tomorrow. And we have a holiday Monday.

So, yes. Happy.

Scarab Sages

Happy enough, anyway.

Scarab Sages

Of course, I do have a dentist appointment tomorrow. Those are never very fun, but they can be somewhat enjoyable. And I happen to really like my dentist.

Scarab Sages

I only watched one episode of Twilight Zone last night, and that one was during dinner. Later that night, I watched the new Terminal List instead. I loved the first one. This one has started off pretty strong. Seems like it's going to be less a mystery and more a straight up agents dismantling a terrorist network type story.

Either way, I'm two episodes in and enjoying it so far.

Scarab Sages

I also made some more progress on cataloging my comics. So that's always a good thing.

Scarab Sages

If I'm being honest, the reason I put off the cataloging so far is because I was a bit intimidated. Knowing it took me years to bag and board everything, I though the same would be true of this. And yet, it's been about a month, and I think I'm already about half-way through my collection. I've got just shy of 7000 books cataloged.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, time to move on to other things. I don't do this often enough, but....sending out positive waves to all the good folk out in the wide world today.

Scarab Sages

Except that guy. That guy's a butt head.

Scarab Sages

Happy Friday!

Scarab Sages

Despite my impending visit with the dentist to get a crown put on a tooth.

Scarab Sages

Because I'm not in the office.

Scarab Sages

I also have plans to visit the eye doctor sometime after my dentist visit. I was in there about a month back, and got some new glasses out of the visit. They were supposed to be the same frame as my old ones, but they were most definitely not.

The new frame was much heavier. It kept slipping down my nose. I was almost constantly adjusting them or pushing them back up. So I'm thinking a different material. Maybe even a different style.

Scarab Sages

And, of course, now that the new glasses were bothering me, the old ones are starting to irritate me as well. I'm guessing that might be some kind of psychosomatic thing.

Scarab Sages

And, of course, there are the usual things I get done on a Friday.

Scarab Sages

So that's a good portion of my plan for today: dentist, eye doctor, cleaners, something for lunch. I'll probably do a bit of bagging and boarding or comic cataloging as well.

Scarab Sages

Hell, maybe I'll even do some mapping. I've been neglecting that particular hobby for quite some time now.

Scarab Sages

I worked my way through the first three episodes of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf. After this, they come once a week. It's been pretty decent so far. Maybe not as good as the first series, but decent.
