Well, I made it through another week. And now it's "work" from home day. Huzzah!

Scarab Sages

I suppose you can call what I have planned "work". I'm delving into this website called Hexagon University. They have training modules for Caesar II, something I'd like to get better at. I'm sure there's a lot of the functionality I haven't learned yet that would make my use of it way easier.

And this keeps on track with the rest of how I learned Caesar II, which is basically about 85% self-taught. The other 15% of my current knowledge comes from the younger mechanical engineer who left the company. He knew some little tips, tricks, and typical stuff.

Scarab Sages

And at some point, I've got to check with the people who make some other software we use. It's supposed to have a way to integrate certain results in with a Caesar analysis, and I really would like to figure that one out as well.

Scarab Sages

Or I could do some searching on Youtube. That's how I figured out underground pipe modelling.

Scarab Sages

I don't think I'll have much else to do. My supervisor is out of the office (on PTO this time) and it's not like management is bringing in new work....

Scarab Sages

In fact, I just heard the other day they failed to bring in yet another project.

Scarab Sages

After the release of the new Mortal Kombat II trailer, the boy and I decided to watch the previous Mortal Kombat movie, from 2021. So we did that after I played a bit of Hogwarts Legacy.

Scarab Sages

Aaaahhhhhh....

Five sneezes in just a few minutes. What the hell?!?

Scarab Sages

There was Popeye's for lunch, however. So that made for a somewhat lovely day.

Scarab Sages

And the online training I was taking today reaped what I think will be some benefits. There's stuff I didn't know that I think will definitely come in handy. Especially when it comes to creating reports.

Scarab Sages

I saw the Late Show was cancelled. I remember watching it back in the day when Letterman was on. To be honest, I had realized it was still on. I don't watch regular TV though, so my unawareness is kind of understandable.

Scarab Sages

Not to mention, if I were up late enough to watch a show like that, then something would be very wrong with the universe.

Scarab Sages

My wife does not want to go see Superman. My son said he does. My daughter was mostly indifferent but agreed she would see it. Now to find two+ hours of my life I'd like to waste.

Scarab Sages

Happy Saturday!

Scarab Sages

I stayed up way too late last night. No one to blame but myself. I was playing Hogwarts, and kept saying to myself "Well, I'll just do this one ore thing..." over and over. Next thing I knew, it was 11:30.

Scarab Sages

I did have a nice glass of mead while I was playing, though.

Scarab Sages

The wife's birthday is in 5 days. Earlier this week, I texted both children to think about what they wanted to get her as a gift.

The boy got back to me a day or so later, saying he had a gift in mind - A fan that she could put around her neck. I had to sadly inform him that gift had already been purchased.....by me.

My daughter? I'm honestly not even sure she saw the text. I'll find out in a little while.

Scarab Sages

Hopefully, whatever items they come up with won't need ordering from Amazon (or anywhere else), since I don't think we could get it in time for her birthday.

Scarab Sages

Unlike a certain awesome dude who shall remain nameless, my wife does not provide a convenient list of items that would make good gifts. Hell, she doesn't even give hints. Except on extremely rare occasions.

Scarab Sages

Not sure what's going on today, other than the usual. It'll be either today or tomorrow when the kids and I go to see Superman. I might try to make it today, since I only had the one glass of mead last night, today will be much easier.

Scarab Sages

I should at least have ample opportunity to discuss the upcoming birthday gift situation with my daughter. I should be picking her up from art class today.

Scarab Sages

When I took the dog out to potty last night, her friend Mr. Raccoon was hanging about. At least, I assume it was Mr. Raccoon. The dog was looking up at the small trees growing over the top of the back fence and getting all excited.

The only flashlight I had on my was from my phone, and it wasn't enough to light up that area.

Scarab Sages

Anyway...almost time to get a move on. And I still have to figure out what to do for dinner tonight and (more importantly) tomorrow.

Scarab Sages

Twas a mostly good day. The children and I went to see Superman, and I left my thoughts over in the movie’s thread.

Scarab Sages

Now I’m debating whether to watch the original Christopher Reeve version.

Scarab Sages

Happy Sunday!

Scarab Sages

I'm certainly hoping for a nice, relatively quiet Sunday. I'm hoping to spend most of the day reading and doing some chores around the house.

Scarab Sages

I did end up watching the original '78 Superman last night. My daughter watched it as well. Though she was bored by the movie at points, she said she enjoyed it.

It reminded me of what a Superman movie should feel like. It should feel...EPIC.

Scarab Sages

I told my daughter that perhaps we could follow it up with the first Batman movie. The classic from '89 with Keaton and Nicholson.

Scarab Sages

I considered Superman II, but that does have the love scene between Clark and Lois. Not sure if she's ready for that yet, even though I don't recall it being graphic.

Scarab Sages

And the Batman movie might be a little more exciting for her.

Scarab Sages

Switching topics....

I took the dog out for her morning potty session a few hours ago, and for some reason she wouldn't venture too far out into the grass. She did her business just off to the side of the back patio, then quickly came in.

Not sure what had her spooked. I didn't see, smell, or hear anything out of the ordinary.

Scarab Sages

Aaaarrrrghhh!!! Stupid kitchen faucet is loose again. The nut that holds it tight backs off a bit over time. Which means I'll have to climb under there and tighten it back up again.

I can already feel my poor back hurting, just thinking about it.

Scarab Sages

At the comic book store yesterday, on a whim, I bought another of the NECA 7-inch D&D action figures. This time it was Grimsword. That's another one I had the original action figure for back in the day. Might still have him somewhere around the house.

So that makes four total in my collection: Grimsword, Zarak, Warduke, and Elkhorn.

Scarab Sages

I noticed that Paizo has started putting out novels again. Sadly, none of the new ones look like anything I'd care to read. Perhaps that'll change in the future, but I won't hold my breath.

Still, it made me realize how long it's been since the payment method I had attached to my account expired. It's been several years since I last bought a Paizo product. The big part of that is because I simply don't game anymore. And the last time I did game, it was 5E D&D.

Part of that is for...other reasons.

Scarab Sages

Happy Monday?!?

Scarab Sages

We shall see. From my own point of view, it all depends on what the work week has in store for me. Could be good. Could be crap.

Scarab Sages

The drive in was, at the least, semi-decent. Caught a few lights. Missed a few others. There was a bit of unexpected road work going on, but it didn't slow us down. There were also some silly people, but I was able to get around them.

Scarab Sages

I spent the evening watching animated Justice League. That was cool. There was Justice League, which lasted for two seasons. They followed that up almost immediately with Justice League Unlimited. Both shows had plenty of comic book writers working on them. I think that's one of the reasons they were so awesome.

Scarab Sages

To this day, I think if DC had wanted a successful DC live action universe, they should have put some of the animated show runners and writers in charge of the writing and development of an overarching plot. It would have been far superior to anything Gunn can come up with.

Scarab Sages

You just don't put people like that in charge of actually making the live action film. They probably don't have any experience working with live action, which would hamper their effectiveness at making the actual movies.

Scarab Sages

I accidentally left my grill on all last night. I cooked burgers last night and have gotten into the habit of leaving it on a bit to burn off any excess meat sticking to the grill. Stupid mistake. Thankfully, it wasn't more costly.

Scarab Sages

The wife's birthday is this coming Thursday. I had already purchased at least one gift for her earlier this month. I've got a few more on order. They should all be delivered by Wednesday.

Scarab Sages

I also picked up a bottle of wine for her this Saturday, but then she mentioned yesterday that she hadn't had wine in a month. Well, damn.

Scarab Sages

Happy Tuesday?!?

Scarab Sages

For others? I certainly hope so. For myself? I doubt it. Yesterday kind of sucked, and I don't see any reason why today will be any better.

Scarab Sages

At least I had a fairly adequate drive to the office. It kind of sucked to start, catching various lights. But there was a point when I got ahead of this dude who'd been acting the a-hole, and it was nice to see him get caught behind slower people and "left in my dust" so to speak.

Scarab Sages

There's this project here at work that's caused us all kinds of headaches. Thankfully, it's nearing the end. I wasn't on it. At least not until now.

When the younger ME left the company, I got stuck as the ME on this particular project from hell. Luckily, most of the mechanical work seems to be done now. Still, every now and then an issue pops up I have to deal with.

Scarab Sages

Yesterday was one of those days that's "every now and then". Apparently, whatever idiots designed the system had a CL600 flange mated up to a CL900 flange, with a bleed ring in between. Problem is, at a 1" pipe size the CL900 flange uses CL1500 dimensions. So, the bolt hole circles won't be the same size.

I kept my involvement to a minimum. Told them the bolt holes wouldn't match, and that they'd have to use a flange adapter. I left that up to the pipe designer who probably made the mistake with the flanges to begin with. I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to get me more involved so they could blame me for the design error.

Scarab Sages

And I was having more issues with my sound yesterday afternoon. Couldn't get any sound to work with bluetooth devices. Even though it was working fine that morning. Stupid computer.
