Happy Birthday Sam Jones III!

Anyway...not much planned for today. Probably play some D4. First comes a bit of job hunting. Then a walk around the lake. Probably a shower.

And I've got to consider returning a call I received yesterday evening, while I was eating dinner. The voicemail was from a private number, but he claimed to be with the HR department of a company I applied at. Not sure if it's legit or not. Could just be he's looking to scam me.

Had a nice walk around the lake. The weather was surprisingly cooler than I expected. This was thanks to the overcast sky and slight breeze. I didn't bring my phone with me, which was pleasant. I was kicking myself in the butt about it, though, because there were some (very tiny) baby ducks following their mom around. My daughter would have loved a picture of them.

After I got out the shower, I was headed upstairs to call back the dude who called me yesterday. And he suddenly called again. So we had a nice, brief chat about the job I to which I had applied. He's going to pass my resume along to the hiring managers and see about getting me an interview.

Now I'm waiting to hear back from my mother. I called to check on her earlier, but she didn't answer. She's was in the ER again last night for stomach problems. Most likely that damnable Diverticulitis again.

She doesn't eat properly. We all know this. My older brother in particular wants us all to bug the crap out of her about it. I am less inclined to blithely follow that advice. She'll be 87 years old this year, and has been known to be stubborn as hell. She's buried a husband, parents, siblings, and friends. I doubt she wants to be lectured by her own children.

Besides that, I'm not so sure the problem is complete diet related. Like I said, she's buried a lot of people. She's lonely. And I have little doubt she's worried about herself being a burden, plus the usual worry she has for all her children. Plus she's got a sister in a home who could really go almost any day. All that has got to be stressful. And I know first hand what stress can do to a body.

I'd love to get her to move to Texas. We could sell her house now and find a nice little place near my younger brother and I. Hell, I could probably find her a place in my neighborhood.

She'll never leave Louisiana, though. Not with siblings still around.

Happy Thursday?!?

I don't have high hopes. Mostly because it started off kind of blah. Woke up at 4:30 this morning, a full hour before my alarm was set to go off, and then couldn't get back to sleep. When I finally stopped trying, I took the dog out to potty and it was raining. Then, while I was doing a bit of early morning gaming on the PS5, the power blinked. Not long. Literally almost a blink. Long enough, however, disrupt the game for 5-10 minutes.

And so, for the first time in three weeks, I'm having a second cup of coffee to start my day. Nevertheless, I expect to feel a little blah most of the day, due to the disrupted sleep.

"I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got runned over by a damned old train"

If you think you are smarter than the previous generations....50 year ago the owners manual of a car showed you how to adjust the valves. Today it warns you not to drink the contents of the battery.

I tried to act casual the other day, in hopes the printer wouldn't realize the job was time sensitive.

The 80's were just different times. We had classrooms with mini guillotines.

Husband: If anyone else whines they have to go right to bed!

Wife: Ugh! My pants are too tight. My feet are too cold. Everyone is being too loud.

Kids: Ha! Mom has to go to bed!

Wife: Goodnight, suckers!

Citizens: We've "flattened the curve" and prevented hospitals from being overwhelmed. Can we go back to work with reasonable precautions now?

Bureaucrats: I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further.

Retirement - Because you've given so much of yourself to the company that you don't have anything left we can use.

According to astronomy, when you wish upon a star you're actually a few million years too late. That star is dead. Just like your dreams.

Saw a report that a Canadian mother objected to some of the content in the school play. So they banned her from campus and reported her to CPS.

Damned filthy commies.

Nice to see a grand jury indicted those two "mostly peaceful" protesters for attacking that reporter.

It seems Ann Arbor, Michigan took down all their Neighborhood Watch signs because they weren't inclusive enough.

And this kind of utter stupidity is why I sometimes hope and pray something will come along and wipe out humanity. So we can't escape off world and infect the rest of the universe.

I saw that Ving Rhames collapsed at a restaurant and was rushed to the hospital. Reports said he was in good spirits. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Hehehehe...It seems poor James Gunn has announced his beloved The Authority movie has been delayed. Gee! A movie about a third rate Justice League knock-off 99.9% of normies has never heard of got delayed?!? I'm shocked!

Archaeology news! A Maya site has been discovered on the Yucatan Peninsula. It contains about 80 or so buildings spread across 250 acres. They think it was probably inhabited between AD 250-900.

Not much planned for today. Some job hunting, of course. Later this afternoon, when the boy gets home, we may head over to REI to get him some new hiking shoes. That way he can break them in this weekend on the troop's May campout.
