The Cross of Fire Saga Adventure Path is a post-apocalyptic survival horror adventure for the Obsidian Apocalypse table top RPG campaign setting for the Pathfinder RPG. The Cross of Fire Saga Adventure Path is the first adventure path for Obsidian Apocalypse, which was released in 2013, as the premiere setting for the post-apocalyptic survival horror genre for Pathfinder. The reason that we are having this Kickstarter project is to generate the funds we need to pay for the cost of development, writing, artwork and printing this adventure path and getting it out to the premiere retail gaming stores. consider my interest peaked. I'd be interested to see what you would plan to do to make pathfinder a good survival horror game.

Good luck with this Kickstarter! I am in. Your setting intrigues me.

Well here are the sources of inspiration for the adventure path:

Part 1: Havoc of the Mind’s Eye – Inspired by the movie, Brotherhood of the Wolf.
Part 2: Ravagers of the Shadow Black – Inspired by the book & movie, Last of the Mohicans
Part 3: Raiders of the Cataclysm – Inspired by the Lord of the Flies
Part 4: Crusaders of the Cross of Fire – [REDACTED]

Not exactly what you might think of when you consider survival horror, but I think you will understand what we mean when it all comes together. Don't forget to send us an email to join our Back it for a Buck (B4$) Challenge!

I will say this we have signed up Christina Stiles & Jeff Lee (both of them worked on several Kobold Press projects including Deep Magic) to work on this project plus some other well known Pathfinder writers (revealing them soon), you should be VERY pleased on this adventure path.

I was already interested in Obsidian Apocalypse Campaign setting, but as a DM I don't yet feel confidant in my home made campaign writing.

An adventure path taking place in the campaign setting would be perfect!

If you put in an addon to grab campaign relevant materials along with the AP it would be pretty convenient on the "one stop" kind of sense.

Try it out. All the cool kids are doing it. :-)

Then you might want to check out the Obsidian Apocalypse Bundle [BUNDLE]. You can get all the products related to Obsidian Apocalypse for less than $25. That is a saving of over 25%. Hope this helps convince you to pick it up. Happy gaming!

I would like to take a second and thank everyone who has have taken the challenge and agreed to Back it for a Buck with the upcoming Cross of Fire Saga Adventure Path. Even though we are less than 100 days out from the start of this kickstarter, it is good to know that there are people even now looking to support us on this project. and we could not be any happier. Thanks again!

The Four Horsemen are going to adding their names to the list of writers working on the upcoming kickstarter, The Cross of Fire Saga Adventure Path for Pathfinder. Steven Helt, winner of 2013 RPG Superstar contest and writer of Pathfinder Module Tears at Bitter Manor and his writing group have signed up to help LPJ Design bring another level of quality to this adventure path with the already amazing skills of Christina Stiles and Jeff Lee. So expect to see lots of previews, behind the scenes material and cool stuff releasing in the very near future. Start saving your money, this one is going to be BIG! Talk to you later…

Just keep you informed the work on this soon to start continues at a steady pace. Expect to see some images and more background info coming out very soon. We are also hoping to make some announcement on some other people who will be added as stretch goal. So don't worry. Just because we are quiet, doesn't mean we are not doing anything. Talk to you later...

I have to say, we are very excited to work on this project for Louis. I've been acting as developer for the Four Horsemen as we tackle some fun ambitious projects, but developing this saga and working with other high-caliber authors makes it even more fun!

Tying the adventure themes into a seamless plot that helps describe a terrifying, post apoc setting, that was the challenge,we signed on for, and developing the plot was one of the, most exciting mestings we've had.

Please be,ready to back this project, and trust that the finale will be a tough, grisly game worthy of its predecessors, and inspired by the most murderous of old school adventures!

I can not wait until the fans see what we have planned for them. Better still I hope they understand, that they might not make it out alive or at least without missing an appendage or two.

When is the kickstarter going to be?

The plan is to have the kickstarter start in late September.

The reason for this is that we are right NOW working on the Cross of Fire Saga AP and plan to have the first draft writing completed BEFORE the kickstarter starts. While the kickstarter is going on, I am planning to do the layout and getting it ready to release. When the kickstarter is over and we have reached our goals, we will be able to release the completed Cross of Fire Saga AP with in a few weeks. There is a method to our madness.

Nice idea. :)

We have been quite for a while as we are working on moving this project along. It is good to know that it looks like we should be 80% with the adventure BEFORE this kickstarter actually starts in late September. The introduction adventure, Long Way Home (see cover here) written by Jeff Lee is going to be finished up this weekend. Plus if you have been following our blog, you know that we have release A LOT of artwork and behind the scenes stuff. So like I told you before save up you money because this kickstarter is going to be perfect for those who loved Obsidian Apocalypse and horror based adventure paths. In just one month, we are going to redefine what horror means in Pathfinder with this adventure path. Enjoy!

T minus 28 Days until the start of the Cross of Fire Saga Adventure Path Kickstarter for Pathfinder

Good news! I will have employment in 30 days! That's enough time to collect a 1 or 2 paychecks before the Kickstarter ends!

I've been interested in 3PP Adventure Paths, so I wanna see this Kickstarter very badly. Will there be a funding option for all the AP volumes?

Yes there will be. There will be an option for All the PDFs; one for the All PDF and any/all rewards; one for the collected PDF in B&W and any/all rewards; And collected PDF in full color and any/all rewards. There are LOTS of different options for rewards.

15 backers in the first couple of hours is a pretty good start. I'd really like to see this thing come to fruition. Not only is this my first published adventure, but I get to start a really incredible story arc written by some fine talent. We've got not one, but two RPG Superstar winners that have written volumes of this Adventure Path.

Jeff is kind to mention the accolades for a couple of our authors, but each one of them is someone you should all watch and support. These authors are knocking it out of the park.

And don't let Jeff sell himself short. He's been on time and easy to work with. He delivered exactly what I asked from him and now we're just tweaking the first adventure of FIVE.

Back us at the $36 today, and then decide if you want to increase it to get the stretch goal products. Imagine, a full adventure path, in your hands, for $36. Plus free web content from the Four Horsemen. You don't find a deal like that often, and you won't see a story as unique and gritty as this for a while.

Shh! You'll ruin my rep. I'll have to stop wearing my "Does Not Play Well With Others" shirt.

The page is great. The pitch is strong. The goal and stretch goals are fun and reasonable.

The only thing that feels off is the lack of spoken word in the Kickstarter video. I believe that every kickstarter needs that personal touch.

Also backed for a Dollar with the intent to move up to the 65 Pledge level within 2 weeks.

Personal touch? You mean after all these videos and blog post about Cross of Fire Saga for the last 6 months you need MORE of a personal touch? OK I get it. Personally I am not a fan of the "talking head" video that people are starting to do of late. That is why I do my Transparency Agenda videos for the fans. Transparency Agenda is 100% LPJ with no filter while the Kickstarter videos are more for a clean and professional look to them.

But with all that said the thing that should sell you on this is the quality of the people involved with it. I mean we have not just one but TWO RPG Superstars working on this project. That alone should get most people interested.

I think what Insain Dragoon is saying is that if someone doesn't follow your video posts, they aren't getting that personal touch. You could always put a link to the Transparency Agenda on the Kickstarter page, so newcomers get a background on how this all got started.

Stop looking at my personal notes...

I'm not. Now how much does it scare you that we're starting to think alike?

Final revisions to #0: Long Way Home are being done at this moment. Then I have to sketch out a map for the final encounter so the cartographer can take my preschool-ish attempt and turn it into something wonderful.

The art, people! The art that I've seen thus far for this AP is amazing. The cover art for my piece was so cool it inspired me to go back and tweak the encounter that inspired it so it was more like the art.

Yeah, when I saw the art on the KS page I thoufht "this is 3PP?!" It's amazing art.

I kope to show off MUCH more artwork over the next few weeks of this kickstarter. Everyone in the 3PP community knows how serious I am about artwork so I only want the best possible to show off with this kickstarter. An artist's work you might want to check out because he is going to do a LOT of head shots and magic items is Lance Red. Lance has done a LOT of great work I can not wait for people to see.

My only regret is that I can't afford the full color print copy.

Only 16 more backers and the kickstarter reaches its first threshold goal! At that point, anyone that has pledged $9 or more can submit two original hazards for possible publication.

Insain Dragoon wrote:

Don't forget this kickstarter does end until November 4th. You can still save enough money in that time to pick up the PDFs which will be in full color. Just a thought...

And of course, if we reach a certain stretch goal, some of those designs could be published alongside the Four Horsemen in the high-level hazard guide!

I currently have a Dollar in it now, just so I can add to your backer numbers. My goal is to get my backing up to 65$ by the end of the month and get the B&W Print+PDF. If I have an outstanding month at work (commission sales) I'll bump up to 90 for the full color. I had a significant car repair this month and it ruined my plans to support two other Kickstarters. I chose Cross of Fire over SKR's Five Moons RPG and the Reaper Mecha mini kickstarters.

I've been spreading info around about this Kickstarter and Obsidian Apocalypse too because I really want to see this succeed. I like the attitude you display on these boards and how you guys describe yourselves, so I'm naturally inclined to want to buy your products.

Not a problem because we know that with LPJ Design kickstarter every dollar is important. So if all you can give right now is a buck, thank you for that buck!

As always, thanks for the support!

Now for some great news we are only 13 people away from reaching our first donor goal of 50 Donors: All Donors at $9 and up can Submit 2 Hazards for possible publication. That is right you get the opportunity to submit material that will give many of you your FIRST published writing credit. And is only the beginning. See what as little as $9 can get you. As always, thanks for the support!
