A giant has passed. If you have never read any of his work, stop by the library, pick up one of his works, then just try to shelve it and walk away. His strange, lovely, horrible, beautiful stories will haunt you.

One of those writers who made you see the world through a different lens.
I am reminded of Gerald Davies' tribute to the late, great Ray Gravell: “I shall not say, though, that we will never see his like again for I hope we do. There could be no poorer way to honour Grav than to assume his spirit is perished, never more to arise."
Commemorativly rereading Autumn of a Patriarch. GGM's fiery word choice and cadence were singular and will be uniquely missed.

For a distinctly American take on magical realism, I recommend Sean Stewart. A lot of the same focuses and techniques, but used to highlight different cultural questions. (Mockingbird and Perfect Circle are probably the two most developed examples.)
