How do I run PFS games online?

GM Discussion

I have a group of 6 players on roll20 who would all like to play PFS and I would like to run it but we're all completely new to organized play like this. I've read over the latest version of the guide and I noticed it doesn't address online play at all.

I'm slated to run The Confirmation on Wednesday January 29th (tomorrow) but I'm still confused as to how certain things work. Namely, how do I check over my players' character sheets and ensure they get their chronicle sheets so that they can take their characters elsewhere and play without any problems?

I have no idea how to check their character sheets remotely but for the chronicle sheets, I'm thinking that I might be able to electronically fill and sign the sheets then email them to my players? I just worry that if they took that to their FLGSs or to a convention, the GMs there might not accept it. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thank you,

Most often I extract the chronicle sheet and turn it into a form-fillable PDF. I save the finished copy as a JPG and add it to my Dropbox. For those who can't manage that the fall back is filling them out by hand and scanning them in. This obviously wastes paper and ink and should be a last resort.

Character sheets are much easier to handle, since they can just be entered by hand or scanner. When I ask for chronicles I tend to expect a scanned copy. It is a pretty good idea to scan chronicles so you have a digital copy if disaster strikes your paper copies.

So a dm at a local store or a con would accept a print out of a chronicle sheet electronically filled out? That's the main thing I'm worrying about. I don't want my players to ever not get credit for their actions because of me screwing something up =x

I am sure there are some GMs that may be skeptical of it, but about the only way you can be assured they won't is to hand jam it and scan it to them, then maybe mail the hardcopy to them just in case. I have never had a GM bat an eye at my printed chronicles, but that doesn't mean I won't.

I really wouldn't worry about it too much.

The only time I think about auditing is if someone has things they really shouldn't, and I think they misunderstood their fame or something. 90% of "cheating" are mistakes.

I would never worry about a digitally filled out and printed chronicle.

Awesome! Massive weight off my shoulders. I'll just turn the pdfs into forms and e-sign them, then. Thank you both very much =)
