"Given the difficulty of saying anything definite about the future, it
makes sense to look back at how past trade agreements have actually
worked out for those involved.

Is this a valid point? Look at this kid that turned into a real man.
If he now loses his job, can we say looking back it was because he was
once fat and played magic the gathering?

In general, yes. That's how historical analysis works. It's hard to run scientific experiments in macroeconomics due to a lack of a control universe, so you take the next best thing and you look at when things similar to the proposed idea have been tried and you see what their effects were.


GASP! I am shocked, SHOCKED! That a trade agreement benefited corporations instead of people.

Has someone told the government about this!?!?!?

Sadly yes. People were saying this would happen 20 years ago when NAFTA went into effect.

Yeah, I don't think anyone in the know was convinced NAFTA was good for anyone except for the money power elite.
