#1-40 Hall of Drunken Heroes Map Visualization Help

GM Discussion

I'm running Hall of Drunken Heroes using Roll20 later on this week.

However do I set up the 3-D encounter in the dream-realm. I totally understand the 100' radius sphere, and Dunnamast at the center with the demon 30' below him, but how do I map this, especially in 2-D?

What have people done, if they've done anything? It's tempting to do a kind of abstract, live play-by-post so that players don't have their mental image and the flat-map giving conflicting images.

Any and all help would be appreciated here.

Thanks.

EDIT: Also, the encounter states that PCs retain all materials when they enter the dream realm, so their weapons and potions are on their bodies. PCs function normally in the dream realm, but items are not actually used. I comprehend that, but are spells and other dailies treated the same way? If the cleric uses three channels and the barbarian uses 8 rounds of rage, are those consumed for the day, or are they treated as material consumables?

When I ran this, I didn't give the players a map at all, just gave them distances to the edges of the area and to their target. It was much easier to run the combat that way than start fiddling with three dimensions. In my experience, it isn't always necessary to draw out maps for a combat if there are no significant terrain features the players would need to account for.
