I will be running Voices in the Void in two weeks, and one of the players would like to play it with his witch (level 1). Now normally, I feel like the price of powers like slumber which are nice when they work is that sometimes the just don't work, but this is a high social character, whose backup utility is slumber hex, going into an adventure with basically *no* social (there is a strong chance the party will be level 1-2 so not even cerebral fungus.) And everything is immune to sleep.
I am not worried about him being a party anchor, we will almost certainly have 6 people playing, so a useless character or two is fine. (though if they get to the point of being just *over* the line into 3-4, that might be a bigger problem.)
I am worried that if he brings in the witch, it will just not be a fun game for him. I'm even more torn because his alt characters are a level 5 life oracle and a level 7 something or other (Barbarian? I honestly don't remember). Dropping either into a party of 1-2 characters and pushing them up into 3-4 seems like a recipe for either TPK or for every one else to feel like their characters are unnecessary.
Should I be discouraging him from playing the witch? Or should I just shrug and say "You know, it's a fun adventure, she may not get to do much, but we will have fun making it work."
(In which case, I will laugh my ass off if we get to the end boss, and he ends it in one round with a slumber hex.)

The only reason for the player not to play the mission is if they wanted to run it with a different character. <shrug> If you feel the need, I might tell him, "This one doesn't have a lot of social, you can bring her, but if you wanted to bring in a baby whatever to try them out, you might have more fun"....and let them choose.
