Using an ARCHER

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

If I do not have the ranged combat skill sub type (as HARSK does), can I use a default d4 and then play the archer to add another d4 to the combat check.

I realise the odds are low , its really the principle of using a Skill sub type the character does not possess.

Since "Ranged" is not one of the two default skills you can use for a combat check (those being "Melee" and "Strength") you have to first play a card/power that says something like, "For your combat check, roll your Ranged die...".

This applies to everyone, not just characters without the Ranged skill. Even Harsk can't use his Ranged skill for Combat checks unless he plays something that let's him do so (like Shortbow, Light Crossbow, etc).

Thus, you couldn't just roll an unskilled Ranged d4 for a combat check and then boost it with Archer. You'd have to first play something like Shortbow first, then play Archer.

Thanks
