As we left the party last session they had just finished off a group of skeletons and two blackened skeletons. Recovering from the battle the party took a few moments to gather themselves before they continued heading towards Artrosa and the Maiden entrance to the dungeon it contained. they could see the three imposing figures a mile or so away and began working their way towards it. As they initially approached the area surrounding the base of Artrosa most members of the party began to feel something in the shadows was there but none of them could quite put their finger on what exactly it was. Thorsen decided to turn into the form of a bird and flew around the area reporting back to the group that he hadn't seen anything in the immediate area but that on the top of the high mountain area there was a sinister looking tree in a grove with the recently dead body of a centaur laying in it.
The Party advanced towards the almost vertical cliff face and the out of nowhere Thorsen and Fafnir felt a jolt of electricity shoot through their bodies, but a quick glance around showed nothing to have attacked them, was it a trap of some kind or some invisible creature... Unable to see or sense anything the party were again and again shocked by their unseen foe. Shinigami started to think back to his dual heritage and remembered that in his past his people had been able to see invisible creatures so he concentrated and managed to firstly become invisible himself and then make it so he could see the creatures that were attacking his party. They were small glowing orbs with eyed skulls floating in the middle of them. From his hidden location he called out to the party and warned them where the creatures were. Using Glitterdust he outlined one of the creatures and then the other making this combat much easier as the Wisps appeared to die quite easily once you could see them to hit them.
This combat over Ignacio appeared having returned from escorting the young female centaur guide back to her camp, had he encountered the weird cauldron along the way and rolled the dice again we do not yet know. Once he reappeared the party filled him in on what had happened and they approached the sheer mountain face. Pulling out a wand they had obtained earlier Shinigami cast spider climb on the party and they were all able to climb the mountain face without any real problem. Once they appeared on the top of the mountain they were face to face with the wall of trees that made up the grove. Without much fear considering all they had encountered thus far the party ventured into the grove... The large tree that Thorsen had seen appeared to be a very stylised tree its truck and branches appearing to have taken on a very feminine type form, then it spoke... Talking Elks, Talking Wolves, why not talking trees to right? The feminine voice informed the party that she required some kind of sacrifice in order to let the party into the portal beyond and that she was a guardian of Baba Yaga, what is it with this witch queen and picking the most annoyingly stubborn guardians? After a bried conversation in which Shinigami pointed out that the party were themselves favored servants of Baba Yaga and had gained the mantle of the Black Rider they sensed that there was something the tree was hiding and pressed further. She addmited that there was in fact a second way to gain access to the portal and that was to answer a riddle that she had for them. The party agreed and she said, "Midnight, morning, bright sun. Spoke with thee but one, Accursed now you be. For he befell the wrath. Of two times seven. Oh tell me who is he...." The party went silent for the moment several thoughts being thrown around maybe it related to the current queen, then the mention of the current queen began Shinigami thinking, was this in some way to do with the Black Rider himself after all he had been slain and given them the mantle which could be considered to some degree a curse also hadnt he said that he had two brothers as other riders too which would also fit. Slightly unsure Shinigami told the party his idea and tried to wrack his brain to remember the riders name, then it came to him Illarion Matveius. Thugar was put forth as the person to speak for the party and said, "The Black Rider.." Which brought a shout of "Tell me his NAME!" from the tree woman. Shinigami repeated the name again and Thugar this time stated the name and the tree sighed and accepted that they had answered right. This brought relieved sighs from the party and joy when she said that they may take any of the items laying around her from the slain parties and previous sacrifices. Ignacio asked her around the centaur and was told that a lady never tells but the group became aware that this was probably from the other group of centaurs which meant they wouldnt be the only ones in Artrosa and the other group were willing to sacrifice one of their own to get in.
They rested up for a few hours and then approached the portal, Thorsen with a bout of bravery simply stepped in and vanished from sight, the rest of the party headed in also and found themselves in a tunnel with a set up spiral stairs which they slowly and carefully walked down after Fafnir made his mace glow with a eerie light to light the way in the almost pitch black place... The party were not as quiet as they could be and pretty soon they heard sounds coming from down the stairs as someone shouted something in giant followed by the noises of movement. The party gave up on stealth at this point and Ignacio and Thugar ran down the stairs to confront whatever it was. What they saw was a large two headed Ettin Witch yelling in giant to two frost giants, she turned to the two intruders and cast something in them that made them both fall asleep. Fafnir followed in and woke one of them up whilst Thorsen and Shinigami used fireballs to try and weaken the three creatures blocking their path. The female Ettin Witch tried and failed to put Shinigami to sleep as they party pushed forward the advantage when one of the giants fell. This battle would have been far more intense had the two spell casters not heavily used their fire spells aaswell as Fafnir healing everyone up and the two fighters Thugar and Ignacio managing to land some very heavy blows.
From here the party took a few minutes to collect themselves and then delved deeper into the tunnel system after investigating the room fully and paying close attention to the mosaics around the walls, Northern a young woman washing her hair, Eastern wall a young woman sitting staring at the moon and on the Western Wall the young lady pointing at a knot shaped symbol finally on the Southern wall the lady was picking some flowers.... Going further down the tunnel system the party came upon a rather strange room, it was one that was like a mini swamp area, this freaked out several party members as they backed away and decided to leave this room for a later time but instead continued down the tunnel way much to Shinigamis frustration.
Several more minutes later they came upon a doorway to their left but before they could react Thugar was struck by a blow from another unseen foe... Not more Wisps though this creature hit much harder and was much larger, it was in fact one of the Frost Giants that they party had encountered when controlling the hut. Maybe due to its size this creature although hitting hard was not as effective as expected and the party had not a great deal of trouble with it but more was to come, as they opened the door it was stood infront of they were face to face with several more winter giant type creatures....
That is where we leave the party for this session, what will happen next, will Thorsen be cursed again... Probably. Will they ever return to the swamp room and will they find the item they need to free the hut guardian from his slavery... Find out next time.

As we left the party last session they had just arrived in a room occupied by several of the strange other-world creatures that they had last seen attacking them in the centaur camp. the party remembering them were aware of several things about these creatures, during this encounter the creatures immunity to magic and similar attacks would make this fight drag out longer than would have been usual. The combat mainly involved Ignacio Fafnir and Thugar taking the physical attacks to the creatures, but it began with Shinigami attempting to assist the group using haste but a creature all in dark hooded robes appeared and appearing to counteract the spell with one of his own causing Shinigami all kinds of frustration this frustration would continue and heighten with every failed spell attempt. Added to that the effect of the magical tiredness caused by several magic heavy encounters since the parties last night's sleep. The journey to this point had been long and arduous thus far and was appearing only to get harder. Had it not been for the high damage output by the three more physical party member this battle could have gone far worse but as it turned out the two otherworldly creatures finally were slain and the party looked around the very dark room for the third creature, but it was nowhere to be see, Fafnir spoke up and informed the party that it had probably returned to its own realm as he figured that it was from the same place as the other creatures. Looking around the room the party find some strange markings on the wall and Shinigami and company investigate them recognising them and explaining their meaning... To the North of the room was a large table with a map on it and to the South a chest just sat. Thorsen wary after all of his incidents as of late checked the chest a little without approaching too close and had a bad feeling about it. Shinigami used his hand of the mage to try and open the chest and found that it was locked but Thugar in his typical style smashed away at the lock on the chest, finally breaking it, but even though Thorsen flinched nothing happened.... The party were beginning to wonder if it was just Thorsen being over cautious but just to be safe Shinigami opened the chest with mage hand and pulled out some of the items, then still nothing had happened Thorsen himself also began to wonder if it was just his nerves so he picked out several items to check them for any special properties as did Fafnir and Shinigami.
The group investigated the map on the table to taking it with them decided to head back up the corridor to the room where they had left earlier with the swampy feel to it. they arrived back at the area without incident and Shinigami remembering that he had a wand in his pack that the party had acquired earlier in their adventures used it to cast spider climb on the party, all except Thorsen who had turned into a bird and flown across and around the room, reporting back that the room looked empty. Not wishing to step in the green looking murky water the party began making their way across using the walls and ceiling in order to avoid the water. Thorsen sensed a creature somewhere in the shadows and the party soon herd a soft tinkling of music as a Satyr type creature appeared and floated into the centre of the room but not before suggesting that the party maybe take a dip in the water... Thorsen surprised the party by thinking that was a good idea as did Thugar and they both moved to get in the water and have a nice relaxing soak in it. Confused by this the rest of the group made their way over to the corridor on the other side of the room and safely there they convinced both Thorsen and Thugar to get out of the water and the combat phase of the encounter ensued, once more we come against a creature that doesn't appear to be easily effected by magical powers, plus Shinigami had used up most of his magic since entering the dungeon and as in serious need of a good night's rest. Just as the group managed to convince Thugar and Thorsen to get out of the water they were both attacked by a large swarm of leach like creatures that attached to them and appeared to siphon off some of their strength making them feel lethargic and listless, the creatures continued to attack them making them feel even more tired whilst this was going on Shinigami found the Satyr resisting most of his magical attacks... It wasn't until it approached and got within melee range that this encounter really got going, one again, Thugar, Fafnir and Ignacio all began dealing a healthy and steady stream of damage, even Shinigami throwing in the odd magical missile attack that struck its target. The group decided to deal with the swamps of leaches first and reasonably quickly put them away, but the Satyr gave them a little bit more of an issue but through the combined effort of the party it finally fell to them and the entire group were feeling both physically and mentally exhausted an decided that it would be a good idea to rest up for the night but they decided that rather than going back to where they had been they would press forward into the next room and rest up there.
They entered the next room, Thugar leading the way using his dark vision to spot the area, it appeared that this was some kind of sleeping area, three separate areas seemed to be cut off from each other by fabric partitions. Satisfied that the area was free of threats, Thugar returned to get Ignacio and as he was gone the group felt someone in the room with them and from nowhere a beautiful young human looking woman appeared. She introduced herself to the party as a prisoner in Artrosa then went on to tell them a story about how the current warden of the area Jadrenka was an evil cruel person and expressed her desire for the party to end her reign as the warden and then maybe the woman herself could take over and run things properly . Shinigami began to sense something was a little of with her story and detected some form of transmutation magic surrounding her, she was not everything that she appeared to be. Her story continued and she expressed her fear for the future of Artrosa under the supposed evil Jadrenka. This did not sit well with Shinigami but the rest of the party and especially Fafnir appeared to on the surface be OK with this so he kept his concerns to himself for the time being. That night the group rested up in the area, Fafnir was invited to spend the evening with the woman and accepted, remember what happens in Artrosa stays in Artrosa during the night watches Shinigami spoke to both Ignacio and Thugar and told them of what he had discovered about the young woman, whilst this was going on she was talking with and trying to seduce Fafnir but unsuccessfully.
The next morning is where we leave the party for this session, they have just left the woman and are delving deeper into Artrosa.

I have lost track of time since we first entered that forsaken portal that set us on our mission seeking the witch Baba Yaga. Time and space seem to shift exponentially the further we venture down the path we have chosen, leaving me increasingly disorientated. While today provided some answers to the purpose of the dungeon we have entered, it has also presented the group with further unsolved puzzles and increasingly odd encounters with its inhabitants.
The strange maiden, with whom I shared a bed, has informed the group that an evil warden guards over the inhabitants of the dungeon. The maiden feels that the destruction of this warden will release her from her prison. I do not fully trust this curious creature, but the information she has given us leads us to seek out this warden in search of the golden nugget she is said to possess.
The sorcerer Shinigami, seeking further understanding of the predicament in which the group finds itself, remained in the comfortable confines of the maiden to research further. Ignacio, Thorsen, Thugar, and I headed out in search of the imprisoner in order to obtain the key we would need to once again set the walking chicken hut in motion through space. We found this warden in an unsettlingly, out of place chamber not far from the maiden’s tents.
The chamber gave the impression of a meadow. The ground was laden with flowers, the ceiling a sky, and in the center stood a women attending her livestock, a rather large bull. We learned that this woman was in fact Jadrenka, and that she was the warden of this prison of Baba Yaga. She did not seem threatening and seemed genuinely willing to help us. She informed us that she held the golden nugget that we sought, but could not part with it so easily. In order to obtain the golden nugget, we would need to gain her trust by seeking out the other key, a dragon scale. With this declaration, Jadrenka disappeared taking the pleasant surroundings with her.
The bull remained, transformed into a creature of plated metal, and blew forth a haze of green mist that held me where I stood. Try as I might, I could not will my limbs to move. I could see Thorsen similarly frozen, and the two warriors battle the creature with all their might. I have never seen two matadors make such short work of a bull half this size and made of flesh, but Ignacio brought his mighty falcata down upon the creature’s neck slicing through metal as easily as butter, thus disposing of the creature. Dropping from the creature’s neck, a key hit the floor. Having obtained a key, we now needed to find a door to open.
The room to the south of the illusionary meadow presented a puzzle beyond my wit, but I will do my best to describe the room. A large pool of water, like those seen in great cities’ bathhouses, sat at the eastern wall of the room, at the southern end stood three pedestals surrounding the entrance to a door that was locked and magically protected, and a simple silver chalice lay in an alcove set in the western wall. Thugars understanding of the culture of the region helped us discern that the basins, which sat upon the pedestals, represented some kind of fertility ritual. We would need a source of light, a source of water and a source of nourishment to gain access to the room beyond the door, but we did not have the proper keys to open the enchanted door. Stopped by the door we continued to explore the dungeons other rooms.
The key we had obtained opened a door in the maiden’s room, and when we entered we were blinded by the light. Mama always told me not to look into the eye of the sun, but that’s where the fun is. Covering our eyes, our great fortitude allowed us to venture down the stairs that lead to a room that was too bright to see in. We perceived that nothing was present in the room, so we ready ourselves for a fight.
A young boy’s voice emanated from a hole in the ground that seemed to hold the sun itself. It is often said that the gruffest of dwarves houses a heart of gold, and upon hearing this boy cry for help, Thurgar reached into the hole and pulled forth a fear inspiring creature. The young boy was naked, surrounded by an aura of blue light, and had eyes without irises or pupils. The boy touched Thurgar, draining his very life-force. With no other option, we pulled our weapons and put forth to dispatch this creature. Materializing from the air little Light Pixies, having hid in the brightness of the room, attacked Thorsen, and a battle ensued. Thurgar managed to the boy. The rest of the party took to the pixies. I slayed one with Everbloom’s Rose and Ignacio swatted with other like a bothersome nat. The boy did not present such a small threat. Having paralyzed Thurgar and Ignacio with some kind of unnatural ability, Thorsen and I had little luck in dealing with the creature and having been released from its imprisonment the boy was perfectly happy to run away down a shifting hallway.
The room to the south held a gruesome sight, and we would have added to it if not for the boundaries of this prison’s cells. The room held large pillars of stone surrounding a large plant. The bodies of giants lay about the floor staining the stone a crimson red. As I inspected the odd plant a devilish looking creature burst forth and chaos ensued.
I cannot describe what I saw. I was instantly blinded and disoriented without my sight. I felt the heat of a great fire and heard the shuffling of metal and feet. Slashing at air and plant matter to no avail I warded myself against this evil and tried to steady myself. I found Thurgar, who seemed to be the only one to have retained his sight, fighting the creature with little success. One moment he stood before me, the next I tripped over what could have only been his dead body. Preying the Nethys, I channeled his divine energy and dragged the dwarf from the room as best I could.
It was a low moment for the group as we felt our way through the corridors, hoping the creature was held by similar bonds as the other prisoners. Dragging our downed comrade and ourselves to safety, we reconnected with Shinagami and through his help mended our wounds for the battle that we would be well prepared for the next time.

I've been meaning to write bits of my character thoughts in here. It won't be a full write up just bits of his mind as we go through hardhips.
From Thorsen's journal.
The last days have been hard. Ever since we came to this prison where that witch put people who offended her. Sometimes I feel we are just another set of prisoners in here. I feel weak and clumsy since the leaches. I miss the clear sky above my head and the prospect of a long walk.
...
I am lucky to have strong companions at my side, Like brothers to share in the joy of victories and protect me when we come close to defeat. Shinigami who always want to understand everything. Ignacio who wants to protect the innocent everywhere. Thugar the latest to have join in our foolish quest, but perhaps the bravest, always rushing to fell giants. Fafnir who is like my older brother always caring for the people that surrounds him before himself, he's the rock we are all holding on to save us when we fight, I hope they are okay in Karlsgard, I should have sent a warning to them when we were still in Whitethrone, it might not have been much but I'm afraid that queen Elvanna will want expansion once she has secured her domain. Now halfway across the world, in a land I've only seen on my master's maps it will be much harder to send word.
...
When I objected to killing Jadrenka without being prooked into it, that strange lady said that I had blood on my hands too. I wonder, hav I ever wielded my spear without provocation? Have I felled an innocent thinking I was justified? Have I casted a spell against someone that didn't try to kill me before? I have killed and I am not proud of it, but if we fail in our quest most of the Inner Sea will be dying under the freezing heel of Queen Elvanna and that I simply can't allow.

Fafnir is once again awoken by that reoccurring dream that still plagues him even after so much time has passed. His fingers linger over the wrinkled skin that scars the left side of his face. He can’t help but imagine it still burning hot with the flames of the f&&&ing witch that killed his young companions and left him near deaths door so many years ago. Taking a deep breath and offering a prayer to Nethys, Fafnir raises, hearing the group packing up camp to once again travel the labyrinth that is this dungeon.
The group moves around camp slowly, the aches and wounds of, now, well-traveled adventures showing their presence. It is time to decide the course of action the group should take in order to gain these artifacts they seek and escape this dungeon. Where death lurks in every shadow, an enemy known is one easy to find, especially when that enemy is held behind bars, but little does the group know that the fey witch that so wrecked the adventuring party on their last encounter would have even more tricks up her sleeves and this time one of Fafnir’s greatest fears, flesh rendering fire.
The sound of warriors metaled shells clinking against the stone floor echoes down the extensive hallway that leads to the abode of the demon fey. The warriors are better prepared this time. The sorcerer Shinigami speaks the arcane words of his trade, and Fafnir feels the deft movements of his limbs and the flow of the great magic coursing through his body, speeding his action. The outcast dwarf Thugar is touched by Thorsen, the friend of nature, and from the druids hand a dark bark slowly engulfs the dwarf’s skin, forming a second armor for the great warrior.
The party slowly passes that threshold that imprisons the prey. The stone pillars surrounding the large plant still towering overhead, the fey creature is meeting her fate with hubris edging on insanity. The sight of this creature’s naked body burns Fafnir’s eyes and he sees Ignacio close his own unable to bear the sight. Floating in the air at the center of her prison, the dark figure laughs and with a taught summons forth a great flame elemental, blazing like a giant bonfire, blocking the passage of the knight Ignacio.
Time slows as the oxygen is sucked from the air by the great beast, and the fey creature works to stifle the room even further calling pillars of fire to burst from the floor engulfing the party. Fafnir sees a great ball of fire slam into the fey and missiles of pure magic energy slice through her body. The chanting of the sorcerer’s spells is barely audible over the roaring fire that Thorsen, Ignacio and Thugar work to quell.
This time magic was brought to fight magic, and turning Fafnir witnesses Shinigami engulfed in the torrent of his power, robes and hair blowing backwards with what looks to be the force of hurricane winds. From his hands, jets of energy shoot forth in bursts of brilliant light shredding the dark-skinned body of the creature. As the magic pierces her, the smile fades from the beasts face in a sigh that looks like relief and she sinks to the ground, dispatched.
Sweat soaked and skin ablaze, Fafnir steadies his heart as he attends to the parties’ wounds. Calling forth the divine power of his god, life flows through the wounded, charred flesh is made smooth and whole again. He moves about the room to better inspect the creature’s sanctuary, no the creature’s prison. Shinigami informs the group that the room is used as some kind of divination device, but fears the use of such great power without the proper study. The room is outlined with the skulls of men - the creature’s victims?
Not wanting to linger in a room that has caused such great pain and is imbued with some mystical power, the group backtracks to unexplored areas. The dungeon is a maze of long shifting hallways that seem to lead to more stairs in undeterminable locations. Fafnir loses his since of location many times on the journey that leads the group to the great tomb that they would enter. It must be a tomb for some great person or persons as it holds many statues depicting maidens in various states a matriarchal reverence, a recurring motif of this dungeon that is itself in the bowls of great statues depicting a maiden, mother, and crone. Many doors lead to the final resting place of these inhabitants, but thinking it improper to disturb the dead, the party continues on in search of answers.
The tomb was a welcoming sight in comparison to the blasphemous chamber that the group would enter next, a huge room depicting mosaics of the demon god of hags. Recognizing the depictions of this evil demon and seeing a great furnace in the middle of the room surrounded by cauldrons of some boiling substance was enough to raise the hair on Fafnir’s neck. The team slowly worked its way past the many doors leading out of the room towards this fifteen by fifteen foot furnace.
The brave Ignacio takes the lead, as is his brazen style, and is the first to feel the wrath of the spectral women that flies forth from this great furnace. The undead is shrouded in an evil green aura and green balls of energy project from her essence surrounding many of those in the party. Fafnir feels his stomach turn as he is engulfed in this fiery green aura, and as the fire continues to burn around him, he feels as if his very essence is somehow fading into the ethereal plane that this ghost exists on. Life is sucked from Thugar has he is touched by the necromancy of the specter, he drops to the ground fading in and out of existence. Fafnir, risking his own body and soul to the undead, pulls forth the magical staff that is perhaps the only device capable of reaching the dwarf and restoring his substance, while Ignacio manages to dance with the ghost. Timing his strikes with the incorporeal beings fading the Taldorian manages to dispatch the ghost in a burst of energy, and the dwarf is saved by the staff of healing.
Sickened by the touch of the creature and warn from the constant fighting and endless travel, the group decides to rest down one defendable hallway in order to recover. Fafnir communes with his god seeking guidance in dealing with the threats of the undead and devils that are numerous throughout these hallways. After resting, the group continues down one of the side passages out of the evil hag coven and finds a petrified forest inside an unworked tunnel.
Fearing further ambush, the group sends the dwarf, whose dark sight allows him to move stealthily among these long dead trees, to scout ahead. It is not until he reappears near the middle of the room that the lessor demon appears. She is a humanoid beast of three heads and six arms, each arm holding a weapon that gleams in the light cast by Fafnir’s magic. Fafnir knows that this creature is of the hells and pulls forth his great sword to help the dwarf in dispatching the creature that he has discovered, but the proud dwarf holds up his hand, halting his advance.
Thugar explains, “I have challenged this creature in single combat in order to gain passage to the room she protects.”
“A fool’s errand,” thinks Fafnir, but the rest of the group seems enamored with this great display of bravery and a one-on-one battle between the dwarf and the devil ensues. It is easy to see that Thugar is a master of battle tactics as he moves in and out of combat with the ambidextrous creature. The beast is not fazed by this, however, as it easily parries and strikes at the same time using its many arms. The dwarf is quickly bested, but the devil seems somewhat lawful explaining that the dwarf should live to return another day when he is better prepared to seek the treasure that lies in the room ahead. Stopped, the group is forced to return to the evil alter of the hags.
Upon entering the shrine of the hags, Thorsen’s great perception detects a crying sound, as if a small child is calling for help. Hearing nothing, the group follows the druid through a door and down a hallway in search of this victim. The way is blocked by a cave-in and the group is forced to spend an hour clearing the way in order to squeeze by.
As soon as the debris is cleared, Fafnir feels an intense heat emanating from the room ahead. The hallway exits into a huge chamber, glowing brightly due to the presence of a river of lava flowing across the center of the room. A bridge expands across the river leading to a great throne surrounded by a treasure of coins. Fafnir sees the dwarfs eyes light up and a smile light his face. Thorsen being more concerned for troubled children crosses with the dwarf to further inspect the chamber.
Thorsen finds his children in the form of small, childlike, rock creatures materializing out of the stone floor. Ignacio and Thugar immediately draw their weapons, planning to make short work of these creatures. As they bash against the rock with steel, it is the steel that chips and the weapons seem to have no effect on the rocks veined with magma. They take to bashing the creatures with wooden and leather shields having no other way to hold the little beasts off. Surrounding the party, the creatures offer a quandary, in their defense, that Fafnir cannot see how to overcome. It is now that Thorsen’s knowledge of natural things shines, the artic druid, drawing on the power of his wintery homeland calls forth great snowballs that hardens and breaks the creatures. Crumbling the rock children, the group takes in the sight of the treasure room they have entered, and a certain curious dwarf makes his way to sit on the large copper throne that rests in alcove at the head of the room.

When we first meet up with our heroes they are stood in the same room that we left them in after having just defeated the strange children and rock and fire in the lava throne room. Thugar was sat on the throne and the party had just finished gathering the monies lying around on the floor.. Slightly lost for direction the party headed around the area finally comming upon a box sat in the middle of the hallway by the stairs.Opening the box the party find a small key shaped in the form of a ear of corn. Ignacio thinking quickly points out that it may be the key for the door they had previously been unable to go through in the puzzle room so the party head off for it and after arranging the room in the same way that they had before the party try the key in the door, there is a click as the key works in the lock and the door swings open.
Walking along the corridor Shinigami once again feels the same sensation as when the group were previously transported to another part of the dungeon this time the feeling is that they are in the Mother portion of the dungeon. Walking to the end of the corridor they arrive at a door and the party use the chime of opening to make the door open and walk in. Thugar is the first to enter the room and is immediately set upon by a young looking female half elf who accuses him of being the Warden in illusion form. She yells this in a language noone can understand and it isnt until Ignacio and then Shinigami speak in Elven that they party are able to try to have a conversation with her. Thugar leaves the room as he appears to make her uneasy as Shinigami attempts to speak to her and being as diplomatic as possible to try and set her mind at ease. This finally appears to work and Thugar returns to the room. The blonde half elf barely speaks to the party and acts quite rude towards Shinigami ignoring alot of what he says before leaving the room saying she is going to look for someone to help clear up some misunderstanding between herself and the Warden.
The room although an illusion appears to be well furnished and contains two doors within it. The party used the Chime on the Northern door and entered heading up into the large cavernous area, Thugar entering and exploring first he comes upon a heavily pregnant looking woman who it turns out is the Warden in another form, they have a slight argument and then the Warden vanishes and the party are attacked by a group of Korred, the first has its frustrations but Shinigami once removing the effects of the Korred drops a fireball which turns the tide of battle killing two of the Korred.
The other four are quickly dealt with and most of the party head up towards the staircase that heads upwards whilst Ignacio and Shinigami wait downstairs, the majority of the party come upon another area similar to the area that they came into the Maiden portal in but quickly head back to the rest of the party. During their absence a second box with a key in it had appeared and was in the possession of Ignacio, this was mentioned to the party and the group return to the bedroom before checking out the door to the East, the key they got from the bo appeared to work in it and the door opens.
In the room they come upon is a surprise, two of the daemon creatures they have now encountered a few times as well as a Frost Giant, the first of the daemons is easily dispatched by Ignacio, whilst the remainder of the party fight the remaining two. When the fight is nearing its final phase Thorsen steps forward to enter the fight but out of nowhere he is hit and falls under the blow, this rallies the party and they quickly dispatch the final creatures. Thorsen is laying still and the party initially believe that he is passed on and the conversation takes on a somber note, they go as far as arranging a funeral pyre for him but just as they are about to set it alight they hear a loud snoring sound coming from Thorsen, what he was simply sleeping but he had been dead he group where sure of it and then they see the pendant around his neck and it all becomes clear. "I`ll sleep when I m dead." Was almost very pertinent.
Collecting themselves the party headed to the ladder and found themselves looking from one of the mothers hands, it was then that a strange flying creature appeared and we leave our heroes for the time being.

Cookbook of Arcane Augmentation
Aura strong (no school); CL 17th
Slot none; Price 21,500 gp; Weight 5 lbs.
Description
This book is bound in dyed goatskin, and its coarse, thick pages are stained in a variety of colors and covered in wavering script; rough sketches; and diagrams of various plants, mystic symbols, and animal parts. A crude wooden spoon serves a bookmark. A cookbook of arcane augmentation contains recipes that allow an arcane spellcaster who prepares spells to augment her spells with specific metamagic effects through ritual preparation. A cookbook of arcane augmentation contains recipes for Ectoplasmic SpellAPG, Persistent SpellAPG, Rime SpellUM, and Sickening SpellAPG, and can be used to augment spells of 6th level or lower.
Once per day, the spellcaster can augment a spell by following a recipe as part of her normal spell preparation. To prepare an augmented spell, the spellcaster must succeed at a Craft (alchemy) check (DC 15 + spell level) while mixing the recipe’s ingredients in a cauldron. (The cost of these ingredients is negligible, and they are assumed to be readily available in a spell component pouch.) If the check succeeds, the spell is augmented with the recipe’s metamagic feat. This doesn’t change the spell slot of the augmented spell. On a failed check, that spell can’t be augmented that day, but the caster can attempt to augment another spell.
A spellcaster can prepare only a single augmented spell each time she prepares spells, and apply only one augmentation from the cookbook to any given spell, but can combine an augmentation with metamagic feats she possesses. In this case, only the feats possessed by the caster adjust the spell slot of the spell being cast. The book doesn’t confer the associated metamagic feat on the owner, only the ability to use the given feat when spells are prepared.
Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, Ectoplasmic SpellAPG, Persistent SpellAPG, Rime SpellUM, Sickening SpellAPG; Cost 10,750 gp

The giants fell to the onslaught of the group, and the magical necklace that hung around the neck of Thorsen saved his life. Shattering when the frost giant’s axe mortally wounded him, the amulet was the only thing that held his mangled corpse together and allowed for the divine powers of the god Nethys to revive him.
Having slain the giants we continued up the rope ladder to the north of the corpses, and found ourselves standing on a great precipice looking over the valley that led to the statues in which we now reside. I marveled at the outreached hand on which we stood, the hand of the mother stretching out over the side of her belly. An ambush was waiting for us.
A demonic creature, the color of long frozen ice, flew in amongst us and started speaking in some infernal tongue. It was obvious the creature had ill intent in mind from the waving of its cat-of-nine-tails type tail and its vicious claws. Its winds beating, keeping it unnaturally aloft, the creature called forth some minions, two chimeras, who surrounded the group as their master withdrew to watch from afar.
The multi-headed creatures stuck out, the dragon heads blowing cones of cold frost while the rest of the heads and claws all attack at Ignacio and Thugar. Shinigami and Thorsen attempt to stay in the hall leading palm and cast spells at the creatures as they circle around the two warriors and myself. Ignacio in his normal bravado slashed through the neck of all three heads of one of the beasts, sending the beast’s body spinning down to the valley floor. The other is brought down shortly and the chimeras master reenters the combat seeing that we are not such easy prey.
The demon shoots a ray of frost from his fingertip and manages to injure the dwarf fiercely. It then manages to skirt around the battle field with great ease. The creature affinity to cold allows it to cast walls of ice between us and the casters. Every time we manage to break through one solid wall of ice another seems to rise up. When Thugar, Ignacio and I finally manage to break through the last wall we are greeted by a cloud of fog and the sound of the spell casters moving about somewhere in the room that held the giants corpses. The beating of wings can be heard, but I can’t manage to see more than five feet in front of my face. I find my by hearing the sounds of battle and manage to heal the wounds of my fellow party members. When the mists disappear the creature can be seen chanting and then in a flash it disappears, escaping our wrath.
As we continue to search the dungeon, we come across a room filled with spider webs and find the corpses of more frost giants cocooned by what must have been some kind of giant arachnid. As I search the room a demonic looking spider, the size of an elephant, bursts forth from the web and attacks. The creature reaches out and slings Ignacio around like a sling doll. The armor is ripped from his body and torn into pieces by this creature. The knight is bit and his flesh starts to melt on his body, turning a sickly color, as if rotting at incredible speed. The dwarf is likely affected before we are able to take the giant spider down and see to their healing to stop the advanced withering of their bodies.
It is down a further stair that we find our last encounter of the day, when we run across a mighty looking frost giant in some kind of alchemical lab. While fighting this creature, his ally bursts forth from her invisibility and helps to disable us. She is a hag of unbelievable homeliness. I take a large hit from the giant as we try and fight the giants by the entrance, and we are able to defeat the pair in short order, with little problem.

[The journal is written in a forceful hand, scribing runes with agility but likely little practice.]
It's hard to tell how long the days are in these catacombs. Strange, to think that for the length and width of recorded history, my kin has lived like this - in tunnels, mansions of underground stone and living rock. Still, our penance is coming to an end, and we will raise a next generation in the domains of our forefathers. Sevenfold.
Anyway, the fight in the laboratory with the hag and giant didn't keep us for long and we backtracked, looking for other ways into the abode of the "crone" keeper. We figured that the hallways with the flower-decked table was worth a try, and it proved so. Thankfully, we recalled the murals at the entrance to this whole complex, and the figurines were quickly organised accordingly.
We found an inscription reading "Let my light guide the way", too. Although a nice enough sentiment, I don't think we saw much of a light of any kind, so chalk that one up for "mysterious hag waffle".
After the table, we continued our progress down a long staircase that landed us in time in front of a double door. The magical chime did it's job once more and we stepped into a room that was another one of those landscape illusions. Nice, starry night, a field outdoors of some kind.
Actually, skip that "nice". The field had rotten away, with the stalks all withered and a whole flock of dead ravens spread around. Had it been crows I'd call it murder.
Predictably, the warden made another appearance with some apocalyptic sermon about the "cancer in the womb of the crone". I guess you get a bit loopy if your job is being a prison warden for all of eternity.
Good thing that Shinigami was paying attention, though, as he found half of an hourglass. He mumbled something about "curse of the aeons", but he's our magic dude so there you go.
Of the three doors leading out of the place, one was bright and golden and marked with an hourglass. Subtle it ain't, but that's probably where we'll be heading in time.
Of course, by that time the field and all disappears and we get to deal with more hands-on work. No complaints from me. Kind of an animated fog with a thirst for life, plus all those ravens that came back to haunt us. Well, tried to. Ignacio and myself had that fog well covered and Shinigami torched the place and the ravens in the process. Nice little tussle, proper dwarf work even if there were no giants this time.
One of the regular doors out of that "dead field" room lead us into a fairly large torture chamber of sorts. Some annoying dudes were walking on the ceiling and that was a royal pain in the tuckus. I may need to find some better way to deal with that, since tossing spare axes at them wasn't very effective. Glad we have a solid complement of juju along in cases like that.
Oh, and the other door that wasn't golden was a good one again: evil wizard dude with some kind of malformed cats at his beck and call. Figure him for some kind of alchemist or necromancer or such. The critters weren't worth more than a swing of the ball and chain, but they kept us occupied long enough for the big guy to actually lay down some hurt. Never felt quite that much of a pansy before. I think that, had I been some kind of human or such, I'd been nigh unable to move. Thankfully, our strength returned once we smacked him down to size.
All in all, a solid day's work by my counting. Next up, getting that hourglass fixed. The warden may be a huge bother, but it's probably as close to an ally as we'll find in this place.

As we left our adventurers they were face on with a set of locked doors and half of a hourglass that they were told was the key to that door. Heading off the party went to explore the areas that they hadn't yet seen. After walking up a long corridor the party enter a room with a large steaming cauldron in the center of the room and a set of shelves on one wall containing jars with various spices on it. As the party enter the room and venture towards the cauldron the steam suddenly began to form and then several tentacles shot out from it grabbing onto Thorsen and Thugar as it revealed itself to be a Mihstu and began attacking the party. Having grappled and attacked several of the party an already weak feeling Shinigami attacked with his magics and Ignacio swinging with his weapons. Then the rest of the party manage to free themselves beaten and bloodied they all attacked the Mihstu and after a long arduous encounter the Mihstu is slain and the party pause or a moment to catch their breath. Shinigami goes over to examine the cauldron and sees runes that state "Spice is the variety of life" and experimenting the party use the spices on the shelves and make several potions.
One of the lotions on the shelves appears to be a little different to the rest and when Thorsen places it in the cauldron a mist appears from it and puts everyone but Fafnir in a deep trance. Each of them having different visions. Ignacio sees a pit deep and dark with an item at the very bottom of it, the item is the scale of a large dragon, one of the items that they are searching to use as a key for the hut. Thugars vision is slightly different and he sees a large centaur whom is sacrificing several large frost giants to the pit, Thugar is having conflicting emotions at this, the deaths of Giants cheering him up but the pit worrying him. Almost as a run on from this Thorsen sees these sacrificial Giants falling into the pit and at the bottom a large portal opening and a huge centaur like creature with eight legs appearing out of it an evil smile on its face. In complete contrast to the others Shinigamis vision is not of the pit but of a pool of water surrounded by stones, a small child walks out of the pool and simply vanishes, moving into the pool Shinigami envisions the second half of the hour glass laying in the bottom of it.
The party are awakened by Fafnir who is looking very confused as are the ones with the visions. Each recounts the tale of what they saw in their dream state, Shingami putting the pieces together waits quietly to see if the rest come to the same conclusion and when it appears that they haven't he speaks up and points out that they have heard of some birthing stones which may be the location of the hour glass. The party agree but before they head off on that direction they continue along the corridor and come to a large circular room with a huge rock in the middle of it. Shingami feeling unsure doesn't immediately enter this room but when the others seem to be unharmed decides to follow them.
This turns out to be a mistake as the second the party are all together several creatures, Shadows appear and begin attacking the party, these particularly nasty creatures very nearly take out the entire party but a combination of Fafnir channeling energies and Thorsen using spells take out the minor Shadows and then the Greater Shadow. The party physically exhausted are forced to rest up and Fafnir and Thorsen heavily use restoration spells to recover the parties lost physical attributes. Having just gone through this encounter the group head to the East and find another portal exit but this one is locked off even though it should be open and there is a strange K shape appearing across it. With that exit blocked off the party head back to where they came across the rune that ages Thugar, Thorsen decided against all advice to walk along the corridor, the party do not see exactly what happens but Thorsen reappears some time later looking worse for wear, did the curse magnet pick up another curse?
Shinigami suggests that the party head back into the Mother and from there down to the area where Thugar went one on one with the multi armed demon woman and then on to the birthing stones. The party agree and when the arrive in the area that the multi armed woman and Thugar fought they come upon the defeated woman with several of her arms severed and lying on the ground, Jadrenka is there and informs the group that she has acted on their behalf and they are to move on to the birthing stones and then do everything they can to save Artrosa. Heading into the room where the birthing stones are the party notice a large pool of water, a huge octopus like aquatic creature appears from inside the pool and attacks the group, they fight valiantly and about half way through the encounter the creature focuses on Fafnir and its tentacles wrap around his body and with a sickening sound of a thousand cracks he falls to the floor dead. The party do not have time to mourn just yet as a creature appears from the mouth of the aquatic entity and a furious party throw everything at them both finally coming out victorious but with a slain fallen companion.
Beginning to mourn their fallen companion, they use the Robe of Useful items and place a small rowing boat on the pool of water after investigating it and finding the missing half of the hour glass. Shinigami using the final fireball at his disposal drops it on the rowing boat containing the body of Fafnir and it burns up in a very ceremonial sending off. The party rest up all with thoughts of Fafnir on their mind and that evening they reminisce about their adventures with him.
What will the morrow bring, will they free Artrosa, will the spirit of Fafnir imbue Thorsen with the ability to fight off curses more effectively? Find out next time.

This is the party loot only if anyone has a personal item that they would like to sell please add it to this list, but everyone thus far has approximately 10 K available to spend. Plus if anyone definitely wants to keep any of these items please say so.

Makarion |

I would like the +2 dwarven waraxe that's in the shop, but I'm not convinced it's worth it over using the +2 warhammer we already have. Using that will suit Thugar just fine.
I do have an interest in the +2 Constitution belt we found, but I assume several of us do, so that may be a case of drawing straws. Again, no problems with whatever outcome we arrive at.
Do you guys feel we should buy the adamantine battleaxe, just to combat various DR? I believe it's the equivalent of a +3 enchantment for purposes of piercing damage resistance, which is still a ways off if we would othewise count on Greater Magic Weapon.
Thugar would like to upgrade his +1 spiked shield to a +1 bashing spiked shield. The increase is the equivalent of 3,000 gold exactly, but I'm not sure how Steven wants to handle "upgrade" enchantments versus the availability in town. The prerequisites are well within the limits of the town (craft magic arms and armour, CL 6, bull's strength).
Items of interest as well:
* Dusty Rose cracked prism ioun stone (500 gp, +1 initiative)
* A few vials of Silversheen
* a few scrolls of Bless Weapon, if anyone can cast the spell
* Holy Water
* A wand or three of CLW.
It's worth considering buying a lesser metamagic rod for our illustrious pair of spellcasters. They are generally 3,000 each and can really make a difference. It's dubious whether we will have a chance later in the AP.
Note, that a conservative estimate of the situation leads me to believe that Thugar will be suffering from Insanity for 3 weeks or more. As a result, I think I will pick up a level in a very different class, to indicate his suddenly changed perspective. Current frontrunner is Inquisitor, possibly of Pharasma (which seems thematic, given the story we have participated in so far). I cannot say whether this will influence purchases yet. [I'll probably have an interest in one or two pearls of power I, should it come to pass.]

Makarion |

How do you guys want to handle the items we found? There's two fairly expensive items Thugar can use, and I am perfectly willing to give up much of my gold allowance for them, if that works with you. Just let me know what you feel is fair if I end up using the warhammer and the belt.
Anyway, assuming that I have 3k available, here is my roll for the availability of the shield upgrade: Availability: 1d4 ⇒ 2

BaronBytes |

Usually we pick what we find useful and roll when more than one person needs it. I could use the belt but it would be better if you have it, also you have a right to your share of the loot. So spend away.
So far I've spent 7760 gp adding the rod, I'll look for scrolls, wands and potions to round up what I have, the rest will go to the party fund.

Makarion |

I think I'll go ahead with the Inquisitor level (of Pharasma) by the way. Thugar isn't too amused that a cult of witches feels free to meddle with the fates and lifespans of people around - especially not when it messes with his friends! He's pretty sure that Pharasma will understand it if he uses a warhammer instead of that dainty dagger the human followers seem to prefer. Got to drive the point home, after all. Can't beat "hammertime" for making sure folks get the message!
So, here are my purchases:
* As mentioned, the shield upgrade - 3,000 gp (already rolled)
* Pearl of Power I - 1,000 gp Availability: 1d4 ⇒ 4
* Pendant of the Blood Scarab - 1,000 gp Availability: 1d4 ⇒ 4
* As mentioned, Dusty Rose cracked prism ioun stone (500 gp) Availability: 1d4 ⇒ 1
* Upgrade to Cloak of Resistance from +1 to +2 (3,000 gp) Availability: 1d4 ⇒ 4
* Quickrunner Shirt - 1,000 gp Availability: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Note: if all the prior items are available, I'll skip the Quickrunner Shirt.
* Scroll of Remove Fear (*2) - 50 gp Availability: 1d4 ⇒ 4
* Scroll of Linebreaker (*2) - 50 gp Availability: 1d4 ⇒ 4
* Wand of Cure Light Wounds - 750 gp Availability: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Decrypting |
As we left our adventurers they were just done with seeing off Fafnir and the flames where still a glowing ember on the surface of the small pool of water, the party look to the hour-glass and decide to head towards the door with the same symbol on it, determined to not let Fafnir passing go in vain they head to the doorway and after an uneventful journey Shinigami hands the two halves of the hour-glass to Thorsen who stands in-front of the doorway and places the two halves together... They glow momentarily and lock in place making a singular hour-glass, looking to the door the party see a indent approximately the same size as the hour-glass and Thorsen approaches and places it in the indent... The door glowing brightly for a moment and then slowly begins opening revealing a passage way with several steps downwards which the party slowly descend down. As they approach the bottom of the steps they spot a large Frost Giant wandering around with his back to a large door. Upon spotting the Giant Thugar and Ignacio immediately run in and engage in combat whilst Shinigami and Thorsen hold back for the moment with Shinigami firing Scorching Rays at the Giant hurting it deeply.
Shinigami and Thorsen both at the same moment feel a second presence and Shinigami is attacked by the woman they first encountered whose name they found to be Caigreal, the shouts something at the party and the party also spot the small blonde haired woman that they found in one of the cells. Thorsen leaves Shinigami to handle Caigreal as he runs to the blonde haired elves assistance, casting a heal on her seems to have the opposite effect as she screams out in pain and falls to the floor apparently dead. Meanwhile Ignacio and Thugar managed to take out the Frost Giant and Shinigami was engaged with combat with Caigreal who suddenly switched forms to that of a large monstrous looking female creature. The party all engaged her now and Shinigami kept her distracted whilst the party all swarmed her. Several minutes later she falls to their overwhelming numbers and the party collect themselves and search the bodies finding several interesting items. Thorsen moves tot he door and attempted to open it but it appears to be held in place firmly yet not locked or held by magic....
Thorsen shifts into elemental form and slips through the wall at the side of the door, loud cries of pain and crashes are heard by the party and a slightly worse for wear Thorsen reappears telling them a little of what is beyond the door. Hearing of the several large creatures in there Thugar appears to brighten up a little and begin smashing at the sturdy looking door with his axes again and again then again... Finally the door crashes open and the party come upon a huge Svathurim and Vsevolod himself... Vsevolod casts a spell and Shinigami suddenly goes blind and is concerned for a moment until Thorsen sees the problem and cures him of the blindness. Shinigami immediately readies his magics and Ignacio runs into the room, whilst Thugar follows him and Thorsen begins summoning a large arctic looking rhinoceros, Ignacio and Thugar both attack separate creatures and Thorsen sends his summon after the Svathurim doing a decent amount of damage. Shinigami sends several scorching rays towards the Svathurim also really hurting it badly. The Svathurim is taken down by a combined effort mainly from Shinigami and Thorsen and as it collapses Vsevolod shouts out in anger and casts spells making Thugar and Ignacio start screaming and running away from him. Thorsen runs in to meet Vsevolod head on and Shinigami backs up slightly bringing down Vsevolod after several minutes of back and forth and several fireballs.
Ignacio and Thugar both return and the party venture further into the room coming upon a deep pit with a circle of stairs heading down it... Before Shinigami can say anything Thorsen and Thugar both start heading down into the darkness... Shinigami and Ignacio looking around the area until the other two come back with the Dragon Scale they are after. As soon as they appear an old version of Jadrenka appears and after handing over the gold ingot she simply vanishes into nothingness....
Heaving the dungeon with the two keys that they came for the party return back to the Dancing Hut and release the guardian from his servitude and then head back to the Centaur encampment to replenish their supplies and make any purchases before seeing where the hut will take them next in their search for Baba Yaga.
Where will the hut take them next, will the newly insane Thugar act any different than normal, will the party even notice... Find out in the next session....
