How Spell Hex works, anyway?

Hi. A rules question: Spell Hex says:

Quote:
Select one 1st-level spell in the class that grants you the major hex class feature. You can learn that spell as a hex, and can use that hex three times per day.[omissis]

Now, the bold part: as written, it seems that I select a spell, and then I can learn when I gain the hex class feature. In other words, when I take this feat, do I automaically learn the spell as Hex or mus I wait until I reach a level where I learn a hex?

It seems from the wording that in order to gain the hex, you need to use one of your "hex slots" (hex gained at specific level of witch) or use the Extra Hex feat. Which IMO makes the Spell Hex feat an even poorer choice since the hex can only be used 3 times a day.

Do you know if there's any faq?

There doesn't appear to be. Out of curiosity, which spell are you trying to use with it?

I still don't ha have the level to take the feat. I'm an hexcrafter magus, and I was checking some feat. I'm thinking about this to take something like shield or some other buff. Shield is the most tempting.

It seems to me you really shouldn't do that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the point of spell hex that you get to use the save DC for your hexes with that spell?
Take the nastiest 1st level spell with a saving throw you can find, and use that one.

You could just spend 750 gold and get a wand of Shield with 50 charges. Spell Hex does seem like it could have some potential, but I think it's kinda wasted on a buff because you get the scaling Hex DC... Ray of Enfeeblement looked like could be interesting.

I'm pretty sure the feat means you learn that spell hex right away. It makes no sense to create a feat that does nothing unless you spend another feat.

I went ahead and FAQ'd it anyway. I really wish they were more careful about their word choices.

Hmmm. Good point. I'll check. Ray of Enfeeblement seems the only valuable 1st level suck or suck spell.

I'm not aware of an FAQ. However, considering how valuable feats are it seems like it would be an incredibly weak feat if it required you to be able to choose the spell but then spend another feat or class feature slot to even make use of it.

Another question about spell hex:

Quote:
If the spell is a touch spell and you miss the creature, you cannot target the creature with that spell hex again for 24 hours. If the spell allows a saving throw to negate or take a partial effect from the spell, and the target succeeds at that saving throw, it cannot be affected by the spell hex for 24 hours, even if it is in the area of the spell hex.

Does accursed hex works anyway with that? I think yes, but I'd like some confirm.

Looks like it would.
