Hi all!

Just saw the bi-weekly article pop on Massively called "Some Assembly Required" covering sandbox MMOs. This time they discuss games where crafting is a critical element of the gameplay, versus just a dull mechanic.

Check it out here...

(Can't get the hyperlink to work....but check it out...nice to see. The article mostly covers the upcoming "The Repopulation" but also links to Pathfinder Online.)

The one thing the article fails to mention or at least it did not focus on was the need for a crafting system to have critical outcomes and even unique results.

Here is where PFO should take a page from Star Wars Galaxies. In SWG, a crafter could become skilled enough to consistently produce items with a variety of unique attributes.

I'm hoping that crafting in PFO will allow master crafters to discover or even develop unique combinations of item + attribute + appearance. GW could even limit the recipes to a certain number for the server.

Massively has some sort of script running that Norton doesn't like. Likely one of the ads.

Yes, it does have a script running often. My Norton popped up repeatedly and made the site unusable, so I disable Norton for now.

Hm. Opposite of my thinking.
