2.) Being better than Battleship is the expected norm, not an accomplishment.
Typically, Asylum mockbuster films are worse the hollywood version. American Warships actually had a better story line. Sure the effects were worse, but it was a more interesting story. Money only gets you so far.

To the OP - I have been tempted by many of these 'mockbuster' (is that what they're called? Brilliant!) on Netflix lately but just haven't had the courage to try one out. Will my eyes bleed? Will young children no longer want to be in the same room as me?
