ConQuest Sacramento
April 5-7, 2013
The NEW Red Lion Woodlake Conference Center
500 Leisure Lane, Sacramento
As the Venture-Captain for Sacramento, I'm excited to announce the California Central Valley's marquee convention: ConQuest Sacramento!
There are several exciting new changes to ConQuest SAC this year including a new venue, and convention dates that aren't bunched up so closely to other springtime conventions. We are planning on having a MUCH larger turnout then previous years due to these changes, as well as the expanding PFS community here in Sacramento.
Registration and hotel information can be found at:
http://www.conquestsac.com/
Warhorn signups can be found at:
http://warhorn.net/conquestsac-2013-pfs/
Please follow the directions given there for registration.
If you plan on taking advantage of free registration for GMing 3 or more slots, and it is before the cutoff date, DO NOT REGISTER FOR THE CONVENTION. Follow the directions given on the front page. To be clear, there will be a cutoff date for free GM registration, see the warhorn site for details.
Our PFS leadership team, The ConQuest Chroniclers have several special things planned for PFS for this event. We plan on having signups available by the end of this week.
This will be a convention to remember. :-) Don't miss out!

On a side note, the convention owner (Gabriel Vega) has a long-time cat companion (Zorak) that is going through medical difficulties. If you are planning on going to the convention (and not planning on GMing to get in for free), please consider signing up soon so that Gabriel can get some much-needed help with his ailing friend.
Thank you for your consideration,
Brent Holtsberry, Venture-Captain Sacramento

Hi all!
Your ConQuest GM Liason here, Letting you know that the final deadline for judges to clear for a FREE GM Badge is coming up mighty quick! The deadline is THIS THURSDAY-2/28/13!!! If you have been thinking about being a GM for the convention, you may want to jump in the pool now while the pickings are still hot!
We have some fun things going on this year at the convention, and I hope everyone can sign up and participate. Along with the new venue, we are excited to be running the GenCon Special – Race of the Runecarved Key, Saturday night! This event can only be run at conventions, and hasn't been run at a Northern California convention since Pacificon last September. If you haven't played (or run) it yet, it's going to be a blast.
To see what games are available, you can find the ConQuest SAC warhorn site at:
http://warhorn.net/conquestsac-2013-pfs/
Instructions for signing up to play are on the Event Overview page.
If you want to get in to the convention for free, I highly encourage that you take a moment this week, and sign up to judge. If you run three games, you get in for free. We are only going to be able to give free badges to GMs who sign up before the deadline, so please contact us as soon as possible. Instructions for signing up to GM are posted on the front page of the ConQuest SAC warhorn site. If you wish to GM for a weekend pass – Do Not Buy a Badge. Follow the instructions on the front page.
Although we have many of the games covered by GMs already, we still have about 70 tables that need GMs. If you're considering running, I and the community would appreciate you doing so.
The main ConQuest Convention website can be found at:
http://conquestsac.com/blog/
If you've signed up to play or run already, Thank You! If you haven't had a chance yet, please take a moment this week and sign up if you can. :-)
Any questions about joining the GM pool can either be sent to Brent Holtsberry our Venture Captain at brenthberry@yahoo.com or to me directly at solanoyolopfs@yahoo.com
It's going to be LOADS of Fun! Don't miss it!

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that we are going to have an AMAZING convention at ConQuest Sacramento and tonight is the deadline for free GM passes!
There is still a chance to get a free 3-day pass for the convention by signing up to run 3 games for PFS. We still have almost 40 tables that need GMs and we'd love to give out free passes to get those tables filled up.
If you wish to GM for a weekend pass-DO NOT BUY A BADGE! Please create an account on the warhorn site using your legal name and an email address that can be verified, and email Venus at solanoyolopfs@yahoo.com with your login name for this site, your real name and email address, and we will get you cleared to sign up warhorn as well as make sure you are on the GM list for badges. Your badge will be available for pickup at the convention. Signups for free badges ends tonight!
http://warhorn.net/conquestsac-2013-pfs/
And for those of you who want to come out and play, we have an awesome schedule planned including all of the available Season 4 scenarios (including the new special that can only be run by 4-star GMs and Venture Officers) as well as another run of Race for the Runecarved Key, the special event from Gencon last August. We're still 5 weeks out and we already have over 80 tables that have judges signed up to run! The price for a 3-day pass is only $45 if you get it before March 4th.
For those of you in the bay area, this is a great opportunity to meet and play with new people. The Sacramento PFS community is going to be out in full force, and there are a lot of fun people who are still fresh to the PFS scene to make new friends with. :-)
In case you can't tell, the leadership crew for ConQuest Sacramento is excited to be putting on a great event, and look forward to seeing everyone there!
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me so we can help out.
Brent Holtsberry,
Pathfinder Society Venture Captain, Sacramento

Hey Everyone,
It is time for us to start cleaning up the warhorn site for ConQuest Sacramento in preparation for getting the PDFs out to our GMs. On Monday sometime I will be taking a look at the games that we have and removing some that have few or no people signed up for them.
We have the GenCon Special, a great gaming schedule, tons of experienced GMs as well as many new faces signed up to play from the local community. Not only do we have all of the Central California and Reno Venture Officers signed up to attend, but Mike Azzalino, Josh Archer, and the infamous Cherry Pie are going to be visiting us on Sunday! And we still have a few exciting surprises up our sleeve that we haven't announced yet. For all of the above reasons, this is going to be an event you don't want to miss.
I hating dropping games that people want to play, so please take a moment over the weekend to look at the schedule, and make sure to sign up for any you don't want to disappear!
The warhorn site for ConQuest Sacramento can be found here:
http://warhorn.net/conquestsac-2013-pfs/
The official ConQuest Sacramento site can be found here:
http://www.conquestsac.com/
Also, I wanted to announce that I am going to be running a GM 101 and ConQuest Sacramento GM meetup at Mage's Realm on Thursday March 28th at 6 PM. See pathfinderfan.com for more information.
As always if you have any questions, don't hesitate to post them to the yahoo groups, or send me an email. :-)
Have Fun!
Brent

[Message from our Venture-Captain!]
Hello Everyone,
Although we will be taking walk-ins at the convention next weekend, we will be closing the warhorn site for sign-ups early next week. Be sure to sign yourself up for games that you want to play before the end of the weekend to reserve your seat at the table!
Our organizers and GMs are ramping up and prepping for the convention as we are only 6 days out! We have well over 100 tables of games at the convention, and they are filling up quickly.
In addition to the GenCon Special from 2012 that we are running on Saturday night, we're also going to be having the following events that evening with great prizes provided by Paizo:
A Character Popularity Contest - Did you enjoy gaming with someone's character? Enter the name of a character (as well as the player who played them) into the drop box at the coordinator's table. After Race for the Runcarved Key is over, we will announce the top three most popular characters and allow the winners to introduce everyone to their character. Afterwards they can pick an item from our treasure table, which will include items such as flip-maps, the Magnimar, City of Monuments Campaign Guide, and the Inner Sea World Guide.
A Gladiator Brawl - We are going to close out Saturday's festivities, with a PvP deathmatch. Eight lucky winners (hand drawn from a submission box) will be able to select one of 8 NPCs that the ConQuest PFS leadership crew has selected beforehand from the NPC Codex. They will fight on a 3d replica of a castle ruin until there's only one character standing. The winner will receive a brand new copy of Ultimate Equipment, with consolation prizes for the rest.
Trivia - We will be asking PFS, Pathfinder, and D&D trivia questions before and after the special on Saturday, with winners picking items from the treasure table.
As you can see, there is a lot of fun that is going to be had at the event, sign up and don't miss out!
Brent Holtsberry,
Venture Captain, Sacramento

Woo Hoo!
Here we go!
Hey, if anybody has a great story from ConQuest Sac, we could share it here.
Cheers, JMK
I broke a halfling! He was turned to stone in mid-air and didn't quite stick the landing.
Fortunately, his party knew what to do and were able to have him made whole and then turned him back to flesh.

For those of you who missed it:
Last Saturday one of the local TV stations had a live interview with the convention owner of ConQuest Sacramento. He was so impressed with what we were doing in the PFS room, that he chose to showcase our room in the broadcast.
You can see VL Rich Flynn running a table on the right, VC Scott Yaeger from Reno running a game to the left, as well as my back to the far left as I discuss the virtues of Pathfinder with an off-screen mother who had brought her two sons to the convention to check out PFS.
Cool Stuff!

Good positive coverage!
(I also spotted Will & Andi at two of your tables)

As for my weekend as a whole, it was AWESOME! Thanks to all those who sat at my tables this weekend and had a good time! Some favorite moments of mine:
- One of my area GM's ran "Feasts of Sigils" for me and a few fellow Sacramento players. We got beat to crap, even with two clerics of Sarenrae at the table! It was loads of fun!
-I got the chance to play Fabric of Reality with Lucia and she freaked the hell out after a spell went off, especially since the last adventure she played was Day of The Demon. As a result of Fabric of Reality she bought a cold iron Greataxe that goes along with her +1 flaming one.
-The Cultist Kiss was loads of fun to run, especially when you have a bunch or players who keep trying to force their way in. HIPAA for the win!
-Playing Sheila Heidmarch was also loads of fun, even with a certain high level Gnome character being annoyingly funny. :D And I kept my promise, I didn't lose my voice until the end of the convention!
-Getting to ghost as Kyra, and get to play up her newly revealed lifestyle as well as evangelize the name of Sarenrae. A fellow fetchling sorcerer was trying to hit on one of the NPC's in Race For The Runecarved Key, and Kyra was all like "Dude, she is way out of your league, and I don't even swing in your direction most days. Girls with books, know more about the world than you could ever know in your lifetime."
- Having my fellow area member Ryan win the area's first Pathfinder Battle Royale with a CLERIC!
It was a great convention. And! We're getting a second one as well in November! It's going to be loads of fun and I can't wait to do it again!

Edited post above for potential spoilers. Although quite frankly I will not remove my cold iron notes as all players should invest in one. And many new episodes of Season 4 even say you should have something with cold iron. Same with my notes about Feasts of Sigils as well. We had two clerics in our party and it was a difficult scenario. I am not spoiling it for anyone.

I had an amazing time this weekend! Great meeting new people from different areas and playing under different GMs. It was wonderful to see Andi Brandt (see I do post occasionally), Will Johnson, Josh McIllwain, Venus De Coy, Cody Landis, David & Emily Howard, Arthur Soares, George Rose, and what feels like a hundred others that I don't get to see as often as I'd like.
Seeing how smoothly everything went off and how much fun everyone had really made me proud.
Über thanks to Brent Holtsberry for all the hard work and organization. Nothing short of a miracle, my friend.

Im sure the Sac Society Group is still recovering from ConQuest. I was looking at the site and it hasnt been updated, still looking for some society games starting in June cause I move to Loomis in May (looking to find a game group for weekly or bi weekly gaming)
Actually, we've been gaming nonstop since Conquest! I don't know what schedule you were checking, but our Warhorn site ( http://warhorn.net/sacramento-pfs/schedule/month.php ) is constantly being updated. Hopefully we'll see you out here soon!

Hey Joey,
I'm working on updating pathfinderfan.com with some pretty big changes, so until I get the changes up and running, I've been updating the warhorn site on a weekly basis instead of the two months or so that I usually post at one time.
If you have any scheduling questions or requests, don't hesitate to contact me. :-)
Have Fun!
