I picked one of these for less than a dollar. It fits the size requirement for a large creature and looks pretty similar to The Scarecrow from the module. It is the world of warcraft Harvest Golem miniature.
It would be easy to glue a scythe to his hand (or on his back).
That is what I used. I didn't bother to mod it just because (a)I'm lazy and (b)it was only for one fight.

Yeah! That is the perfect mini available out there for the Scarecrow. I received the appropriate oohs and aahs when I put it on the table. The party dispensed with this creature fairly quickly, so I would not recommend a mod. And I agree the Kruegar claws do look bad ass. The party will likely forget all about the Scarecrow shortly thereafter anyway. ;)
