Year 4 Releases for Gen Con

GM Discussion

Dark Archive

I may be in the minority, but I'm feeling a little bit of time pressure regarding my preparation of the not-yet-released adventures for GenCon, especially the special.

Feel free to read this as "I don't know what minis to think about ordering if I don't have them, but I'd like to have time to do so".

Suggestion: Go down to the dealer room AT gencon for last minute mini needs. You'll be amazed at what you will find there.

As for your actual question, I believe we were told it would be around 2 weeks before gencon the season 4 scenarios would hit our boxes. I'm sure we are getting close.

We will have all Gen Con material to GMs no later than Friday, August 10 in order to give all volunteers at least one full weekend to prepare their scenarios before the convention.

Yeah, it sounds like not a lot of time, but just remember, they've had to put out 8 scenarios and a 1-12+ tier special within a month and a half, on top of getting things ready for PaizoCon and Gen Con.

(Of course I only have to worry about prepping the special, so I'm not that worried. And at least you won't have to prep the maps for the special. And hopefully a lot of the minis you'd need will be in the bestiary box we'll get.)

There are still a few custom maps that aren't flip-mats or map packs. They are, however, small in nature.

Two 1–12+ specials! Really, more like three, given the scope of Race for the Runecarved Key, Round Two.

My goal for GMing is to have discrete run-packets of my foamcored terrain and fairly representative minis before I leave home. That's only reinforced by having much more distance between me and home....

Oh crap. I had my dates wrong for my flight and arrangements! When you said the 10th, I was sure that was during GenCon and not enough time to prepare the scenario. This forced me to double check everything.

I am glad I read this discussion because I would have been in Indianapolis for a weekend with nothing to do!

.... Eager to prep... Or play midnight mirror tomorrow. But mostly prep.

So, should we expect them 5-6 pm Pacific time like most scenario releases?

I too, am feeling the time crunch. I have my own, and another GM's year fours and specials to print. (He does not have regular computer access.)

And I'd also like to see the next update to the additional materials list before Wed the 15th. If you wait that late, I will not be able to have it before Gencon, since I do not own a laptop and will be leaving at 8am local (6am out in Washington State).

There will be at least one copy of the new Additional Resources at HQ, at least while I'm there. It'll be on my iPad, not printed, as I'm heading out early on the 15th, but I will have a copy.

My Monday blog will list the changes going into Additional Resources effective on the 15th.

In all fairness Kyle, he did ask us not to put in the tarrasque AND the jaberwock. That might have been a bit over the top.

Mike, quit showing off how much more complete your to-do list is than Mark's. ;-)

You say "tarrasque AND the jaberwock" like that's a bad thing.

Some say "AHHHHHH!!!!", we say..."Ah, a challenge......"
