THE MATCH-UP
Master Chief (Petty Officer John-117) vs. Dr. Gordon Freeman
In this thread we will be discussing a hypothetical scenario pitting the two most iconic "run and gunners" in recent memory against one another. Assume that Master Chief has access to all traditional Marine weapons, and that Dr. Freeman has access to all the earthly weapons associated with the Half-Life universe (including the gravity gun and the mighty crowbar). Either character could simply snipe the other - so assume that the fight comes down to more than that. The battlefield could be just about anywhere - a ruined Earthly city feels about right.
Cortana is a factor! She's practically one of Master Chief's weapons. Assume that both parties begin the battle searching for one another (and thus each may have a little time to prepare).

Dr. Gordon Freeman hands down.
He's sponsored buy the G-Man and the G-man does not like to lose valuable assets.
And Gordon has the super gravity gun at times.

The first time I read this I thought it was "Morgan Freeman." lol.
For the record Morgan Freeman would simply start talking and lul them into a dreamlike trance as he calmly walked over and snapped Master Chief's neck. ;-)
I played both Halo, and the Half-life series, Half-life for the win.
Geez, really? I thought Master Chief would have more support. His armor is significantly better (and his physical strength is incredible), and then there's Cortana.
Gordon's only significant advantage as far as I can see is that he happens to be much, much smarter than MC.
Gordon's hazard suit is almost just as good as MC's armour,
Gorden has also used proto-type weapons, that can kill exceedingly well armoured enemies that are next to invincible.

John has Cortana, so if Freeman uses anything remotely technical, he's spotted and dragged with a couple of SPNKR rounds before he knows what hit him.
If he stays radio silent & uses his crowbar, he has exactly one chance to whack Master Chief on the back of his head.

Decent match, advantage: Chief (mostly due to Cortana).
