Is there a shaman class?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hi all!

Pardon my ignorance, but i'm relatively new to PFRPG.

Is there a shaman class in Pathfinder? If not, is there an archetype that's "shamany"?

Would the Oracle be a good choice for a shaman-like player?

Oracles and druids are both excellent choices for a shaman.

An adept might also work.

Oracle or Druid, imo, are the best choices, depending on which Mystery and what, precisely, you mean by "Shaman."

You could do it with a Cleric, if you're going the "philosophical (non-deity)" cleric and select your Domains to fit.

But Oracle or Druid work with less work, if you take my meaning.

For NPCs, the Adept class easily re-skins to Shaman, maybe with a little skill tweaking (don't remember their class skills offhand) and maybe switching out a few spells on their list.

EDIT: Ninja? In a shaman thread?! ai-ya...

No, yes, and yes.
There isn't a shaman class in Paizo rules. There ARE several druid "animal shaman" archetypes. And some oracles are very shamanic (particularly, Ancestor, Bone, Juju and Nature mysteries).
There ARE a few shamanic class from 3PP- I remember Adamant's version in Tome of Secrets, Super Genius Games version, and Kobold Quarterly 21's version- that's my favorite as for now (a little oracle, a little witch and much druid).

A witch may also work, depending on what kind of shaman you plan on playing.

If memory serves, there are actually some Druid archetypes with "Shaman" in the name. I think they're in the APG and/or Ultimate Magic.

That is correct there is Shamanic archetype material in both volumnes. Essentially, they are animal totem druids.

That's my favorite as well! ;)

You can check it out here --->Shaman - Kobold Quarterly 21

The Witch class is also very Shaman style. That's the class I used for my Mwangi Shaman.

This thread is still something you could find in an internet search. The information in the thread was out-of-date. That's been fixed now. The internet is better as a result!
