As I made my way into a small town a few weeks back, I came across a rather odd group of characters. I ignored them as usual and went about my business. One of the characters caught my attention -- an almost completely naked human fighter that was drunk beyond belief. It simply furthered my disdain for what this world has become and my longing to see it all burn.
A scrawny looking fellow sat next to me at the bar and an ordered a hearty glass of milk and tried to start a conversation with me. I tried to ignore him like the rest, but he was persistent. As I was telling him to drop dead, a commotion broke out upstairs. Being none of my concern, I continued to drink as my new annoyance ran off to see what was the matter. A few moments later, he came running back down and yelled at the naked human that "this was the the one they were supposed to protect! She was the one with the reward money!". After hearing that and figuring that I can always use more coin, I started for the door to see if I could help. That is, until the naked man hurled himself at the tavern wall and made his own doorway. I followed him out of the new doorway and saw a tied woman being carried off by a small band of Goblins. They made off to the sewers and closely following was a small group of adventurers including the naked one, a paladin, a cleric, and cavalier. Not knowing how much reward was available for the maiden, I decided against going into those filthy tunnels. After looking the town's layout over a few times, I figured out where they would most likely wind up and I went over the the according sewer cover. The annoying little man decided to follow me along with a Tengu, which made me disdain them even more.
As usual, I was right and we dropped in right in front of the Goblins hideout and the now filth covered rescue party. I let them all charge in first and do the fighting, but made my presence known so I would be included in whatever reward was involved.
After all was said and done, we were all given 200gp, which was a little less than I would have liked, but isn't bad pay for dropping down a hole and watching others fight. we were then all offered to escort her to her next destination for 1000pg per person. Seeing as this group seems more than eager to do all of the fighting, I think I will join them and hang around as long as there is good coin for doing little.

While on our journey the half naked warrior, whom I am sure is mentally retarded, decided to split off and follow some Gnome who was peddling some elixir on the side of the road. They went off to find the 'shiny treasure' that was waiting just an hour or so into the woods. we all saw this as a trap, but we were more than willing to get rid of his annoying antics and deadly curiosity.
A couple of hours later, to our surprise, he re-emerged out of the woods (just in time for a battle) driving a carriage with four dead Gnomes inside. This battle, I had to fling a few spells but, for the most part, I stayed far enough away to be able to flee if needed and close enough to still get paid.
Along the way to our city of destination, the annoying little man kept trying to befriend me. After noticing that he had kept the same stance in battle as I, I asked if I may see his spell book. He hastily handed off his book and I quickly noticed that many of his spells were from the school of Necromancy. He had mentioned he was a wizard to the group, but kept this little bit of information to himself. He might prove to be useful, so I may give him a little attention.
We arrived at our destination and the retarded one quickly made off with all of the spoils from the party's battles. I probably would have done the same, but I definitely wouldn't have made it so obvious. I headed off to the local tavern as it has been days without a drink and I can feel the trembling starting. While there, the cleric of the group mentioned that there was a family looking for someone to cleans their new home of spirits and other monsters. Seeing as our latest endeavor was now resting at a temple and we had received our pay, I guess I was now being considered part of the group. I was about to take my leave and sever my ties with this group, but the name of the Manor sounded familiar. I will have to look into this further before I part ways.
