What happens when you Height the spell `Summon Monster`?

Rules Questions

Just curious.

you waste a higher evel slot.

It gets harder to dispell or counter.

Nothing. Well nothing beneficial anyway. All it does is take up a higher level spell slot.

re: dispel/counterspell, those function on caster level NOT spell level, so aren't really effected.
basically, there's stuff like 'globe of invulnerability' that cares about spell level.
so MAYBE if you have a rod of heigten it COULD be useful for summons,
but not if you're actually 'paying for' it with higher level slots.

Yep my bad for some reason i was thinking they did use spell level.

Shakes his head.

I have to stop posting when I am brain dead.

Yes not all spells benefit from all metamagic.

An Extended Fireball for example is equally pointless.

Nothing the least bit useful.

Hmm... since identifying a spell being cast has a DC based on spell level (which, on Heighten, does increase, your summoning would be marginally more difficult to recognize as what is is.
Not exactly worth the slot upgrade, but hey; that's more than nothing...
