Noobs to PaizoCon

PaizoCon General Discussion

Hey all:

My hubby and I will be making the trek to PaizoCon from Canada (Calgary). We just booked our hotel :), will buy the Con ticket(s) as soon as I figure out my hubby's password for his Paizo account :)

Some questions:
We went to GenCon in 2008 - had a blast and I fully understand that PaizoCon will not be anywhere near the same size, but my main question is: I do not game, so would it be worth getting a ticket for myself, or should I just set my hubby loose, and spend my time shopping/sightseeing/relaxing. I did enjoy GenCon, however there were non-gaming events held for spouses. I do enjoy painting minis for my hubby, so that would be something I would be interested in - not sure if it would be worth $40 to go to a session or two hmmm...

When do event/seminar/session schedules normally get released? I'm sure hubby will be eager to get this info?

I think that's it for now - looking forward to our first trip to Seattle.

Interesting ... my wife is in the same boat. I did buy her a ticket on the off chance that she'd want to dip her toes in the activities, though, now I'm wondering if maybe someone should try to organize a "For the Spouses" activity list.

There must be more than a few spouses just tagging along for the ride, who will be looking for ways to fill the time.

My wife is a part-time gamer, so she doesn't plan on doing much at PaizoCon in that realm. However, I did buy her a ticket just for the opportunity to check it out and participate if interested, oh and also for the banquet

my girlfriend does not game, too. I bought her a ticket but she will be looking for other activities.

A "for the spouses" activity would be great

We decided to get me a ticket too, just so I have the option of checking out the Con. As far as spouse activities... I was planning on going to an outlet mall and will have room for a few people to join me if they want. I am also looking into a whale-watching excursion (hubby doesn't want to go, so it would be one of the days of the con if I do this), a few people could join me on this also if they wanted... we are driving from Canada, so we will have our vehicle there, or if we end up flying, we will have a car rental, so no worries. Please let me know if any of your "gaming widows" are interested.

We're from Victoria, so the wife is a regular Seattle shopper, the Marysvill Outlets, etc., but that's about as far as it gets.

Unfortunately we're never there for much else but shopping, so I'm not sure we're the best candidates for planning events. We do have a van though, if something like this becomes "semi-official".

For people who want something yummy and are going to be traveling around, check out Bakery Nouveau in Seattle. Great stuff there.
