Smilodon Pierce Armor

Rules Discussion

If the Smilodon uses this action and hits, does it also do damage against the attacked creature or will there only be the effects from this action, say armor is broken, knocked prone or 2d6 bleed damage?

It's a Fangs Strike, so 2d20+6 piercing damage. Plus Grab technically, but that doesn't matter since it can only use Pierce Armor against a target that's already grabbed anyway.

What I would like to know is : Does the Smilodon, which already grabbed somebody, only damage the armor with the "Pierce Armor"-action or does it deal hp damage to the victim as well?

Pierce Armor Single Action

The smilodon makes a fangs Strike against a creature it is grabbing. If the attack hits, the creature is knocked prone; if the creature is wearing armor with hardness 10 or lower, the armor is broken. If this Strike breaks a creature's armor or damages a creature who is unarmored or wearing broken armor, the creature also takes 2d6 persistent bleed damage. This Strike doesn't further damage armor that's already broken.

The smilodon makes a Strike against the creature. That has the normal effects of making a Strike against the creature. On a hit or critical hit, damage is dealt to the creature.

The other lines, which I did not bold, are in addition to the normal effects of the Strike, not replacements.

The "...or damages a creature who is unarmored or wearing broken armor" part of the text also confirms that yes, this action involves the standard Fangs Strike and it's damage.

Thank you :)
