Question on adding extra Chronicles sheet

GM Discussion

Shadow Lodge 4/5

I have DM'd for PFS, but never had a character, so I wasn't sure about how this works.

I have a character that I've never played. It is legal and registered, just I've never played. I downloaded the extra materials from the Additional Resources, and am just not really sure about them.

Can I just apply them, if I own the material in question (the novels in particular)? Does my not having actually played the character (or any character) mean anything in this case? Obviously I can't use them for all my characters, (right?).

Your fame counts towards how much you can spend on a single item -- so yes, not having played the character yet, you're going to be a bit limited. And there is only on chronicle sheet per character (the novel chronicles might be different but I haven't looked at those).

there is a table on page 21 of the Organized Play Guidethat shows you the breakdown of how much fame is needed per max gold that can be spent on any one item while purchasing.

I kind of get that, but they offer other things, too. They might offer for example a 1 time use Boon or skill bonus.

The problem is, I've never really DM higher level stuff yet for PFS, so it has never been an issue, and I am currently deployed, so I don't have access to other people or materials that easily.

If it's on the chronicle as a one time use boon or skill bonus you can use that any of the times that you play the character from my understanding

OK. Thanks for your help.

GMs never receive the boons listed on normal chronicles if the chronicle is earned for GMing the scenario. They only get the XP, Prestige, gold, and access to the appropriate sub-tier of gear for their character. The chronicles for the novels are a bit different, as you are not playing through anything, so anything on those chronicle sheets can be used by any character it is given to and not just one you have played. Novel chronicles can also only be applied to one character. Rules for GM credit are on page 29 of the current Guide and novel chronicle rules are on page 22.

There are a few exceptions to this rule, but they are rare.

I don't believe that the novel chronicles are limited to only one per player.

This is correct. The rules for the Pathfinder Tales boons specifically state that they may be applied to any and all of your characters.

The holiday boons, when available, can only be applied to one character.

Then the Guide needs to be updated to reflect that about the novels, as it says any single character, not as many characters as you want.
