I vaguely recall hearing that there was a pdf of the subset of the rules for the beginner box that was released, am I 100% crazy?
If you mean "can I get a PDF of the Beginner Box?," the answer is yes. You get it for free if you had the Pathfinder RPG subscription, or you can purchase it from the Beginner Box product page (that's what the "add PDF" link is for).

If you mean "is there additional material in PDF format for the Beginner Box?," the answer is yes. Go to the Beginner Box page and scroll down until you see
* the Beginner Box Player Pack (a new class and new options for the four classes in the Beginner Box)
* the Beginner Box GM Kit (new monsters and magic items), and
* the Beginner Box Bash Demos (four new short adventures for 1st-level characters).
All three of those are free PDFs.
