The Chronicles of Solomon

Campaign Journals

Session date: 2011/11/14

Background & Description:
My name is Solomon, and I am an Inquisitor of Gorum. The world is changed. I can feel it in the water, I can feel it in the earth, I can smell it in the air. My dreams tell me that Gorum has a plan for me to combat some creatures in the south, and so I must go.

I left Varisia but on the way to the island, the ship crashed on this forsaken island. I was able to grab my armor, shield and sword before the ship sank and I ended up on the shore with a several other survivors, all sailors. On the shore, we were able to pick up rations, a waterskin and some gear. I tried to keep the protect the sailors and keep them alive, but they were not capable of using weapons effectively and a winged creature has been after us and killed all the other survivors. I have been able to barely fend it off, however with the help of a dryad named Aycenia who has been healing me and providing a safe place to rest at night, I managed to survive. Aycenia has told me of others that were ship wrecked on the island, about eighty days before me. She has been in contact with them via her ways, and she tells me that they are coming soon.

I await their arrival and our leaving this island of death so I may continue with Gorum's plan for me.

Kuthona 29 (Day 87)
Aycenia and I are sitting at the fire, when the adventurers she has been talking with via trees show up. They are called Jig-wren-doh, a gnome cleric of Gozreh, Jasper, a human practitioner of arcane magic, Crusher, a half-orc warrior and Ishirou, a human rogue. I will join with them and we will kill the flying creature that has been attacking me, and eventually get off this island.

Kuthona 30 (Day 88)
We head to a lighthouse that they found and cleared of cannibals. We rest for the night, and head off up the coast to find the winged creature and this Ieana creature that they told me about.

Kuthona 31 (Day 89)
We head east up the coast, and find nothing.

Abadius 1 (Day 90)
Today is New Years and Foundation Day, but we are on this island, so no celebration. We continue east up the coast and find nothing.

Abadius 2 (Day 91)
We continue to head east up the coast, and find nothing.

Abadius 3 (Day 92)
We continue to head east up the coast, and find nothing. At night on my watch, we kill a crab which is dinner for the next few days.

Abadius 4 (Day 93)
We continue to head east up the coast, and find nothing.

Abadius 5 (Day 94)
We continue to head east up the coast, and find nothing. In the morning, we kill another crab. That evening we find a wrecked ship, the Wave Reaper. There is a large blight area around the ship, but flowers grow on the ship. Jig-wren-doh transplants one of the flowers into the blight are and it immediately dies. At night we see lightning and hear thunder from the red mountain.

Abadius 6 (Day 95)
We head overland towards the Red Mountain. There is a fifty foot wide gorge with a rope bridge. Smartly we cross one at a time and all make it across.

Abadius 7 (Day 96)
We head towards where the lightning was, but camp and can't find anything. There are four monoliths and a center pyramid. The others tell me that they have seen pictures of this and some writing in a system of caves under the camp where the lighthouse is. We discuss what to be done, but can not come to a decision yet. As we head off the mountain to camp, just before evening, my nemesis comes. I pronounce Gorum's Judgment on it and increase the damage that my sword will do. We kill the beast without it laying a claw or bite on me even thought it concentrates all it attacks on me. Crusher damaged it, but I had the killing blow. The sailors that I survived with are now avenged! We move off into the jungle and make camp for the night.

Session date: 2011/12/12

Abadius 8 (Day 97)
We go back to the stones and pyramid, catching a snake and putting it into a bag. I cut my hand and put some blood on each of the snake symbols on the pyramid, have the snake we caught lick the blood. I then put the sea water that was in my helm and pour it into the bowl in the pyramid. Lightning comes, Jig-wren-doh, who foolishly climbed on one of the monoliths almost dies from the lightning. He and I and Ishirou are deafened for a few minutes, but it passes. Jig-wren-doh heals myself and him and we continue to the door that has been exposed. A ship is also exposed, called the Salty Strumpet. We enter the ship and a strange creature, apparently the Captain pops up and starts talking to us. I figure it is a water mephit familiar to a dead wizard, and the poor thing has gone crazy. We finish searching what is left of the ship see a magic glow. As Crusher and I head towards the glow, a flower attacks Crusher and I! Both myself and Jig-wren-doh go down and then Jasper, Ishirou and Crusher drag us upstairs. We go back to the jungle and rest for the day.

Abadius 9 (Day 98)
Ok, we go back to the monoliths and pyramid and go thru the same ritual. I suffer damage again but only Jasper is deafened. We head down to the strange doors and bypass the ship completely. There is a shark in the water. Jig-wren-doh puts a drop of blood in and talks to the shark. We get to the door and find them open. We enter a ten foot wide corridor and travel about fifty feet into a large open room with a bridge across the middle. The room shows vampires and other nasty things. That is ok. Vampires yes, flowers no. Two skeletal snake men throw javelins at me, and one hits. We run under the bridge and the dumb things jump down from the bridge. One dies, and the other we kill. We go thru the far door and see stairs up on both sides. We see runes on the wall, covered by newer runes that we scrapped away. Ishirou reads the runes and sees mention of a place called Saventh-Yhi, which is the city built over the body of the Beheaded God Ydersius who was beheaded by the Azlanti hero name is Savith. We continue to explore. Run into some more skeletal undead and kill them. We fall into three different traps along the way, but Ishirou figures out how to reset and jam them closed. We approach another set of doors.

Session date: 2012/01/09
Back from a long Christmas break

Abadius 9 (Day 98) continued...
We open the door, and there is an octagonal room with a pool of blood in the middle. Crusher, Jasper and I enter. Bronze plates drop behind us and three razor sharp pendulums swing down, hurting myself and Jasper. We run thru the room, and open the far door and step into a ten by ten room. The bronze plates open and all of us run into the room. I heal myself, and then we open the next set of doors and there is a huge room, and we see our adversary, Ieana. I bless the group and the battle is on. She calls on Crusher to protect her. A skeleton misses me, and another hits me. Crusher runs up and one of the skeletons hits him and he puts it down. Ishirou uses his Javelin of Lightning and damages her. The battle continues with Crusher changing sides, and Jasper puts him asleep after he hits me. At the end of the battle she touches her blood, touches the statue, turns gaseous and disappears through a hole in the ceiling. Myself, Jasper and Ishirou touch our own blood and follow her. We see Ieana on the floor with Sasha standing over her. I do not believe and attack Sasha. Between the three of us we kill “Sasha” and she turns into Ieana at her death. We search the room and find many clerical treasures and a hidden cache that is actually a trap and as Ishirou opens it he turns bat like. There is some treasure in there. We touch our blood, touch the new statue, turn gaseous and head back to the main temple room. We search this room, make copies of the carvings, turn ourselves gaseous and leave, closing the door behind us.

Abadius 10 (Day 99)
Jask healed us up last night, so we head back to the temple and Jig-wren-doh casts comprehend languages and we take notes on what it says. It tells the story of the vampire goddess cult, including another reference to Saventh-Yhi, an Azlanti city. Jig-wren-doh destroys the altar and as a reward for removing this evil, his god Gozreh grants him the ability to cast a higher than normal spell for the day, and he cures Ishirou of his curse. As we leave we run into one final creature, that we try to take out at range, but it moves around one of the corners. Crusher and I attack it, but he is grappled. Crusher and I are both blinded. We finally kill it and continue to try and leave the temple. More things are coming out of hiding. It must be because Jig-wren-doh destroyed the altar. Two tiny little things start attacking us. We kill them . They are dolls made of small bones and twine and they have evil rubies inside of them.

Abadius 11-24 (Day 100-114)
Nothing happens for two weeks.

Abadius 25 (Day 115)
The Red Gull, Aulek Tegerten captain, lands at the island and takes us on to Eleder.

Session date: 2012/01/30

Abadius 26 – Calistril 09 (Day 116-130)
I learn Azlanti from Aerys and help translate the documents while our new ship does whaling and we see the occasional other ship. One piece of information is to look for Tazion outpost in the interior to find Saventh-Yhi. We finally reach Eleder

Calistril 10 (Day 131)
Jask is arrested, and is taken to the headquarters. We show the proof to the government that he was wrongly accused, and he is finally freed. Jask asks us to join the Sargarvan faction.

While we are shopping Crusher and I spot two men following us. We approach them, and find out they are named Spar and Selax, and the represent the Pathfinders. They ask us to join them. We sell them the log from the Night Voice ship for 1000 gp.

Ishirou approaches us and speaks for the Aspis Consortium. He seems disheartened when we say we will think about it.

Aerys comes with Kassata Lewynn, ships captain and wishes us to join the Free Captains. Kassata gives Jig-wren-doh her hat, our gnome cleric just loves hats, and a kiss on the cheek. Jig-wren-doh is quite smitten with her.

That evening we are approached by the Red Mantis society and “asked” to join with them. It was more of a threat then anything else.

Jig-wren-doh sneaks out of the room that night and visits Kassata.

We speak most of the night, and have eliminated the Red Mantis, Sargavan and Aspis Consortium factions.

Calistril 11 (Day 132)
That morning after we told the three that have been eliminated, Sasha is sent to us, missing three more fingers. She says that is the Mantis message to us. Jig-wren-doh is quite upset, and scared.

However, we finally decide to go with the Pathfinders and they give us each a Wayfinder and the usual and customary gold so we can equip ourselves. We have about a week before the expedition will set out. During the day, while we are selling our loot that we collected from that damn island, and buying better equipment, a representative from the Free Captains approaches us individually, along with Jig-wren-doh. They try to get us to change our minds, however, there would be no honor in changing now, as we accepted the offer from the Pathfinders so we turn them down.

Later that day, we meet with Amivor Glaur, who will be the Pathfinder in charge of expedition. He tells us that wagons, equipment and supplies are being gathered in warehouses. He also is helping me find an animal companion that Gorum has told me to look for. Also, he is quite upset at Jig-wren-doh, since he hocked his Wayfinder.

Session date: 2012/02/13

Calistril 12 (Day 133)
Jig-wren-doh decides to leave us and head back to the island to be with his dryad friend, Aycenia. Amivor tells us that we need to head to the warehouses where the caravan supplies are being gathered. On the way, citizens run past us yelling that dogs have been let loose and are attacking them. Crusher and I slaughter the dogs. We approach the warehouse and there are two men trying to light it on fire. We kill one and capture the other. He tells us of Umagro at the South Arcadian Whaling Company, who is a prophet to free all slaves and he has our friend Pezock, then he passes out. We leave him to die. A new man comes up to us, Mathias. He is from the Pathfinder society, and Amivor told him about the expedition and to join us. We decide to free Pezock. Mathias leads us to the Whaling Company area. We enter the whaling company area. Kill two more freeman and try to climb to where Pezock and Umagro are. Three men are on the second floor of the whaling building and they throw whale oil and alchemist fire on us. They set Crusher on fire, but we put it out and finally kill the three of them. They wished to die as free men, so we obliged. I climb the ladder and open it. Jasper, Crusher and Mathias follow us. There is a loud squeak as hatch opens, so Umagro knows we are coming. He slits Pezock's throat and throws him off the roof. I charge him, but fall off the pitched roof. Mathias runs to save Pezock, and Crusher and Jasper, seeing that I fell, approach him slowly. After landing, I quickly cast a cure on Pezock, and Mathias starts shooting arrows at Umagro from the ground, while I run back to help. Crusher rages and kills him. Fool man. We head back to our warehouse to make sure that everything is ok, then back into Amivor and tell him what happened.

Amivor tells us that Nkechi the Tempest, a cleric of Gozreh, would be a very good guide and we should enlist his aid. He lives a day journey from Eleder. Amivor takes us to Garp, another Pathfinder, who trades a wand of lessor restoration for something interesting to be brought back from the city of Saventh-Yhi. We decided to leave the next morning to enlist the aid of Nkechi.

Session date: 2012/02/20

Calistril 13 (Day 134)
We head north the next morning to find Nkechi. He lives in a cave in the Pallid Bluffs, a few miles north of the city. We camp out for the night and approach where his cave should be the next morning.

Calistril 14 (Day 35)
After killing a couple of the crabs that attacked us, we see a conch shell sitting on a shelf. Crusher uses it as a horn and Nkechi comes down. He shows us the easy path up to his cave. We tell him about the travel to Saventh-Yhi. The next city we come will be Kalabuto. He tells us we have to do two tasks before he will agree to be our guide. The tasks are Challenges of the Wind and Water, in honor of Gozreh. We decide to do the task of the Wind first, which is to get a feather from a storm bird, named Chirok, which is a days walk to the east. We set out and travel the day and camp out for the night.

Calistril 15 (Day 136)
We get up and see the peak ahead of us, and there is a nest about 500 feet up. I cast tongues on Crusher and Jasper casts spider climb on him from a scroll. He gets to the nest and convinces Chirok to give him a feather, and climbs back down. As he arrives back and four natives approach us and wish to know what we were doing there. Crusher shows them the feather and they don't believe that Chirok gave us the feather. One of them climbs up and confers with their sacred bird, comes down and confirms that we did not attack Chirok and they ask us to leave, which we do. Later that day we make it back to Nkechi. We show him the feather and he gives the challenge of the Water. Head north to the oyster beds and get a black pearl.

Calistril 16 (Day 137)
Nkechi gives us directions to where the oyster beds are. As we approach the oyster beds, we see some pearl divers and they tell us where the pearls can be found. We trade them two sunrods and two alchemist fires and they allow us to use their boat, float devices and sand bags to drop down to the bottom. I and Crusher each take a potion of water breathing and we head down and search for pearls. After a bit, a kelpie charms Crusher and I drive it off. We find a black pearl and head back to Nkechi.

Calistril 17 (Day 138)
Nkechi has us sit in a circle, and paints our face and begins to chant. He eats a root and has us eat a root also. We feel like we are exiting our bodies and see the Mwangi Expanse below us, then the sky turns red. We turn into animals, myself a lion, Mathias a cheetah, Crusher a tiger, Crusher a blue macaw, and Nkechi a crab. He tells about the city, when a snake that looks like Ieana comes and attacks us. Myself, Mathias and Crusher all charge her and tear her to bits in our animal forms. We then wake up from the dream and Nkechi agrees to come with us as guide. He wishes to come with us.

Calistril 18 (Day 139)
We head back to town and talk with Amivor. He says that the expedition is ready to go the next day. We sleep the night and prepare ourselves the next days travel.

Calistril 19 (Day 140)
We head out the next day, and I meet a native man with Amivor and I get my animal companion, N'Longa, the name that Gorum sent to me in my dreams. We bond almost immediately and head back to the group, and continue on. Amivor tells us that they will send runners daily, and they will resupply us every few days. We should make the trail and proceed quickly to try and become the first group to Taizon, where we will find the gateway to Saventh-Yhi.

Session date: 2012/03/05

Calistril 20 (Day 141)
Amivor tells us when we get to Kalabuto, don't stay at the inn or talk with locals, but speak with a dwarf named Cheiton, to be found at the Shrunken Head which is a tavern. He has a cave and pick tattoo on his shoulder.

We head out as the trailblazers for the party. Nkechi tells us that we go thru the mines it should save us some time, so we agree to thru that, as the mine has been abandoned for a decade or so. It should take us 5 and a half days to reach the mines.

Calistril 21 (Day 142)
Nothing happens

Calistril 22 (Day 143)
Nothing happens

Calistril 23 (Day 144)
Nothing happens

Calistril 24 (Day 145)
As we turn a bend in the trail, there is a rhinoceros in the middle of the trail. It is not happy, and charges me. Mathias shoots an arrow at it, Jasper casts armor on N'Longa, and I hit it as well and Crusher does. Mathias shoots it again, but I miss, however N'Longa and Crusher finish it off. Looks like we will have rino steak for dinner for a couple of days.

Calistril 25 (Day 146)
Nothing happens

Calistril 26 (Day 147)
Around midday we hear noise in the bushes, and a Druidess with her dinosaur comes out. She is Athyra and her companion is Jaji. She tells us that her father owned the mine and he and his wife are dead in the mine and there are ghosts in the mine. We tell her that we are going thru and she asks us to return her fathers locket and that she will meet us on the other side.

At the mine entrance there is an old camp and as we search it, we find an old journal. The mine owner Feran Crinhouse, was looking for salt deposits and was trying to connect his mine to a mine on the far side of the hills. When they broke through the wall the miners said they saw a blue orb. The final entry, written in a different hand says “they have come up from below, they are all dead and their touch withers the flesh. May the gods have mercy on us.”

We decide to go in anyway, with Crusher leading the way. There is water in the mine, and as we pass through the first area, a water creature attacks Crusher. We kill it. Going further, two salt wights attack us and we kill them also. We found a strong box and Mathias opens it. There is a deed to the mine naming Athyra as the inheritor, and some cash.

We here a knocking noise further into the mine. It seems to be coming from the next cave. As we enter, we are hit by falling rocks, and we see two of the salt wights on the ceiling. They stupidly drop down and Crusher kills one in one shot and the other drops down so Crusher swings again. It smacks Crusher well. Mathias kills it with an arrow and we continue to search the area. We find a machine called the crusher. We think that it is repairable. Our Crusher is fascinated and two of the salt wights manage to attack us. Crusher is so entranced with the machine that he swings last, but he does kill them.

We search the southern area, and then head into the next main cavern that has a small island. We see a small blue orb that is pulsing with a blue light that detects as magical. We approach it and two creatures exit and the battle is on. We put them down quickly, with Crusher and I landing blows, and Mathias using arrows and Jasper with his Flaming Spheres. After then die, Crusher and I finally destroy this object, that Jasper told us was creating the undead.

We leave the mine and Athyra is there to meet us. We give her the locket and bring her parents bodies out for burial. She does not understand what a deed is to the mine so we keep it for now. I think that I will give it to the Pathfinders and let them deal with the mine and help Athyra. She wants to come with us, so we will take her along.

During Crushers watch that night, we are attacked by six men! We killed three of them, two died and we stabilize one of them to question. Crusher and I intimidate the man, and he slips that the Red Mantis are their employers. We slit his throat cleanly. We collect the armor and goods from the dead men, and Athyra and I fit N'Longa with one of the studded leather armors. When we wake up the next day, the three men that ran are found with their throats slit a short way from the camp. I guess the Red Mantis don't pay for failure.

Session date: 2012/03/26

Calistril 27 (Day 148)
Nothing happens during the day. As we are looking for a camping spot we come upon a caravan that is bedded down for the night. An old man named Rickets greets us after we hailed the camp and asks if we want to bet on the cockfight. Crusher bets 50gp on the underdog, Cornugun, and the fighting begins. His bird wins, but Rickets claims that Crusher cheated and Jasper cast a spell on the bird and refuses to pay. When we insist, he has his men attack us. Two go down and are bleeding out, and the third after being hit by a magic missile and an arrow wisely decides to surrender when I tell him to. Rickets pays Crusher his 100gp winnings. Crusher insists on Rickets apologizing but he won't. However he gives both Crusher and Jasper another 50gp as compensation. We leave the camp behind and travel another 30 minutes down the road and settle down for the night, keeping an extra careful eye on watch.

Calistril 28 (Day 149)
As we travel, Mathias sees movement in a tree that we are about to go under, so we move around the tree so not to disturb whatever is there.

Pharast 1 (Day 150)
Nothing happens.

Pharast 2 (Day 151)
We travel during the day, and nothing happens, but as night approaches we see a small village and approach it. Several villagers come out and thru Nkechi we learn that they wish to trade. We enter the village and eat dinner. Crusher and Jasper see an old woman duck into a hut. We find that she is the village shaman, and I tell them that I am a shaman also. Jasper does many magic tricks which the children enjoy and clap. We have a good time, and they show us to a hut. We trade them a short bow and some good daggers for carved goods.

Just before we settle down for the night, the old woman shaman comes in and tells us that a single chemosit comes into the village and takes some villagers and eats them. This has been going on for two weeks now. We tell her that we will take care of the problem for her. She puts goats blood on the lintel outside the hut. During the night, one of these creatures breaks down the door and I pronouncement bane and judgment on it, and Crusher and I kill it quickly. We leave the hut when another one drops from the roof, and Crusher and I kill that one quickly also, with Jasper and Mathias helping.

Pharast 3 (Day 152)
The next morning the shaman comes to us and thanks us. She insists on giving us two things. A treasure map, and a shrunken monkey head, that can be used to banish evil spirits. The villagers are happy, cook us breakfast and give us thanks. Crusher and I try to find the tracks, but the monkey like creatures came in from the trees and we cannot find a trail. Nkechi tells us that the treasure map is for a place after Kalabuto so for now we put it in a pouch. Before we leave, I ask the shaman her name and she replies Krisha. I tell her that Gorum will know of her and her villages bravery and he will watch over them. We continue on the trail.

We come across some dinosaur tracks, and we follow it for a few minutes. I ask Athyra if she wants to try and talk to it, but if the creature attacks us we will have to kill it. She asks to leave, so we leave the tyrannosaurs rex to itself. Nothing else happens during the day.

Pharast 4 (Day 153)
Nothing happens.

Pharast 5 (Day 154)
Late in the afternoon, we come across some snaking mounds wandering across the plains. Mathias falls into an ankeg hole, and climbs out as three of the creatures attack us. We kill them and continue on and nothing else happens that day.

Pharast 136 (Day 155)
Next day I hear some barking ahead, but we continue on. The barking stops but the grass is moving towards us. Two hyenas break from the grass and look quite hungry! The other hyenas in the pack will have a feast on their corpses as we leave the bodies and move along. We make camp later and nothing else happens.

Pharast 137 (Day 156)
We continue on and spot vultures circling around. As they continue more circle, but we still continue on. As we are about to make camp, two very large vultures join the circle. I think they are geiers, which are essentially very large vultures. I guess pickings are so good as the geiers decide to attack us. One attacks N'Longa, and one attacks Jasper. I and N'Longa put the one that tried to bite him down. Jasper uses a wand on the other, while Mathias peppers it with arrows. Crusher, N'Longa and I drop the other one. We camp for the night and nothing happens.

Pharast 138 (Day 157/14)
On the trail, we spot three lions that stop in the middle of the trail. N'Longa and I move up to meet them. He and the other cats greet each other and then they leave. Nothing else happens that day.

Pharast 139 (Day 158/15)
We see a tree with many skeletons hanging, as well as many skeletons and bones on the ground around it. Nkechi tells us that Mzali warriors don't like Sargavans and this is their message to all Sargavans. Jasper checks to see if spells have been cast in the area, and when he says not, we continue on. As we near the tree, eight of the bodies rise as undead and attack us as well as some of the bodies still hanging begin to shake. We destroy the ones on the ground, then Jasper and I move into 30 feet and use our Disrupt Undead orisons to kill the ones in the tree.

Session date: 2012/04/09

Pharast 9 (Day 158/15) continued
After killing all the undead we push on to the city of Kalabuto. As we enter the city, we are surrounded by children trying to sell us stuff. I buy a small carved wooden token from a little girl named Kimi. It sort of looks like a lion. She follows us around town signaling others. We find the tavern, and Cheiton. He leads us to his house, and we enter. He scares off Kimi. He gives us three wands of curing, moderate, serious, light, and he promises to sell all the equipment that we have gathered, and get me another wand of curing light. Jasper takes the wand of cure moderate, which he might be able to use in battle.

The food arrives, and he gives us some dwarven ale with the food. He also tells us about the tribes and the undead hanging from trees. Also cannibalistic fey, and demon worshiping ape-men called charau-ka. We go to sleep and in the middle of the night are attacked. We kill two of them, and two flee. We get some more gear for Cheiton to sell, and after stripping the bodies, we shove them out the window for our foes to clean up.

Pharast 10 (Day 159/16)
We wake up, and tell Cheiton what happened. He says he will sell the stuff and give the money to the caravan who will give it to us. We head out of town, and back into the trail. Cheiton tells us to follow the River of Lost Tears.

Pharast 11 (Day 160/17)
Nothing happens.

Pharast 12 (Day 161/18)
Mid day we come to a small village near a lake. The villagers ask us to stay the night, eat food and be with them. We decide to stay the day, and investigate our treasure map which points to this lake and a sunken Sargarvan vessel.

Pharast 13 (Day 162/19)
Morning comes and Nkechi takes two water breathing spells. We travel to the north end of the lake where there are many sunken vessels. Nkechi casts water breathing on the four of us, as I leave N'Longa on the shore. We search for almost the complete duration of the spell when we find the sunken ship that has the treasure. As we get close to the vessel, a monster attacks us. Jasper casts a fireball that actually works, by creating a super hot steam pocket. The creature moves up and takes a bite out of Crusher. It takes a lot of damage before we kill it. We search the ship and find much loot. We camp for the night after healing Crusher.

Pharast 14 (Day 162/20)
We continue towards the city of Saventh-Yhi. Nothing happens today.

Pharast 15 (Day 163/21)
As we approach a place where the two rivers we have been following converge, four humanoids wearing masks jump out of the bushes and fire arrows at us. Between a fireball by Jasper and arrows by Mathias all four die quickly. We send Mathias over to collect the magical arrows and masterwork bows. As Crusher and I do not have ranged weapons, we each take on of the composite shortbows and 40 arrows each. We continue on.

Pharast 16 (Day 164/22)
Nothing happens

Pharast 17 (Day 165/23)
Nothing happens

Pharast 18 (Day 166/24)
Late in the day, we see a small herd of hippopotamus in the water. We attempt to pass them by, but some lizard folk make banging noises which scares one of them into charging in our direction. Jasper fries the three lizards, and we have to kill the hippopotamus that charged. We continue on our way, and nothing happens the rest of the day.

Session date: 2012/05/07

Pharast 18 continued
Just after dinner as we are preparing for sleep, seven of the Mzali Rangers surround us and attack. We cover Jasper and Nkechi, and attack back! We kill them all, however Gorum must not have been with me tonight as I did not hit any of them, but N'Longa put down two.

Pharast 19 – 22 (Day 167 - 170)
Nothing happens

Pharast 23 (Day 171)
We see corpses along the riverbank, and the monkeys making a racket in the jungle. We go to investigate the bodies. An ape jumps out of the jungle and somehow I casts fear on us. As Mathias and Jasper decide to run, I cast remove fear and the stay to fight. As N'Longa downs the ape something emerges from it's body, and the fight is on again with something that we cannot see or hear. While we can not see it, somehow it casts a spell similar to a fireball, that damages us a little, but really singes N'Longa. Jasper and I cast protective spells on ourselves, and Nkechi cures me. N'Longa attacks me. This creature must have entered him. Jasper uses the amulet of dispel evil that was given to us, and the creature must have been sent back to where ever it was from, and the amulet is now non-magical. We look over the bodies of the men and they look like they were from the pirate crew. Thankfully nothing else happens that day.

Pharast 24 – Gozran 1 (Day 169 - 177)
Nothing happens

Gozran 2 (Day 178)
We see tracks of a human and something else that is clawed. Following the tracks we come to a clearing with a boar carcass and both Jasper and I think it is someone trying to read the future via the entrails. As we look around we see an open cairn and approach it. A troll and a man come out of the cairn and attack us. We put the troll down, which was undead, and kill the man controlling it. I get a Warmask of Terror out of this. It will help me intimidate my enemies.

Gozran 3 - 8 (Day 178 - 183)
Nothing happens

Gozran 9 (Day 179)
We come to a ruined city, which Nkechi calls Liclac. We make camp here for the night. In the middle of the night we are attacked by Mwangi Spriggans. Crusher goes down however we finally kill them all, and Nkechi spends most of his spells healing up the party. We rest up that night.

Gozran 10-13 (Day 180-183)
Nothing happens

Gozran 14 (Day 184)
Nkechi tells us we are getting near Taizon, after we cross the river that is only a few feet deep. We see four women bathing in the river and they hail us. They invite us to their home and offer us dinner. Jasper and I notice that Zakiyya is in charge, and the other three, Alala, Masozi, and Osumare are glassy eyed unless engaged in conversation. Jasper think they are under an enchantment. Zakiyya tells us that the other three girls are spirit dancers and they can bring out our spirit token. Jasper hints that the potion they wish to give us is poisoned so we refuse. She tries to charm Jasper, but he recognizes it and a fight starts. We finally put Zakiyya down. She was a succubus demon. Close call. The three spirit dancers do the totem dance after tatoo'ing us with our animal. We camp the night and nothing else happens.

Gozran 15-22 (Day 185-192)
Nothing happens.

Gozran 23 (Day 193)
We approach a city in ruins, surrounded by a wall. We walk around and see what would have been six entrances. The wall is down in many places so we look in, and see a lot of trees. We enter into the city and come upon building. We enter and there are snakes, lots of snakes. Crusher kills the biggest one that came to the door, and Jasper throws in a fireball that kills the rest of them. We investigate a five foot shaft in the floor that goes down sixty feet, and there is a tunnel, but Jasper's rat will only go twenty feet into the tunnel and sees nothing so it comes back. We continue to explore the ruined city and run into some of those savage ape man that Cheiton told us about. We killed three, even though I tried to speak to them after casting Tongues on myself. We continue on.

Session date: 2012/06/11

Gozran 23 (Day 193) continued
We find four more of the ape men around a pit. They are not interested in talking and attack us, intending to throw us into the Shedding Pit. After they die, Crusher approaches the pit and a ten tentacled decapus attacks him. One attack from him and Mathias and the beast is dead. We run into more of the ape men. I try to talk them out of attacking, but they keep calling us sons of Azlanti. Oh well, we will cut them down if they don't wish to retreat. He finished the southern half, now unto the northern half and two structures. We enter the closest structure and run into more of the ape men. We finally find four of them and they have prisoners, suspended and covered in tar cocoons. The leader threatens to burn the prisoners. I tell him he will die a much worse death if he does this, but he insists we surrender. We attack, but he fires one of the prisoners. We kill the four ape men and then free the other two prisoners. They are advanced scouts for the Sargarvan government. They will stick with us till our scouts come tomorrow then take them back to the main group. They tell us, and we have heard the word Raogru said many times. I bring the main leader back to life with a charge from my wand after tieing him up. I then told him that he would die again. I kill him again with my sword and then bring him back one final time. I tell him he has no honor and that Gorum will not welcome him, and put my sword thru his heart. We continue thru the ruins and pass an elephant statue. Two ape men drop down at the rear and attack Mathias and N'Longa. We put them down. My wand of Cure Light gets more use, and we are all healed back up. We get to the final room of this structure and there is a cursed cleric of Ydersius there. He wants us to submit to the false god, and when we refuse the battle is on. I take much damage but we end up killing him and his snake. We find some treasure that is useful and continue on to the next structure to the north.

Myself and the DM for this game swap Monday nights running our campaigns, so next week I run Kingmaker for this group. Because of vacations, etc, both campaigns are on pause till August 6th

Back from July hiatus

Gozran 23 (Day 193) continued
We approach the ziggurat, and see an opening with stairs leading into it. We take a walk around it and see no other entrances. We go up the stairs into the structure. We enter, and see hallways to the left and straight ahead. There is a door to the right of the straight hallway so we go thru that. Stone staircase ending in rubble on the right, and going to the second floor. Arches are in the stair case and a double door beyond. As we go under the staircase, a tentacled basidirond (plant pod with legs!) attacks. We kill it quickly. Takes us almost 2 minutes to push the door open, as it was rusted shut. Short corridor, with a door left and right. We go thru the left door and a mold creature attacks Crusher. We figure out that only fire will kill it so Mathias throws an alchemist fire on it and it dies. The room has friezes on the wall and looks to be dedicated to Nurgal, a demon lord. We open the right hand door, and it has crystals in the ceiling that look like stars, and a set of stairs heading down. Jasper and I hear a snake hiss, but can not figure out where it is, so we close the door and head back to finish the first floor. We will deal with the snake and downstairs later. We open the door at the back of the structure and see a white marble room with stairs leading to a lower area, with tiny hovering creatures. We continue in the room, and all of us feel funny. Crusher is staring at the statues, N'Longa thought about staring at the statues, Mathias is looking at the statues, and Jasper is not moving. I thought for a moment that I was getting smaller, but shook it off. Crusher decides to leave, N'Longa and I are fighting two of these things. Mathias also decides to leave. Jasper and I finally kill them all. We head outside to sit with Crusher and Mathias for a while till they break out of the suggestions.

Jasper and I head back in before Mathias and Crusher are ready and a giant wasp comes out of the opening and attacks Jasper. Two more come out but N'Longa and I kill them. After Crusher and Mathias break free from the suggestion, we decide check out the two rooms. The statue room has nothing, but we look into the room where the wasp was, and there is a large nest. As we look at it, the queen wasp attacks. I smite it and kill it. We search the nest and the room and head outside the walls for the night.

Jasper and I remembered that after the statues were destroyed, the spirits of the statues passed thru us and we saw columns with spaces for gems and the order that we needed to put the gems into the columns. One of the stones we have, a moonstone.

Session Date: 2012/09/10

Gozran 24 (Day 194)
Nothing happened last night, so we head back to the ziggurat thru the front door. We head to the right into another room that is flooded with stairs heading down into the water. We detect chaos and poison and decide to go back to the stairs going up. We run into Issilar, a serpent folk mage. We finally killed him after many, many rounds of battle. After healing ourselves, we find the other three gem stones on his body, which according to our dreams we can fit into the columns in the next room along with our gemstone we can figure out where to go next.

Around noon we put the gemstones into the columns, they create light beams onto the floor grid. Neither Nkechi nor I really understand it, but he thinks it might be a place about 20 miles from here.

Jasper really wants to head upstairs, and can not be talked out of it. I take the lead. We run into a girallon and two of his ape buddies. We kill them, and four more apes, and a giant wasp.

We head back out. Three more of the ape men attack us. Jasper casts a fire ball and two die immediately and N'Longa spits at the other and it dies.

Back to the caravan to see if we can figure out where to go next. Amivor Glaur, our expedition leader, confirms Nkechi's guess and we head out.

Gozran 25-26 (Day 195-196)
We travel to Saventh-Yhi, and wait to enter.

Session Date: 2012/09/23

Gozran 25-26 (Day 195-196)
The caravan catches up to us, and decides to make camp in Taizon, with daily runners to us at Saventh-Yhi. Mathias and Nkechi decide to stay at the camp, with Nkechi making cure light wands for us. A new adventurer shows up outside the camp, and we ask her to accompany us. She has the skills that Mathias had, so we are in good shape. Before we leave, Amivor Glaur, tells us the history of Saventh-Yhi from the time before Earthfall. We are to look for seven spears (towers?, structures?) and explore them.

We follow the trail and it seems to end at a waterfall, however Crusher and I spot a trail that leads off into the jungle, so we continue to follow it. We come to a rope bridge over a gorge or a path down and across the river. The path down looks to slippery so we decide to cross the rope bridge one at a time with Crusher going first. When he gets half way over, three flying reptiles attack us. One on Crusher, one on me and one on Crys. I think the are pteranodons. N'Longa kills one with a pounce. I kill one, and Crusher kills one with Jasper's help of a scorching ray. We find a campsite near the entrance to the city. We do not hear the sounds of the jungle in here, and Jasper discovers the whole area is slightly magical. We see no jungle wildlife here also. There is a “carpet” of ants coming from several trees. Jasper puts flaming sphere into them, and then a figure comes out and tells us to leave. His name is Nareem Daress. He wants us to leave, but we try to diplomatically tell him we let him have credit. When that does not work I threaten him, but he decides to attack us. He is composed of the red ants, but we beat him down. One of the ants runs away however, and we think he may come back sometime. He was a ghost we think. We still make camp here for the night.

Gozran 27
We start exploring the city, and Jasper tells us that there is some kind of preservation spell that has kept the city in remarkable shape for a 10,000 year old city. In the 1st district we see many statues of martial figures, and frescoes on the walls. They are of humanoid warriors. The statues and paintings have inscriptions in Azlanti, which I can read. They are about great heroes of the war with the lizard folk. We see a fortress like building so we head to it. It is labeled the District Commander. I see that there has been some humanoid traffic thru here, and Crys looks around for traps that are open. We head into the building and there are four great apes, and an ape that we think is an angazhani. We were bargaining with it, till it says it wants humanoid sacrifices. Crusher decides that a fireball is the appropriate response. We kill the four apes easily, however it comes close to killing Crusher and N'Longa before we put it down.

We see another building close by that looks like it has a “spear” on top of it, so we head off to look at that place. When we get close to it, Jasper tells us that the spear is highly magical and he can not tell what kind of magic it is. This district is purely a military district, no shops, and is tasked with defending Saventh-Yhi. We decide to camp here in the fortress building overnight.

Gorzran 28
We head directly towards the spear building. On the way there, we come to a plaza. There are four bodies of lizard folk hanging from four pillars in the plaza. Two girallon dance on top of the pillars mocking the bodies. They notice us and attack. We kill the two of them. Crusher continues to take damage. We need to upgrade his armor at some point.

Session Date 2012/10/21

Gozran 28 (continued)
We head to the spear building, circle it and do not see anything, so we go in the back way behind the great bat ape statute. Entering the open air building, two ape men guards approach us and attack. As we battle them, four more ape men come around the corner, and we hear a voice from behind the pillar in a language that we do not understand. We kill them, but a huge ape comes around the corner. N'Longa is paralyzed and I am but I shake it off in a round. We kill all the small ape men, and the ape man that brought the huge ape to life, but the ape man killed Solomon. Later N'Longa dragged the body back to camp, and when speak with animals was cast, the big cat told us that the huge bat ape flew away. Crysbal, Jasper and Crusher went back to verify and bring back what they could. Solomon's wish was to not be brought back, so he could enjoy himself in Gorum's kingdom. We buried him with his armor and sword. N'Longa then headed off into the jungle, never to be seen again.
