Book suggestions for New GM

GM Discussion

I am going to try and GM for our local store this weekend. I have a few questions.

I do not have the Seeker of Secrets, and am aware that there is a new field guide out there, but I have been unable to find one. Is there anything vitally important that is not covered in the new society guide?

This is a list of the books I have so far. If there are others you would suggest I would be glad to hear it.

Core, Bestiary(just first one), Advanced Players Guide, Ultimate Magic, and Ultimate Combat.

I have downloaded the new society guide, the additional rescources pdf, and all of the new pregen characters. Is there something else I need to download? Thanks.

The Field Guide just came out, so try looking again in a few days. It's currently up on the Paizo Store blog.

I would recommend that you get some sort of guide to Golarion. The Inner Sea Primer is great for a quick intro, but you may want to get the Inner Sea World Guide for a more in-depth look at all of the countries the scenarios take place in.

You will probably also want the Bestiary 2 eventually.

Thanks, fast response. I will be heading to the store tommorow and see if they have the Inner Sea World Guide, sounds like a good one to have, maybe I'll get lucky with the field guide too. Betiary 2 I will probably have to wait on.

I will second the Inner Sea Primer and World Guide!

Bestiary 2 can wait for a bit. More and more of teh scenarios being published reference it though. If you have the kind of store where the owner/workers don't mind you snagging a copy from the shelf for some quick reference, you are even better off.

I assume the same will happen with Bestiary 3 eventually.

Inner Sea World Guide is awesome, though as said, you can get by with the primer. You don't really need either to run PFS but it will help you make the world seem more real to your players.

Cool I lucked out and got the last field guide at my local store, and thier last copy of the inner sea guide. That inner sea guide is a very nice book, I do not think I have ever seen a world book so nicely presented.

The Special this year actually references Beastiary 3.

I am running Frostfur Captives, I only need the first bestiary for it thankfully and it is season 3.
