Without further ado, allow me to present our burgeoning barony in the Greenbelt:
Gwendor, the Young Land
From Sindarin gwain "young" + dôr "land". Also carries the nice connotation of gwen "maiden". :)
Age: 10 months
Alignment: NG
Size: 9 hexes
Cities: 1
- Stronghold, the capital, founded on the site of the Staglord's ruined fort.
Status:
More cities to be founded in the next few turns at Oleg's (mostly just for the free Stable; we need more Base Value ASAP), Candlemere (magic item economy, here we come!), Dancing Lady (a free castle? are you frakking kidding me?), and Thornford (a half-priced castle is still awesome). We still have to agree on the names, but we'll probably stick with Candlemere and Dancing Lady. The five city districts will help us sell magic items, and we'll easily have enough farms to support them all. We still have a lot of forest to explore, but the trolls are vanquished.
Government: The Ruling Quattuorvirate
Image of the barony's flag ("Quarterly purpure, azure, gules, sable; an annulet or").
Image of the Heraldic coat of arms of the Quattuorvirate. The four quadrants represent the arms of the four ruling council members, Lilac, Iaurinn, Hêmael, and Sempor. Obviously the barony's flag is just an abstraction of this arrangement, with a golden ring to tie the colors together, symbolizing unity despite diversity. This is also reflected in the motto: E Diversitate Vis, or "Strength from Diversity".
PCs:
- Baroness Lilac Brightsthwickle, female gnome "shining knight" paladin of Arshae (the minor god/goddess of freedom and sexuality), has a Strength of 12 but recently one-shotted a level-appropriate solo monster with a smiting critting Spirited Charge. ;)
- Magister Iaurinn o-Lossaeglir, male elven conjurer (teleportation subschool), having fun with battlefield control and masterminding the economic development of the barony. The name is Sindarin for "Ancient Soul from the Snow-Mountains".
- General Hêmael, male half-elven cleric of Kurgess (minor god of sport, competition, and self-sacrifice), mainly interested in the "public hero" part of the job description since we don't have an army yet. The name is Sindarin for "Child of Lust". ;)
- Councilor Sempor, male gnome serpent shaman, secretly a follower of Norgorber...
OotS-style images of Lilac and Sempor: here.

NPCs:
- Grand Diplomat Svetlana.
- High Priest Jhod (for lack of alternatives).
- Marshal Kressle. We came that close to executing her in the beginning. Good thing we came on to her background story just in the nick of time. Very memorable roleplaying!
- Treasurer Oleg.
- Warden Kesten.
- Spymaster Chief Sootscale. It seemed a good idea at the time... Maybe Lilac can convince Akiros to take over at some point.
- Headsman Mikmek. The glee with which he performs his duty is a constant source of headaches.
To be updated soon... have fun!

Lilac does not wish to be rude, but she feels compelled to point out that her last name is actually "Brightsthwicket", not "Brightsthwickle". She ordinarily would not bother to point out such a minor lapse, but it is an old gnomish last name meaning, by an astonishing coincidence, "Ancient Soul from the Snow-Mountains", and she would not wish her ancestors to be offended by her neglecting to issue a correction.
Hail Gwendor! (From the Sindarin "Gwen", meaning "virgin", and "barador", meaning "eager, hot, and lying on the ground".)

Iaurinn o-Lossaeglir |

WARNING: COUNTLESS SPOILERS. SERIOUSLY.
Wow, it's been a while. Two years have passed in Gwendor, and a lot of things have changed.
Behold the glory of the MAP!
Gwendor, the Young Land
Age: 34 months
Alignment: NG
Size: 69 hexes
Cities: 13
- Stronghold, the capital, founded on the site of the Staglord's ruined fort. We just opened a second District with a shiny new Waterfront.
- Leveton, built around Oleg's trading post, mostly notable for its Black Market. Slightly less so now that Stronghold has one of its own.
- Candlemere, serene island retreat, seat of Magister Iaurinn o-Lossaeglir and meeting place for the country's arcane elite. Known for its towering flaming obelisk.
- Dancing Lady, ancient elven castle in the woods put to good use as a military outpost guarding our western border. Named after its last inhabitant before its recolonization.
- Sootscale, a silver mine aswarm with countless kobolds who have finally embraced the blessings of civilization after an aggressive moral re-education campaign.
- Thornford, result of Loy Rezbin's Gwendorean Dream.
- Lilac Falls, the Duchess' personal project, a tourist attraction thanks to the natural beauty of its waterfalls and of its priestesses of Arshea.
- Elkwood. Yes, Jhod, we're going to rebuild the temple eventually. Promise. Meanwhile, we're just glad we get to sell an extra magic item per month.
- Southport, our connection with Mivon. The Pier's going to be restored at some point, but clearly that Brothel was more urgent.
- Warrior's Rest in the northwest, keeping watch over those innocent fertile plains.
- Mîr or-Chenedril ("Jewel on the Mirror"), another one of the Magister's projects to impose his vision of Elven aesthetics on the world, cradled between the snowy backdrop of the Tors of Levenies and their reflection in Silverstep Lake.
- Fairfields, a market town amidst the vast sea of golden hills in the south.
- (Wyvernspire, a mountain stronghold currently in development atop the pillar of rock formerly known as Vordakai's Tomb.)
Status:
With 4 major items and 10 medium ones sold each month, Gwendor is now blessed with untold riches. Wholesale annexation of Varnhold and its surroundings certainly helped.
Changes in Government:
- Baronness Lilac is now married to a female half-orc Bard named Bellatrix. Their first child is due this month (don't ask).
- Sempor is now Spymaster rather than Councilor. I presume lurking in the dark is more to the Norgorberian's tastes than listening to the whine of puny commoners.
- Chief Sootscale has displaced Mikmek as the Headsman.
- Loy Rezbin has relieved Svetlana of the burden of the title of Grand Diplomat.
- The nixie Melianse of the Forest Fey now fulfills the role of Councilor when she is not busy frolicking in her very own lakeside park in Stronghold.
