The news of the partnership with Wizkids to produce Pathfinder Pre-Painted Minis has made my year! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I eagerly await further news of how the sets will be marketed. Thanks for advising already that they will not be random. Since Wizkids does not have a forum to send inquiries, when any of the information below becomes available I would appreciate a reply.
Questions:
1. Will these be made in limited production runs?
2. Will these sets be themed? If so, how will they be themed (undead sets, monstrous humanoid sets, adventure path sets, Golarion country/region sets?
3. Will the sets include a mix of monsters and player characters, or will these be kept seperate?
4. Will these sets be sold as singles, partial sets or entire sets?

1) I LOVE painting miniatures, (and I've heard I'm pretty good at it...)
2) I LOVE the detail the metal reaper ones had opposed to the plastic WoTC ones...
THAT said...
i first started customizing these with the heroclix/WotC figures... and the plastic is a LOT easier to cut apart and switch weapons and such... The metal ones, you either find one carrying the gear YOU carry... or it takes a better customizer than me to fix it...
so I'm VERY much looking forward to these!!!
I REALLY hope we get some good PC figures. Between all the WotC figures... i REALLY care very little about the monsters. If we don't have certain monster... we'll use dice. It'll only be around for a couple of rounds in a single adventure then we'll PROBABLY never see it again.
I love the various dwarves and gnomes and halflings... we have VERY few of these races and would love to see some more...
That said, I REALLY hope they aren't just remakes of the Iconics. I found a use for the gnome druid, and the Elf/eldrich knight... but really, I don't want figures of the characters from teh books... I want figures of our OWN....

We really don't know the answer to any of your questions as of yet. The only thing we do know right now is, at this time, is this is a one time thing. And hopefully it sells well enough where we will see a lot more. Here is a FAQ Paizo has already started for the minis:
We are in the process of appending the following to the press release:
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Are these prepainted plastic miniatures included in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Beginner Box?
A: The Beginner Box includes more than 80 full-color pawns, but it does not include any prepainted plastic miniatures. This set is a separate product designed to complement the Beginner Box or stand on its own.Q: Are the miniatures in this set randomized?
A: It's a fixed set of miniatures. The exact list of minis will be announced soon.Q: How much will this set cost?
A: The exact price will be announced soon. Expect the price to be comparable to similar WizKids miniatures boxed sets.Q: Will this set be part of Paizo's Pathfinder Roleplaying Game subscription?
A: This set is produced by WizKids under license from Paizo, and is not part of any Paizo subscription.Q: How does this affect the Pathfinder Miniatures line from Reaper Miniatures?
A: Reaper Miniatures has been producing unpainted metal Pathfinder Miniatures since Fall 2009, and they will continue to do so.Q: Do these miniatures use Reaper's sculpts?
A: These miniatures use all-new sculpts by WizKids.
And here is the press release:

Well, not everyone does. And not everyone is. Some people want or need those plastic minis. Since the Reaper PF minis aren't going anywhere, you won't be left out there.

Depending on which wotc minis you mean, that's not really a valid comparison, since a lot of their minis were totally crappy, especially towards the end.

Agreed. I love the metal ones, but I'm glad their going to come out with some plastic too... I suspect my DM is too... As the only player who customizes.... He can't exactly TELL me every cool thing coming up, so i can prepare a mini for him ;)

REALLY? In a conversation about metal minis vs plastic minis... it's... Really the ONLY comparison O.o
I LOVED Wotc when they first started... but yeah, eventually they got VERY disappointing... mostly because
1) They were all npc/monsters... Didn't do ME any good at all...
2) the sculpting/detail went STRAIGHT downhill..
Now, i've seen some crappy heroclix too... they changed factories and it went downhill fast... I'm REALLY hoping these turn out good... and give us some good PC/race characters...
