Mists of Mwangi (PFRPG version) Question

Sovereign Court 1/5

Last night i ran the scenario listed above for the first time.
I ran into a question at the conclusion of the scenario, and would like some clarification.

There is an item listed as being gifted to the party by Nigel, the curator of the Blackros museum. It is listed with a description, and a price, for both tiers. However it does not show up on the Tier 1 chronicle sheet.

The weapon in question is a spear.
My questions are:
Does the group get the spear, as a reward, and if so, should it be listed on the chronicle sheet for Tier 1 as it is for the higher tier?

Or...is it assumed that the spear is sold and the money from it is added to the MAX gold listing for tier 1 after a split of some kind?

Or...is the spear an item that is not listed on the chronicle sheet, but can be sold, and 1/2 it's value added to the chronicle sheet?

Thank you in advance. I hope i did not miss the answer to this.
If i have, and my players were in fact supposed to be rewarded with the spear in some way, how do i correct that mistake in order to make sure they are getting what they deserve?

The spear is a masterwork item at the low tier and a +1 vicious spear at the high tier. Unless the Chronicle specifically says so, the items listed on the Chronicle sheet represent access to buy the item, not actual ownership of the items. Because everyone has access to buy masterwork weapons at any time the spear is not listed in the treasure at the low tier. If a player wants to say they carry the spear, they may pay the price for a masterwork spear and viola! they have a cool looking spear. In both instances the item is sold for half value and split up as part of the party treasure, already included in the maximum gold as you guessed. Nigel gives the Pathfinders the spear in graditude if they haven't stolen it already (from the wall in the "Beasts of Legend" room).

There are a couple of realizations you need to make when dealing with chronicle loot.

1) Loot is set to a gold total per sub-tier. This is done in order to maintain long-term balance. We are not ever allowed to adjust this number upwards for any reason.

2) Items gained are also set to be appropriate for each sub-tier. We may find something that can be used during the adventure that is not on that sheet. Basically hand-wave this as "it was sold for gold and has already been added to the gold earned" as above.

So to answer your questions.

No, the group does not get the spear, it is not on the chronicle sheet. (Edit: Doug Ninjaed me for the reason why).

The spear was sold for coin and was already added to the gold total, so you don't need to do anything about it.

You may never sell any item you find during an adventure for 1/2 gold ever (you may sell items you yourself have bought on previous adventures though for 1/2 gold).

Hope that helps.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I do appreciate it.
