Designing a board game on my blog!

Card & Board Games

Hey there!

I'm designing a board game. It's a fighting/area control game called Princess of the Hill. The theme is about princesses dueling it out to maintain control of the high spot. Thematically, kind of a combination of Lunch Money, the Paper Bag princess and Street Fighter II! Drop by and offer feedback:

Princess of the Hill

Enjoy!

Thanks Randall, You Have inspired me...

Design a Boardgame is now on my list of things to do.

ROYAL SIEGE
--------------------------------------------------

  • A stepped Hexagonal Grid 3-D Hill rather than a Board
  • Reverse Engineer Monopoly - Castles and Keeps instead of Houses and Hotels.
  • Collect Taxes instead of $200

    Huzzah!

I totally hope so! I'm working on some concept art right now to get my creative fires stoked. i know that's totally peripheral, but it helps me. I have some board ideas kicking around. I'm going to try to make it into a series of posts and refine it that way, possibly even posting a PnP (Print and Play) version for blog readers to playtest, if so inclined. I would totally love to publish it if it gets to that point. As for "soon"... not totally sure. But I hope it will!

My five year old daughter, Katie, gives me advice on Princess of the Hill, the game I'm designing!

So sort of like Monopoly - except where you build houses then a hotel when you get to three - you are purchasing parts of your 'battle machine' and adding them together?

    'Paint Scrapers'?

Not totally sure where she was going with that, but it was indeed a fighting game. And yeah... paint scrapers! Flat, near-blunt, wide-bladed hand tools. Her version of fighting princesses could practically be out of a Tarantino flick! Yeah, she's a quirky kid!

And to collect 200 dollars (or square coins) you need to return to the top of the hill and battle your rival for it and then go spend it on the purchase of your war machine parts. Feels like a reverse engineered Monopoly more and more.
