I'm looking for a technique to make an iridescent, rainbow-sheen metal color. The figure in question is Reaper Miniatures #02970, Rasia, Bladedancer. I'll be using her for Gwynharwyf, the Whirling Fury, in my STAP campaign. I'm using this picture for the color scheme--look at her scimitars to see the iridescent metal effect I'm trying to recreate.

It's usually used with watercolors, but you might want to experiment with iridescent medium. You should be able to pick it up at an art supply store.
Otherwise, I've had mixed results with making a wash with silver and light blue mixed together. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I have one mini where I was trying to paint an iridescent effect on the shield that turned out pretty well using that.

I'm not sure of your painting style, but I've found a couple of inspiration pictures for you metalicversion which appears to be just a light blending wash over the original color. then there is the NMM method that looks like painting the colors you are looking for then over them highlighting the edges of the blades. hope this helps.

Yes, cutting your colour with silver often works for opalescent/iridescent effects (except that reds have an annoying tendency to turn pink).
The color blending as seen in your link is doable, even of that small of a scale, with your typical acrylic paint, but it works better with a acrylic retarder. You may also have to dilute your viscosity, but retarder does that anyways. With the right proportion, you'll achieve results very similar to water colour. While I don't have any picture of it, I have wraiths/ghosts that fade from vivid color to translucent/iridescent pale green using that technique.
