Money, money, where's the money?

Ok dumb question time!

So let's say I was to tempt trying to go this year. Not counting travel (plane tickets seem to be going for about $288 for me) or living arrangements (I would have to find a really, really cheap hotel :p), how much money would I need to bring to get along from the 9-13?

I did some figuring on another thread.....here's the breakdown:

Per day for Food: If you cheap out, go fast food....$30-50 a day.

Transportation: I think the shuttle express was doing a trip for $20 or so to/from the airport. You'd need this if your cheap hotel doesn't provide one for you. So, $40 right there. If you aren't close enough to walk to the Coast, then you are going to need bus fare, cab fare, or some one nice to shuttle you.

Entertainment: This depends on if you want to spend money in the Paizo store, and if you want to be attending the Pre-PaizoCon events. The Meet and Eat is at the Crab Pot, and while it's not too pricey, it ain't exactly cheap. Expect to spend $50 there for a good meal and drinks.

I have been giving tours of the downtown Seattle sites on Thursday. Since I have been told that my tour is awesome, I will probably do this again. Plan on spending $50 at least on that (admission prices, food, souveniers, etc).

Also, if you're not staying at the Coast, you'll need to budget around $10 a day on bus fare, or more for cabs to get from wherever you stay to the convention venue.

Does the Coast offer a free shuttle to and from the airport? Tim's comment kind of made it sound like needing an airport shuttle is only if you opt to stay in a cheap hotel instead of the Coast

Thanks!

No they don't. The best service to use is Shuttle Express. It's $38 round trip.

I was told by the receptionist that they do. I'd ask again, Marc.

Here is a copy/paste of the response I received when I asked:

Dear Ms. Andrea Brandt,

Thank you for your email. At this time, the Coast Bellevue Hotel does not offer shuttle service to SeaTac Airport, but there is shuttle service available through Shuttle Express. Reservations are required for this shuttle and the trip takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. Once you get your luggage in baggage claim, please cross a sky bridge and go to the 3rd floor of the parking garage then follow the signs for Ground Transportation. The Shuttle Express booth is in the centre of the 3rd floor, between the orange and purple elevator banks (next to the airport’s ground transportation office). Their coordinators will help you or you may use their 24-hour check-in through the phone hotline. The telephone number for Shuttle Express is 425-981-7000 or you can make reservations online at www.shuttleexpress.com .

Please let me know if there is anything else I may assist you with. Thank you for choosing Coast Hotels & Resorts.

Sincerely,

Cari

I believe we addressed a LOT of these questions in the PaizoCon 2009 and 2010 threads...I'll go digging and resurrect some posts.....

For the record, Shuttle Express is the transportation option I have recommended to/from the airport. The hotel does not have it's own shuttle, but the Coast IS on Shuttle Express's list of serviced hotels in the area. That's why it's only $38 round-trip, instead of $100.

Resurrected! Or follow this link!

I have not checked the links to see that they are still active and/or correct, though.

EDIT: OK, all links still look good, except the Siam on Lake Union one....it's now taking you to a sketchy webpage about erectile dysfunction. (Strange, thai food doesn't do THAT to ME)

You must not be ordering it spicy enough.
