I wasn't real nervous until about an hour ago. I was gonna go to work in the morning and come home to see the results. Now, I'm off and get to hang around the house all day until i can see them at five!

Sleep? What's sleep?

In all seriousness I keep looking at the clock and calculating the time until the winners are announced, so I have a funny feeling it may well need to be a NyQuil night if I want to get any sleep at all. I wish I knew why I was so antsy about it. I guess it means for once I'm actually feeling serious about something instead of my usual semi-committed laziness. That's probably a good sign.

I am planning on staying up but it isn't to see the winners for they will be here all day. I want to stay up to read the blog, Pathfinder to get the new Smart Sword Part 2.

I'm in Australia, so the results won't get released until 9 A.M. Wednesday morning (thanks to the time difference). I'll be at work, and don't work with a computer so I won't be able to check in until 7 P.M. (or about 10 hours after the winners names are released).

So I might explode between now and then.

Dark Archive

I don't plan to sleep tonight but then I have to work midnight, just got to work, until 8 in the morning. Of course, since results come out at 5pm for me I don't plan to sleep tomorrow.

Silver Crusade

I too have work tomorrow when the results are posted. I will have to wait about 7 hours after the post to see what happens. Work will seem to take much longer than usual I imagine. Still, best of luck to everyone. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Star Voter Season 6, Star Voter Season 7

I am scheduled to work right as the results are scheduled to be released. Luckily though, i have internet access and will be able to check the results as soon as they are up. As for the sleep thing, I'm at work for 3 more hours, we'll see about sleep when I get home.

My recommendation: Get some sleep now. (ok, maybe not right now :-)

Trust me, if you are in the Top 32, you will not be getting much sleep in three days time when the deadline is looming.

The trick is to submit a bad item so there is nothing to worry about :)

You know next year I'll actually be in the right timezone for this, and I won't have to wait until 5 PM, I'll get to see the results at 2 PM. It will be nice. And yes I do intend to sleep. Wake up. Go to work. And at 5 PM commondere a computer at work and check this site. lol

My son woke me up at 6:30 this morning and has been running circles around me all day. I shall be sleeping tonight.

Thanks to work, I'm up before mine. I do remember when he was my alarm clock though. Best and worse one ever. Never failed to get up on time, but no snooze button.

Just took a shot of Nyquil (Not sick, but was a few weeks ago and I was impressed with how well the stuff knocked me out.) so the sleep fairy will be along shortly. I'll be at work tomorrow when the results are announced, but hopefully can snag a few minutes uninterrupted internet time. I think I've done a good job of talking myself down to not expecting much, but that damn little thing called 'hope' keeps rearing its ugly head. Stupid Pandora closed the box too soon.

Hey, I'm new here.. is there some kind of contest going on?

I kid....

Actually, I'm sleeping like a baby right now, just sleep typing.. Shhhhhh

in germany the results are released on midnight so no problem for me...otherwise I think I would not sleep

I just finished a good nights sleep. Now i just have to get over the day without going CRAZY ( or more crazy that is.)

@Rhino isn't it 11PM ?

Yeah, sadly we don't game today, so the last few hours will be extra hard, when I don't have much to do besides constantly checking the site.

Dedicated Voter Season 6

Well, it's 11 pm in Denmark as well, and that isn't too bad. Should just give med time to look over the winners and mutter darkly to myself about being rejected before collapsing. Then I can wake up tomorrow with fresh perspective and give constructive criticism, and it wont be so long before I can post my own item for critique :-)

And I won't even be close to a computer -.-
I'll be on my way home and guess when I will arrive - 2AM which is 5 PM pacific time.

ôA,

Dedicated Voter Season 8

I didn't sleep well... did get sleep though... but not quite enough to feel awake through the exam I just passed... now I only need to pass one more thing today... or so I keep telling myself... I might be tired by 11 PM when it's up here...

Star Voter Season 6, Dedicated Voter Season 7, Star Voter Season 9

I work nights, its going to be a crazy day. I have my weekly gaming and watching my little guy. All while watching each grain of sand slip down the hourglass.

Good luck to everyone who entered, this is bigger then Christmas!

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I slept just fine.

;-)

its 7:30am for me right now and i will be nervously awaiting the results all day. I wont get the results until 5pm my time so that makes for a long day.
I dont think I made the top 32, but I believe I may have a shot as an alternate, if not, oh well. There is always next year, and the following years after that to look forward to even more regret....:)

Be midnight-ish for me too, but I will be up and caffeined to the max.

Hmmm, just had a weird random thought about comparing this journey to a car journey with young kids in the back seat...

"Are we there yet?"

"Are we there yet?"

"Are we there yet?"

"Are we there yet?"

"Are we there yet?"

"Awww, it's not fair!"

Just ran another Kingdom Building session of Kingmaker. My players have found a good rhythm now that they understand the Kingdom Building mechanics a little better. So now I'm on a post-game buzz, combined with pre-results nerves.

Honestly I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to sleep tonight, even knowing I can't check the results until 10 hours post announcement (darn job and lack of internet access at work!).

Good luck to my fellow competitors!

AHHHHHHHHHHHH (big stretch)

I don't know about some of you but I slept great, not that i'm sure I made the top 32, but I was really tired last night. Now since I get off work at 6 (when the winners will be posted my time) i will find out about 15 minutes after the fact. I would like to congradulate the winners ahead of time. Look foward to your items. Good Luck!

At 6 also, must be another Maritimer..[checking][/checking]

Sweet, you are! There have already been two Superstars over the years from God's Country. Let's hope we get two more in this year alone.

Neil, you are E-vil from the Deh-vil... then again, I didn't have to sort through the piles and piles of submissions so I guess I can't complain too much. ;-)

I satisfied my twitch with reading Oracle Mysteries as I lie in bed (likely going to play one soon) and got a full 8. Now if I can only keep from clicking "Refresh" for the next seven and a half hours...

It's is odd that my entire schedule for the day is centred around it.

I have till then to get these million essays done because my work brain will be swept to one side either by the shock off winning or frothing over the vast amounts of awesome to look at.

Gah! I can't wait!

+1.

....and, mission accomplished!

I was planning on getting plenty of sleep. I still awoke at 3 AM and tossed and turned for a while. I blame the lack of caffeine headache I have. Here I am at work, fortunately I have internet here. However I know that at 2 PM I most likely will be too busy to check personal emails much less the message boards here. Even if my little item gets picked and it actually works out to my benefit in the future, I must maintain my current job as it pays for mortgage and gas to drive to work, etcetera. I saw at least once where someone said, "don't quit your day job." Freelancing doesn't pay enough.
I am not worried about meeting the schedule because first I have to be chosen to be among the 32, which is highly unlikely. Then on the amazing off-chance my item does get picked I think I can keep up with the writing demand. While it is not the same type of writing, I was able to maintain a 4.0 during the semester I took Field Geology. Every weekend that semester was spent either out in the field doing physical research or writing up the reports for said research. The other three courses had to take a back seat, but those included Calculus, Chemistry and Stratigraphy. Somehow I managed. The last Field Geology report was 30 pages long and I wrote it over a weekend.
The only thing that frets me some is that the initial judges may not have liked my item for several reasons, not the least of which is lack of spark of creative genius. Some of you folks out there also competing have an amazing talent for creativity. I have to say that I am honored to be participating with you folks. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing what you all have come up with. Good luck!
P.S. Whoops, it is 7 AM time to begin work!

One of the very few advantages of being an Europaizonian - you can reach the RPGSS result posting without having to resort to direct caffeine injections.

What kind of crazy people are those who stay up for 18 hours because there is a contest winner announcement the next day? Why not just stay up the whole two or three weeks?

I didn't get much sleep because I didn't get to bed until 11 because of my Monday game and I get up at 5:30 then I apparently caught a sinus infection.
And I'm not going to get much work done because I'm lazy anyway and I keep falling asleep for only having slept 6 hours for the past two nights.

Liberty's Edge

I actually agree with Carty - other than calling everyone crazy (to each his own).

I'm assuming that it's a hallmark of my failsauce item design that I'm not particularly nervous or anticipatory. I will definitely be checking the results, but my game is at 5:30EST, so whether or not I'm in at 5:00EST or not, I've got DMing to do.

DMing, GMing. Unless you are publishing something, it's all interchangeable. I think it's stupid that D&D copyrighted something that has been in the gaming community since the beginning. :P Stupid Power Mongers.

What? *nervous eye twitch*

I'm trying not to worry about it, really. I'm going to be at work when they annouce the people going on to the next round. >.< Even so, I'm defintely going to be checking in to see the news. I WANNA KNOW :O

Actually I look at it from the opposite perspective.

off-topic comments:
I think it's awesome that D&D gave away so much of their IP so that Paizo can make D&D material. If it weren't for the open game license, none of this would exist. I'm thrilled we have the opportunity to complain about using 'GM' instead of DM. Considering the current state of affairs at Hasbro/WotC, it's awesome that Paizo can keep the D&D torch going.

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread. :)

Liberty's Edge

I grew up with the cartoon - the little guy in the red robes that appeared and disappeared. It's a hard habit to kick.

But yes, I meant GM'ing.

Sczarni RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32

I'm trying to keep away from these forums, but I can't resist popping back here to check on things -- even though I know there won't be any answers until 4PM my time.

And I'm busy at work today too. Confound it. Well, better go catch up on my projects now.

I've finally begun making the transition into calling it "Game Mastering" or GMing on a regular basis. It took a while to stop saying we were playing "D&D" this weekend, but now everyone in our group asks "When are we playing Pathfinder again?"

WotC can have Dungeon Mastering... I'm just thankful for all the other stuff Ryan Dancey got for us. Definitely worth the trade off IMO. :)
