I am running a campaign and I decided to use the Conquest of Bloodsworn Vale in my own Homebrew campaign. The issue I ran into is some of the challenges are falling a little flat my group is having too easy of a time with this. Most of it is my own fault as I added some set battles and the party is now a little more more powerful than they should be.
I don't want to completely change things but I am not sure the fire drakes are going to cut it when it comes to that battle where they attack the Fort Thorn.
I would like to have something that is not a red dragon but perhaps another surprise which is fire based as well as chaotic. I have changed the villian at the end to be a wizard and tied in with a religion based on fire, choas and evil. Any suggestions? Characters are 7th level right now and finished with beating the wraiths. I have beefed up the spiders conflict some but I am worried about the fire drakes not being enough as well I am not too excitied about them.

I am not sure that you need to do too much. Adding hit points and to hit bonuses can make a huge difference.
As I recall, the Fire Drake attack on the fort is meant to clue the characters in that there is a villian. The fight is meant to get their attention and the Drakes are likely to run away. The characters give chase and so on.
When I ran the adventure, the characters did well chasing off the drakes at the fort and hunting them down after the fact. They had an easy time of it as they were able to plan. They cast fly and invisibility on the whole party and took out the monsters without too much trouble.
It was a whole different story later in the adventure when they ran into more drakes. Being in the open and trying to seek the "safety" of the keep proved almost deadly for the characters.
